Israel's election ends in a political deadlock.
Now, allegations of election interference adding to that tension.
Fox 5's Antoine Lewis is live in the newsroom with more.
Antoine, what can you tell us here so far?
A lot to unpack here, Ryan.
According to the final election results released Thursday,
neither of the two main blocs reached the required 61-seat majority.
Now, that is the number that is needed to form
a government as part of Israel's 120-seat.
Parliament. Now, according to the results, current Israeli Prime
Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's party fell just eight seats short.
While his challenger, his main challenger,
Gabi Eisenkot's party, missed by 13 seats.
The other 19 seats in question were secured by Arab parties.
Fox News is reporting that Netanyahu's party
has accused the Arab-led parties of stealing the election,
while the opposition accused the prime minister
of demonizing the Arab population
to delegitimize the results.
Meanwhile, the election saw a historic voter turnout
at 77.9% officials reporting.
Now, Israeli's election committee acting director,
General said that an investigation is underway
into Netanyahu's allegations, though clarified
that the outcome would not affect the final results
and is not directed at any particular
sector.
Though with no clear winner, the country may face weeks,
if not months of political limbo.
So we'll keep you updated.
But for right now, Ryan, that's the very latest from the newsroom.
We'll send it now back upstairs to you.
