Friday morning everybody 746 hang in there.
It's almost Halloween weekend and we ended
the two week dry spell yesterday and we ended the warm streak.
Yeah, the last nine days we've had highs warmer than average.
We barely made it into the low 70s yesterday
and the struggle is real to get that warm up going today.
That's for sure. We're going to be holding steady in the 60s
and 70s all day long because we're going to see a lot of this clouds
and then eventually the rain is really going to increase.
And our confidence is running really high.
That's going to happen because look
at what's occurring out to our south and west.
A wide area of light to moderate rain.
That's what's left of tropical storm Vance.
That's going to pivot into our neighborhoods
from midday through the afternoon commute.
And that is when we'll have the highest rain chances around here.
So make sure you have the rain boots
and umbrella ready to go along with the long sleeves.
Some of us may not get out of the 60s.
Today, we had really good coverage of rain yesterday.
It was light to moderate. There were some spots, though,
down here in Southern Fayette County, Eastern Bastrop County,
Eastern Williamson County that missed out completely.
The highest totals happened out across the hill country where
we picked up half an inch to three quarters of an inch.
Here's what is showing up on our Max Live radar right now.
Very isolated rain showers and the rain is very light going up 183,
I-35 into the Austin Metro
very shortly. Also some rain
in western Travis County near Lake Travis, Lakeway, Bee Cave,
eventually going into Cedar Park and Leander.
Hit and miss light rain showers in Burnet,
Llano, and Lampasas counties all the way out just south of Mason.
As this upper low moves out of
Mexico, it's going to put us in a prime spot to see widespread rain.
When you're due east of a low you have
A lot of lift, and we have plenty of fuel to work with.
The moisture is stacked in the atmosphere,
and that low is going to wring out that moisture in the form of rain.
I've bumped up the rain chances even more,
80% to 100% in the Hill Country,
70% to 80% chance of rain up and down I-35,
and then 50% to 70% across our eastern counties.
And like I showed earlier, the prime time for most of that rain,
from 11 a.m. to about 6, 7 this evening.
And then the rain chances drop off tonight
and stay very low for your weekend plans.
As we take it hour by hour,
it looks like our HRRR model has a pretty good handle on the situation
where the rain increases along
with the intensity where you have the yellow and oranges.
On the future radar, that's indicating
moderate rain, nothing too heavy.
That's going to lead to any flooding,
not worried about any severe weather,
barely any lightning in our future today.
But we could have several hours of rain
and even some scattered light rain showers
for your evening plans.
And then it's downgraded to isolated showers first thing on Saturday
and then drying out.
Just like that.
It is perfect timing for all
the trick-or-treating fun Saturday evening.
We're going to be in the 70s with dry skies.
It's going to be really nice.
And how about some Halloween extremes?
The average high is 77.
Average low is 56.
We'll be right around those numbers tomorrow.
The hottest Halloween happened just two years ago when we hit 93.
The year before that, we had the coolest day with a high of 48 and the
wettest Halloween 2015 when we picked up almost five inches of rain.
We're not going to see that much today.
We'll be lucky to get a third of a half an inch.
Some spots south and west of Austin could pick up an inch of rain.
Three out of the four models show about a half
an inch of rain falling here in Austin.
That's not going to lead to any flooding.
We're in the 60s right now underneath that thick cloud cover
and temperatures aren't going to move a whole lot.
We're not going to be nearing the average high
We're just not going to see a whole lot of sunshine today.
Highs rebounding into the low 70s before that rain really gets going.
Then it's going to cool us off
in the 60s again all afternoon long going into the evening hours.
The 80s are being pushed down into south Texas.
Rain-cooled conditions for much of Texas.
The rainiest spot for a change in the U.S. of A right here in Texas.
If you're flying the west coast, east coast, you're just fine.
Also in the midwest.
Barely below 80 tomorrow,
then we'll be in the 80s as we say hello November
until a cold friend gets here next Tuesday
to bring in that autumn feeling.
And the weather's going to be just fine at DKR
as Longhorns take on Mississippi State.
77 at kickoff with rain-free skies and 70s all game long.
Daylight saving time ends, by the way, Saturday night.
That means fall back one hour.
We gain an hour.
But the sunset will be a lot sooner Sunday evening, right around 540.
Rain chances dropping for your weekend plans
and then increasing again on Tuesday as we track this next western low.
This one is going to dig southward and intensify.
It's going to buckle the storm track,
and it still looks like that's going to push a front through here.
Early on Election Day with a quick shot of rain
and storms and then a cooler, drier breeze after that.
We're talking about highs in the 70s with low humidity for several days
and lows in the 40s and 50s.
So you add up the rain we could see here in the next 24 hours and also
next Tuesday with the front and we could cash in over an inch of rain.
Not only here in Austin,
but like in Marble Falls, San Marcos and Bastrop.
And then after that front pushes through
for the second half of next week,
the rainy weather will shift to the east,
but we could slide back into a rainy weather pattern.
During this time frame of November 6th through November 12th,
rain likely today, cloudy and
cool, highs in the upper 60s, the low 70s,
just spotty light rain this morning, and then
a widespread steady rain event that could last
for several hours this afternoon.
A few showers here and there this evening and overnight,
and then we're drying out and
warming up for your weekend fun.
The weather's going to be just fine for Halloween night.
A little bit warmer on Sunday, mostly cloudy skies,
and that'll be the theme on Monday.
Cold front.
The rain arrives on Election Day.
Rain and storms likely in the morning.
And then a cooler, drier breeze.
The chilly mornings are back for the second half of next week.
So look out for those spotty showers.
You're going to have to dodge them.
And then it's going to be a good old-fashioned rainy day
as we go into the afternoon hours.
