Hey everyone, welcome back. Today I got more Temu gear
so that I spend my money and you don't have to
to find out if this stuff is worth the risk.
So I picked up some more yarn. I got some crochet tools.
I found a couple things too that were kind
of intriguing that I haven't really seen before
or if I have it didn't really, you know.
stick to my radar,
so I'm going to unpack all this stuff and then stick around to the
end because I'm going to give a couple
of them a go and see what I think.
So with everything that I have here,
I have it linked in the description if you want to
go try them yourself or you think something's pretty cool,
but first if you like free patterns,
Tutorials and item reviews.
Be sure to hit the like and subscribe button
so that you never miss out when I release
another video.
Let's dig in.
Okay, first off, I got some more crochet hooks.
There are a couple that were kind of catching
my eye every time I get on there and I wanted
to see how they actually looked in person and if they work well.
So the very first one is this set of kind of crystallized,
I don't know, I was wondering
I'm wondering if the grips are...
as textured as they look because that seems like
that would not be comfortable to hold for a long
time. So let me open these up and let's see.
Okay so the colors are beautiful but they are
super textured so
What does that mean for hours of crocheting?
I don't know. I'm going to have to probably give
these a go. They do have a nice pointed inline head, which I love.
The numbers are clearly marked
on the bottom.
They go, I think, from a three point to six, it looks like.
Yeah, three to six,
so a good little range of sizes.
The plastic feels pretty smooth. I don't feel any kind of
nubs or anything that I might get caught on, but
Will this be comfortable to hold for hours?
I'm gonna have to do a deeper dive into this one
because I really want to give it a fair shot
So I'm gonna use this for a project
that's going to take a little bit of time
So that I can let you know if I have indentions
In my hand from these or if they're
comfortable enough to hold for a long time
So off the bat for price and style
You know four out of five for actual ease of use to be determined.
Okay next up is some yarn. The yarn is always hit or miss. I
hope that I get what I'm looking
for but you never know what you're going to get because
usually the descriptions are pretty lacking.
I don't know my yardage, possibly the content.
what thickness it is. I just get it and hope it's gonna work.
So Temu sells a lot of kind of color combos
that you can get so I picked
one that I was hoping would be worsted.
It looks worsted to me and it's a
three pack of green
so I'm going to be releasing some of my slipper patterns
so I was going to kind of probably use this and some other yarn I got
to make the base and the top of my slipper so
Be sure, hit that subscribe button
if you have seen my slippers and you want to get
some of those free patterns when they come out,
but let's open this up and see how it feels.
Okay, so this is a fairly soft,
I'm going to say it's acrylic, it's probably 100% acrylic,
I'm not sure. It does say 4 size,
so we did, we did make it for the worsted.
Composition, 100% acrylic. Okay, it looks like this has 131 yards per
Little baby skein, baby skein.
So price, color, style, feel.
These are good.
I'm happy with these.
These are...
Four to five out of five. We'll see how they hold up and how if I have
a lot of knots or anything to kind of finish off if I like them or not.
Okay, the next thing that I got was something
that I don't really think I've seen before.
And it could be totally gimmicky and a waste of money,
but it was pretty cheap.
So I thought I'd give it a try. And it's this guy.
So it kind of looks like a screwdriver, but it is not.
Let me take it out and explain.
Okay, so what this actually is, and I'll probably do one of the,
I'll use this at the end to see how
well it works, but if you can see, and I'll do a close-up,
it has a little kind of u-shape at the
top, and this is actually for stuffing filling into your amigurumi.
So pushing the filling in,
so I don't know, when you have a smaller kind of hole,
they say use chopsticks and stuff, but
that usually...
pushes right through and it's hard to get
the stuffing in because you're just
kind of stabbing it instead of pushing it in
so this little u-shape i am thinking it's going to
push better into it so i was kind of excited to get this and try it
it's super simple the plastic grip is not comfortable at all
it's not meant for like long-term use
you know where you're sitting there
stuffing for hours it's a very utilitarian item
And hopefully it works, so we'll give it a try and I will let you know.
Okay, a quick PSA.
I get a lot of my nails from Temu.
They have press-ons and they have really cool styles
that I don't see like on Amazon and stuff.
So they are super affordable.
I gave up going to the salon this past year.
It was just ridiculous how expensive it has gotten.
And your nails just really get kind of...
Super thin. It took a while for them to get kind of back to somewhat
healthy shape, but now I can put on a new set of nails once a week,
and a lot of these hold up so well that I can wear them multiple times.
So I will link to some nails, like these nails,
pretty much all of my videos now, if I have some press-ons in them,
I will link to them so that you can get them if you like them.
But I, like, these are...
$2 a piece? Like, can't go wrong with that, you know?
And there's tons of cool styles. These have
little cactuses on them. So just a shout out to the Temu nails.
Those are actually pretty decent
for what you're getting. Okay, I got another yarn kit.
So this one actually came with some
freebies as well. So it was a very crunchy bag.
It was a whole set kind of blues.
I don't even remember that it had some black and gray in it,
too, so that's kind of extra.
They send a crochet hook and it looks like the
world's tiniest crochet hook that would not work with this yarn, but
it was free. So let me open this up
and let's look at it a little closer. Okay, so
The hook is a 2.5, which if you ever have used yarn,
that is like a worsted, and this
is a 2.5, so I could make the tightest amigurumi
if I could pull that yarn through with this
hook, which I don't think is going to happen,
so most likely this will just kind of be used
for other things, but it's ergonomic,
it's like that kind of soft rubbery handle, so
it's a comfortable handle.
So, I'll give them that.
Then we have some locking stitch markers
and some plastic yarn needles, which always come
in handy.
Okay, and then we have the actual yarn.
This one is called Easy To Do DIY Crochet Kit,
or DIY Crochet, and then it says DIY
Crochet Kit for Adults, not for children.
Kids could use it too.
It says 100% acrylic on the scratchy package.
Does not say anything on here.
It looks like a worsted.
I'm going to say it's probably the same,
pretty close to the same yardage.
But for the price, and six...
Different skeins that kind of all coordinate.
I think that was a pretty good deal. Okay, the next one
I did not need but it was so cute.
I had to get it and it's little cat stitch markers
I'll do a close-up because they are adorable
and they are so well made they are very heavyweight metal and
Fortunately, the only problem is they
are not connected to the rings, so it's going
to give me work to do, which I'm not a fan of at all,
so that is a super bummer because
I am not a jewelry maker and I don't want to do that.
I do not want to have to sit here and put these all together.
Okay, time for some more crochet hooks.
These, these, these looked.
ergonomic so and they were pretty colors very
pastel looks like more plastic hooks but I wanted
to see how comfortable these feel
because they're such a good deal that if they are comfortable and
they work well they are great beginner set.
You can get all of them for very cheap so you can
really try out crochet without having to spend
a lot of money in the beginning. So let's open
Let's open them up and see how they feel.
Okay, these are super light.
Wait, they, um, they have shorter shafts.
I like longer shafts just because if you're going to be doing, um,
lots of dc together
so dc5 together whatever it may be having that longer shaft means that
your stitches will be more consistent
but it does have the nice pointy end line though the
top of it is a little kind
of scratchy like hopefully that doesn't catch yarn
so we'll have to see about that the actual shaft seems pretty smooth
All along and it looks like we have six.
They seem kind of small like I don't know that doesn't
quite seem like a six to me maybe right here
which isn't very much so I don't know about these guys
but it looks like we started at 2.5 yeah I think 2.5 to 6
so a good range but again if it's not
quite fitting.
I'll have to get out my gauge and see if it fits in there.
Okay, I got my gauge out, so this is supposed to be a 6.
Let's see if it goes in.
Where's my 6? Here's my 6.
Like, it has to go all the way
to almost where it starts to get bigger to reach the 6.
So, I don't know.
I guess it's 6, but very, very small amount.
Like, literally, it's like...
From here to here, so barely any space for your yarn.
So for that alone, I would say pass on these
because you're going to get very inconsistent stitches.
Okay, so because I got that Amigurumi
stuffer, I also got some other things for Amigurumi.
One being some cool looking eyes.
Anyways, these are, um, metal, or, like, um,
Metallic eyes and it actually looks more interesting now
that I'm looking at the bag.
I need to do a close-up for these.
So I thought that each eye already had the metallic on it
but it looks like it's a whole separate piece
that you slide on and then
you can kind of pick what color you want or
extra different colors, whatever it may be,
but you slide that on and then you have your connector for the
Backside. So I guess you could even do clear eyes.
You need like a kind of a color backdrop.
But these could be quite cool for the right kind of project.
So I wanted to try these out
and see what I could come up with to use them for.
But they look pretty cool. So I'm happy with what they are.
For the price that I paid and I'm getting over a cold,
so sorry if I sound stuffy.
The next thing goes with those eyes
and it's this guy in another crunchy bag.
If you can't tell what it is,
it was something one of those items where I haven't really
seen it before, but it was super intriguing.
So let me take it out and tell you what it is.
OK, it looks like I actually have to kind
of put this together a little bit here.
Not too bad.
A little choo-choo.
And then these, I'm not sure which way they go,
must be this way.
So if you have not figured out what this is,
I do not blame you, I would not have known
what this is, but it's actually an Amigurumi eye putter together.
So you're supposed to be able to put
Your eyes and I see like a little post a hole on this side.
You're supposed to be able to do your amigurumi eye
and then pop them together. So it's easier to snap them together
because some of those are quite difficult.
I have some metal ones where it's really hard
to get it just in the right spot to push it on.
So I wanted to get this and see if it makes it easier.
I don't know if it will work for every kind of project because of
the way it's shaped and if you have to get into a certain area,
but I thought it was
interesting enough and not too expensive to warrant giving it a try.
So we will put some eyes on something and see if it works.
Okay, I see some hand-dyed yarn on Teemo sometimes
and it's a great deal and it looks pretty
and I was like, I want to try some of it.
So I got some...
And it's in here so I don't know what it looks like
but let's open it up
and see if it's cute or not. So then we got a bag in a bag. Another
crunchy bag. Let's take that out and then look at the yarn.
Okay so this is the colorway
that I believe I chose
and this is the colorway that I received.
Not quite the same.
I don't know how I feel about this.
I don't know how well this is going to work up. It's kind of
muddled and mute so it's maybe.
It says natural and hand dyed. I kind of believe
the hand dyeing of this because of how it looks.
It says hand dyed wool yarn.
It says 10% cashmere. So here's my makeup.
52% wool, 10% cashmere, 38% polyester.
So basically acrylic. It's 270 meters per hank.
And I think I'm going to have to burn
this and see if it's more natural than acrylic.
If you've seen, is my Temu cashmere reel,
I'm linking that, we're here, we're there.
Thank
I advise you to go watch that, it's very interesting,
I'm not going to give it away, but go watch
it.
I do burn the yarn to see if it is true cashmere or not,
so I think I'm going to burn a little
bit of this at the end of this video,
so stick around to find out if it's more natural than
not.
Okay, so I got some very cheap hooks,
you.
and then I picked a more expensive, it's not really
Not really that expensive.
for what it looks like.
It's more of a high-end hook that would be good for gift giving.
So it comes in this nice little gift box.
So let's see how this one looks.
So I picked purple because I like purple a lot next to black.
The purple is a 3.5 which I also
kind of got on purpose because that's what I use
for amigurumi a lot and I've done a whole
amigurumi thing this video
so I thought I could use this for making what I'm going to stuff and
And stick eyes on.
So this is a metal.
Totally metal hook.
It is very pretty.
It is kind of weighty.
If you have used the Furls Streamline hooks, which are metal, they
have about the same weight.
This might be actually a little bit lighter, but it has a very nice
pointy head. Not a lot of like spot to catch the yarn though,
so that might be a little difficult
...to use, um.
You know, they say these are ergonomic.
I have hand pain now, I'm getting older, so I
hope that it helps. I don't know,
like this does not feel super slick, like it almost feels like
it might need to be treated a little to make it slick, but we'll see.
We'll give it a go with some
So 3.5, which is right here.
So it's got a good amount.
This whole little area is 3.5 all the way until you get about here.
So not too bad. It's a very pretty color. Very pretty hook.
I like the design. We'll see. I get worried with...
Hooks that are heavier. I feel like my hand may start to hurt sooner
so I'll have to give it a try
and see what I think about it
but for now I'm gonna be cautiously optimistic and see how well
it works. Okay my second to last item is something
that I haven't already checked out and this thing
popped up as like a
You can add this to the cart right at the last minute!" And I was like,
what is that thing? And it's one
of those things that I have not seen before.
If it's around, I'm just not on the internet enough.
But it's this.
So, if you don't know what this is, like I did not,
it is a pom-pom maker and a tassel maker.
So, I love my Clover pom-pom makers,
but this one kind of intrigued me because it has a cranking system.
So, I don't know. It's got a little guide.
I'm very intrigued to see
How this works and if it is a good deal or not.
It has the instructions all on the back side
and they are in English and very small so
I'm going to need my magnifier to read them
but I'm going to give this a go at the end
of the video and see if it works or not.
So I'm very excited to try this.
Okay so the very last thing that I got it was shipped separately.
I'm not sure why, but it was,
so I got it a little bit later than the rest of the items.
And when I saw it, I just thought it was super cute,
and I wanted to see what it would be
like in person, and you'll understand when you see it,
but I wanted to see if it was
porcelain or plastic or whatever it was.
And it is this little cat yarn ball holder.
So, it is definitely 3D printed, very textured,
I just noticed that its ear looks like it's,
I don't know what that's about, is it cracked?
I can't tell.
Um, but very, very textured. You can see, like, these lines.
Like, I have, like, the, um, yarn spinner that I got from Etsy
is 3D printed and super smooth, so I'm not sure about that.
I also thought this would be bigger, so I wound up the hand-dyed,
hand-dyed yarn that I got, which you'll see in a minute
with a burn test, um, but you're not fitting a cake,
or a ball of any size in this thing.
It's a cute idea, but it's probably gonna get donated.
It's not quite usable. Maybe a crochet hook holder?
It could be that at least.
But yeah, a lot smaller than I thought it was gonna be.
So I think it's time to go start testing
the items, so let's get going on that.
Okay, I'm back. I'm going to try out
The stuffing tool, the eye tool,
and then I did try all three of these hooks while
working on this little mouse.
So my kitten loves to play fetch. Follow me on
Instagram because I'm going to post some videos
of that once I finish this.
Not this particular one, but I'm working on kind of a mouse toy because
she loves playing with the mice toys that I buy, so I'm working on one.
This is like one of my first tries. I'm not loving it,
but this is going to be the tester for the eyes and the stuffing.
But first, let me talk about these hooks.
So, I actually was pleasantly surprised with this one.
This one was actually pretty...
Nice to work with.
It's not as slick as I had mentioned, but it was working well.
It went through the stitches easily,
and I had no problems actually crocheting with it.
So it's a good option for, you know,
like a gifting kind of hook because it's so pretty,
and also for that ergonomic feel of it. So, not...
as bad as i originally thought so i'm pleasantly surprised with that.
then this was the one that i was most excited to try.
i thought they looked great. the shaft was nice
and long. i was just worried
about the feel of the actual handle and my
concerns were not warranted. i did not notice any
Kind of adverse effect from the feel of the handle being textured.
This actually, usually when I make amigurumi,
my hands get very tired and sore.
I had no problem working the stitches with any of these hooks,
and I'll talk about that
Last one in a minute.
But it was great. Everything slid very easily.
The only problem I have found, and I'm going to say it with all three,
which I was not really ever noticing with other projects,
but because of how pointy...
The hook portion is right here.
I was sometimes splitting my yarn. So like my clover hooks,
I'll grab one real quick. I lied, my tulip hook,
same clover and tulip have the same kind of thing.
You'll see it's a little bit more rounded here and this is more pointy.
So I was splitting my
yarn and having a little bit of issue with that,
which I thought it would be easier to
get through stitches, but it was actually causing me a little problem.
I don't think on bigger hooks,
because this is much smaller than what you use for this
yarn, so I think that was the major cause of it splitting,
the rounder hook I think
is going to be a better choice
when you're using a smaller hook than what the yarn is
called for, and that's something
that I've never realized because a lot of, most of my
hooks have kind of the rounded tip.
So if you're making amigurumi,
Probably not the best, but for other projects,
I think these are a great choice.
So with that said, here's my last one that I want to talk about.
This is the one where I said probably not worth the money
because of how short the shaft is.
I did find a use, so I'm gonna eat my words a little.
This one is the lightest
probably of any hook I own. It is so light.
It's almost weightless, but again, it has that short shaft. However,
This can work really well for stitches, like basic stitches.
So if you're just doing single crochets, like for amigurumi,
This worked very well and it kind of because one of the things I
do is I usually push like all the way to where it stops on the shaft.
So my stitch when I'm working it, it's going a long way.
You know, I have to like each stitch is taking a lot of distance
as I make it because I'm pushing it all the way through on this one
because it's so short. It's a lot shorter distance.
So you kind of make your stitches faster.
So another thing that I did not realize until
working with that short shaft.
So that's one thing to note, wasn't horrible, I don't mind,
and if I have a single crochet project I might pick
these because I'll probably work faster.
So now let's check out the eye puncher,
I don't know what it's called, I put her in her,
and then our stuffing tool.
And one thing I wanted to point out because people will
blast me in comments for buying from Temu, but
I was on Etsy looking around to see other options for like this tool
and I came across the listing
for this exact tool
and they're marking it up thousands of percent, I would say,
from what I paid.
So I am out here not promoting but also not degrading.
There are people that are buying this and upselling it,
which that's their right, but
I want you to know that there
are other options out there where you can save money and get
the exact same thing.
So with that said, I'm going to try to put the eyes in,
and I don't know if this is going
to work.
This one is not going to be for the cats.
This one is just my tester for stuff.
I don't know if I'm going to be able
to get all the way in here for this.
Let's see.
I probably should have done the eyes a little bit further.
I should have done the eyes before I got this far in.
I might just stick an eye here just
this is going to be a alien mouse with eyes on its back basically.
So what we're supposed to do
from what I can tell because it doesn't have instructions with this
I there's no spot to like make this sit
so I think what I'm gonna do is I'm going to put it
in just where I want it which for this it doesn't matter.
And then I have the backing here,
and I believe the backing is gonna go on this side where the hole is.
Put that in there,
and then I'm gonna try to get it into the spot where I need it.
I think I got it, and then I'm gonna squish it together,
and it's still there.
Okay, so what I think I'm gonna do,
so I'm just gonna put it kind of near the edge so that I can find the
bottom of it, since I didn't really think
this out before I made it. I should have...
Done it a little bit better,
and then I'm going to try to line this up and see how this works.
So that goes, okay, let's see if we can get
this to pop into that hole. I think I got it. Okay,
I'm gonna squeeze it. I heard a click.
Nope, I did not get it in the spot that I need it.
So I think I definitely didn't think this through well enough.
Oh, maybe we got it. Nope, I actually broke this.
I broke the thing off of it.
Okay, I'm changing my plan because I did not think this part through.
I'm just gonna see if it works with like a swatch.
Throw it in here.
So my suggestion is to make sure that you do the eyes
when you can get to them.
So maybe if I just put this on here first,
I'll have better luck or get it close to it.
So you want to get it near the edge it seems.
This is definitely not as easy as I thought it would be.
I probably could have had this pushed on already if I did it manually.
Oh boy. Yeah, this is not easy at all.
It's that one again.
Okay, another one.
I think I have a lot.
Okay, let's see.
Because this is just not quite working out for me.
Right near the edge.
It's kind of thick, maybe it's too thick.
No, I'm not going to give up just yet.
I want to get one successfully.
But this might
be more pain than it's worth.
Yeah, I'm just breaking them.
So that was not a great buy, I guess.
I'm just not gonna keep on breaking these.
So this was not really helpful at all.
So I'm gonna say skip this.
That one is not going to be the greatest.
Maybe for bigger eyes?
You know, I have bigger eyes.
Let's try a bigger eye first before I give up.
Okay, I got some bigger eyes. I was trying smaller eyes
because of the mouse, but let's see if it works better for bigs.
We've got a lot more to work with with this one,
but I feel like this should work on its own
to put it in without me having to, like, start it.
So I don't want to start it, I want it to just work.
This is kind of wide.
Let's see. Ha ha! We got it!
It worked this time so this might be good for bigger eyes.
Let me see. I feel like it can go
farther but maybe not. Maybe the like it's
not quite there's a little bit of wiggle room on here
so it didn't there's not enough depth in the hole to get it flush.
So if you want it flush then you
probably have to push it yourself which is easy once it's on.
Let me see how easy it is to put these
Just on by hand.
So we can make a determination if it's worth it.
Eyeball washcloth.
It's not as easy to get started, but once...
I don't know, that was pretty easy.
The big ones are easier,
the small ones are what I was hoping it would be helpful for,
because that little hole is hard to line up.
I'm still torn.
It's a pretty cheap item, so if you...
I do amigurumi a lot, maybe it's worth it, but I don't think
I would repurchase if I saw this and knew how it works.
So, up to you.
Let's stuff and see how the stuffer works.
Okay, I got me some stuffing and I got my mouse still.
So, usually, you know, you kind of just get your finger and you can
see like it doesn't want to go further unless you start putting more in.
So, let's see what happens with the stuffer.
Okay.
Kind of went straight through,
it's kind of working, it's getting there.
I feel like this would be good for like little nooks
and crannies, so let's see if we can
get kind of, I think once you're like,
if you're stuffing it really, really hard, or
you want it really super stiff,
I think this could be good because it looks like the denser
the stuffing is, the easier it's working.
If you want it kind of soft and pliable,
this probably won't be the greatest
because you could just do it with your finger,
but this seems to be working well. So I think
this is probably better than a chopstick
and it really kind of gets it in there good.
I'm afraid I'm like gonna push
so hard that I'll miss and I'll stab myself though,
so be careful. But yeah, okay.
You know what? I'm not mad at it. I like it.
This will be in the rotation.
I'm going to keep this out. I will use this for sure.
So that really got all of that in there nice
and tight so that I can finish the mouse, which I'm
not going to finish because I don't like this design
and I'm going to make a different design.
I'm gonna give that a five out of five.
That actually worked well. So this is the clover pom-pom
maker. This is what I normally use for my pom-poms,
and this is a pom-pom made with that.
Um, this is the Santa hat that I just recently released for free,
so I'll link to that if you
want to go make one. But I want to see how
this thing compares to my tried and true clover. So I
just have some leftover yarn. Hopefully this is enough.
I think it is, but we may have to go get
We'll get more.
I want to see how easy these instructions
are and how well this thing works.
So we're supposed to use our thumb to guide this back and forth.
Let's see, which way does the yarn have it?
So it looks like it comes,
so I'm going to have to bring it up through here, through the hole.
Then it's going to catch right here.
It's a little bit offset, which I guess is good.
And then we're going to wind it.
This is 100 times, so just kind
of grasp it to keep it kind of tight-ish.
And then you're gonna go back and forth with your little guide,
and this is a hundred times,
I'm not counting, I'm just gonna keep
going until I think it looks good,
or until I run out of yarn, whatever's first.
So this part is very simple,
it doesn't seem to allow me to go past the edge,
basically, like it's not,
like if I keep going all the way to the left,
this is as far left as I can go, so it's not
coming over here so so far so good.
I think I'll definitely have enough yarn.
Just get this all nice and even though.
This is kind of enjoyable like the clover works really
well but it's kind of annoying to wind.
I'm not a fan of it totally but this end part once we
get this wound this may be the deal breaker on this one we'll see.
We'll see how I feel about it.
I'm starting to slide off the end here,
so that could be the indication that I should stop.
So I'm going to cut it here and see what it tells me to do next.
So it's got it outside of the little thingamajigger,
so I'm going to cut it, like, wherever.
I'm going to get that out.
Then it says to take this guy out, the handle.
Now it's telling me to gather and tie...
the center of the wound yarn with the yarn
so I'm trying to think about this
when I cut it so I think I need
to gather I might have done too many to be
able to gather this well
but I think I need to go all the way around my brain
does not want to quite work
On this, I think it has to go all the way around the outside.
I might need a yarn needle to get through this.
I probably shouldn't have wound it this thick,
but I like thick pom-poms, so let me get a yarn needle.
Okay, plastic ones come in handy.
So I'm going to go on this side,
hang it through all of it.
So I'm going to come here,
and then I'm going to come here.
I almost got this.
Here we go.
Okay, I think that's good.
I'm all the way on one side.
And then all the way here.
Make sure when you're doing pom poms
that you have strong yarn because you want to tie
it tight and you don't want it to break.
So acrylic is always good.
I'm going to give that a good tie
and let that do square knot
so it'll hold hopefully.
Okay.
Now the moment of truth.
We cut both.
It's got the channel here so that I can cut the yarn.
So let's see how this looks.
Scissors may not be sharp enough.
These are not fun scissors.
Let me get some better scissors.
Hold on.
I like these bigger handles.
This little guy, it's not sharp enough and it's hurting my fingers.
So I get the bigger handles for cutting pom-poms.
That's my end.
I'm going to leave that uncut.
And then I've got to cut the other side.
And then I guess we yank it through the center here.
Alrighty.
And this is a very
interesting pom-pom.
Let me try to fluff it up a little bit.
I don't know about that. I think it's going to be a very dense pom-pom.
It's going to require a lot
of trimming. This is also a tassel maker.
I feel like the tassels would probably work better.
I don't know about this for pom-poms.
Oh boy, boy. I don't know about that.
I'm
I think I'm going to stick with my Clover for pom-poms, but...
starting
How will it work for a tassel?
I have enough yarn, so let's try a tassel real quick.
Okay, so let's try a tassel. Maybe that will work better.
to
It says to use, like, embroidery thread or
floss, but that's not realistic.
speak
Like, when I make a tassel, it's going to be out of yarn, so
we're going to see how this one works.
Definitely not going to spin it as many times. Last one.
now.
Okay, so we still kind of do the same thing.
It says kind of in the middle and wind it 20 to 30 times
So I'm actually gonna count this time
I'm gonna do what it says and see if that works better.
If you guys have used this and you make
Good pom-poms out of this and give us some pointers leave it
in the comments so the rest of us can learn
So let's see. Let me remind myself how I did this.
Okay. Okay to 30. That's all we're gonna do here
cut this the length here
because it looks like we're going to gather it up here so it looks like
i'm going to need the yarn through the groove
so this will come in handy again i'm going to leave
this on here for now because i've noticed
that when i take it out it closes down which is not
helpful at all so let's pass the yarn needle first
and see if that makes it a little bit easier
Before we take it out.
I don't even know if we need to take out the handle, actually,
because we're going to cut it, so let's try it with the handle in.
See if that makes it a little easier, then we don't have to, like,
mess with it. So we're going to do a little tail here, gather and tie.
Now we're going to cut it, and it should, like,
I don't think we need to take the handle out, actually,
because it should just come right off the top.
Okay, and remove to create as shown.
And then you're supposed to take a tail piece here,
or something, ribbon, bow, whatever it says,
and tie it, because right now it just looks like
a weird mop kind of thing.
So you're supposed to kind of gather it, tie it.
So this makes kind of a short one.
Hmm, I wonder if it would have
been easier leaving it on there and doing it.
It tells you to tie it afterwards.
I don't know if I agree with that.
I feel like it's...
A couple of ways to make this a little bit better.
But it's kind of a short tassel.
I don't know if I like the length of it either.
I don't know.
I'm not totally in love with this thing.
If you guys know how to use this better,
because this is me trying it without any tutorials or anything,
so it's pretty easy to use.
I'm just not loving what it comes out with,
if you know what I mean.
And I've never made a tassel in my life,
So
This is not easy.
I feel like I should wrap this a couple of times
and maybe it'll look better.
I don't want to pull out anything.
I have a feeling that you're supposed to weave
these ends in or something when you're done.
Let me know in the comments!
Look at me just struggling.
Struggle bus big time.
Oh boy.
This is not easy!
I need like a peasant finger.
You know what I'm talking about?
Somebody that holds the finger on the knot
when you're wrapping your presents?
Oh boy.
Do not call me for tassels.
Oh geez.
Yeah, whatever.
I don't know.
I'm not feeling it.
I think I'm gonna stick with my clover.
Cool idea.
Might need a little bit more.
Maybe I just need more practice. I'll give it that.
It works well for what it's supposed to do.
I just don't know if I'm being really bad in the finishing part
or if maybe this thing needs to be
a little bit bigger to make kind of a better tassel.
And I might put too much yarn. This
this might be too poofy.
Like maybe just 20 turns would have been better. I did 30.
So I'll have to mess with it a little bit more
if I ever need to make tassels. I'll give it another
There we go.
I don't know if this is saveable.
I think I would have to like cut it down to like a tiny tiny
pom-pom. But also this said to use embroidery thread,
so probably it would work better if I had
followed those instructions.
But usually I'm making stuff with yarn, I don't make it with
embroidery thread. So I'm gonna give it the benefit of the doubt
and say that it does work,
it just needs more finishing. So
So
If it would work for you
or you think it would be something that's handy, I'll link it in
the description.
Okay, I got all three balls or hanks wound up and they look,
the color looks consistent
throughout.
That kind of worried me because I saw like kind
of this pink that I wasn't quite seeing
on the others, but it is in there.
I did see it.
Um, it's, you know, because it's so muted,
it might work up fine, it might just look
kind of pastel-y in whatever I choose to make with it,
but I'm not, you know,
Horribly disappointed with it. It is kind of like a scratchier wool.
It's not like a merino where it's super soft.
If it is wool, that's where the burn test is going to come in.
I've already cut a piece here. So I'm going to move this out
of the way to make sure we don't light anything extra.
Safety first always. So I'm going to kind of fold this in half
a little bit extra that we're burning. So on the screen is what each
fiber will do when you burn it. So if we have
a self-extinguishing flame, then we have a good
amount of wool. If it is melting and burning at the same time,
then it's going to be more acrylic.
So let's see what this does.
So it's kind of interesting.
It's kind
of self-extinguishing.
There we go. So
It looks like we do have a little bit of yellow,
which they say is the acrylic melt.
It melts and kind of turns yellow, but it did self-extinguish.
Which means it has wool in it,
so this content might actually be pretty accurate.
For the cashmere content,
I cannot tell you about that because it's only 10%,
10%.
Um,
but this seems to be more natural than artificial,
so that is a plus that we are actually getting
something that it is claiming to be.
So I'm happy with that because we did get a little bit of that
but self-extinguished, so good job,
uh, hand-dyed maker, whoever you are.
Thank you for actually containing what you said you were containing.
So with that said, let's go do some final thoughts.
Oh, I do want to show you the, um, the ash,
because that's another thing about the
Yarn, it should have a bead like ash if it's wool
and this looks very beady
So I think we have a good amount of wool in there.
So again, good job. All right, let's go to our final thoughts
So that is everything I got in this shipment overall I had some hits
and some misses I
I...
You know, I was pleasantly surprised with some of the items
and not so much with some of the others.
Would you try any of these?
I would love to hear what you think about each of these items.
Anything that surprised you
or something that you totally thought was a waste of money.
But, I am Deja with Knit and Crochet Ever After,
and thank you for watching!
