Okay, so today I'm deep diving into these super cute crochet hooks
that I got off of Temu. If you have not seen my
actual haul video that includes these as well as first impressions
for a bunch of other stuff, check out the link.
It will show you everything that I got off of Temu.
Was such a steal, you'll see if I liked everything
or what I thought of it and gave it a little rating.
And then I said I would deep dive into a lot of the things.
So this is the first deep dive that I'm doing.
And this is for these very ornate,
super cute crochet hooks that I purchased
just because of how they looked.
I don't have anything like these already.
They were just too cute to pass up.
They are not that expensive.
You can see the price.
They range from a 2.5 all the way up to a 6 millimeter.
It only gives the millimeter sizing, which is fine.
You know, most patterns will tell you millimeter
and whatever sizing you are for us, the U.S. hook size.
So when I first
Purchased them. I thought for some reason
that this portion was going to be metal. I think maybe
because it looks shiny. So I thought it was going to be metal,
but it is a plastic and it's a
comfortable plastic. It's not like a very cheap feeling plastic.
It's got a good feel to it. It
does have like a little bit of a seam where
the plastic's been joined that could be, you know,
sanded out if you really wanted to.
But I wasn't sure how functional these were going to be because
The way that they're shaped, um, they, you know,
they have that kind of thumb rest, but
is it really going to work well when I'm crocheting with it?
So I've been working on a couple of projects
and I did try to give these a fair go.
I did them in a couple of different sizes on some different things.
So you'll see the closeup
of those and I'll explain how they stacked up to like my favorite
crochet hooks that I use already.
So, let's go get started.
Get in the close-up and let me talk about what I think of these.
Okay, so to begin I'm using one of my favorite hooks.
It's the tulip hook and
you can see how easily it slides through. This is a 3.5 millimeter.
Everything is smooth, the stitches flow easily,
the handle is very comfortable.
I'm going to switch over to the new hook in a 3.5 and see how it works.
So right off the bat you can see I'm kind
of struggling to get my stitches through it,
or my hook through my stitches.
It's kind of sticking and having an issue.
Thank
I'm gonna show you why in a second,
but it is not as easy as that tulip hook.
Not super uncomfortable,
you
but not as comfortable or easy to get through.
so
as my normal favorite hook. Let's switch to a bigger hook now.
much.
Okay so now I'm working with a six millimeter.
Again this is my favorite,
one of my favorites, the tulip.
And you can see nice smooth stitches, very easy to push the hook
through, very easy to bring the yarn through my stitch.
It's just very enjoyable to use these
hooks. Let's switch to the six millimeter new cute hook
and see if it works better than the 3.5.
So, not quite as sticking as the 3.5,
but again, I'm having an issue when I'm pushing
through my stitches.
There's like a little stopper almost.
It's kind of strange how that feels,
but it's having an issue with me putting my stitch
or my hook through my stitch and pulling it through.
So, let's look at the two hooks side by side.
So...
It's almost evident. It's kind of hard to see, but you can feel it.
When I rub on the new hook,
there is a little bump right at that kind of where
the shaft starts to grow. It's on both sides.
The tulip is way more smooth.
The new one has got just a little bit of a weird
stopper almost because it's a more abrupt...
Abrupt.
I'm not sure like how to explain it.
It's just kind of a bump. You can see the head of it looks
very similar, but for some reason that bump is really causing problems.
So that was the close-up.
That, you know, there were some issues crocheting. They do have that
kind of little hump that is really, you know,
it kind of gets stuck on there. The metal is not
Not as smooth as my normal crochet hooks, so it is, you know.
For the look of them, I still give them a 5.
My original rating was a 3.5 overall.
I'm going to drop that down to like a 3.
You can use them. They do work. However, they don't work great.
So if you're doing Instagram or videos or something and you want
a really cute crochet hook that you're doing your video with,
these are definitely fives in my book.
I, you know, I'm sure I'll be using those for pictures.
But for a long term project,
it's really going to get annoying. So I would say
Don't get these just for crocheting, get them for decoration.
So stick them in a little pencil cup,
wherever your crochet stuff is, and it'll be super
cute, but not the greatest at actually crocheting.
Tell me what you think.
Do you think they're worth purchasing just because they're cute,
or would you just pass
because they don't work that great?
