Ness Timmons' days with the Cape Breton Capers are winding down.
He's coached the program since it started in 1996
and has even had the field named after
him.
But now with only a handful of practices and games remaining,
he's taking in all the moments
he has left in Capers Orange.
I've had a lot of great years, and it just comes with time.
So it has been great, and I'm enjoying every day of it for sure.
I still got lots of energy,
and who knows what I'll do after the season.
But for now, I'm going to pass the torch.
Timmons, who's originally from New Waterford, just outside Sydney,
had no plans to be the head coach of the second attempt at a CBU team.
He only signed on for one year, and it didn't go as planned.
We didn't get a win and then
when we finally got a tie we thought we won the World Cup.
But he stuck around.
Timmons took that fresh program and turned it into a maritime soccer
powerhouse. No other women's soccer coach
in AUS history has won more conference championships
than Timmons. He's been awarded national coach of the year three times
and has coached seven
different AUS MVPs. I've never had a coach like Ness honestly like
The way he can inspire his players
is insane like he's definitely not really a huge on the tactics
but the way he connects with his players like he just motivates us
and I feel like especially this
year every game we've played for Ness
and we want to win him one more AUS title this year.
Leah DeCipio, who's one of three team captains,
agrees with Hannah Ford.
He's so understanding. He's kind.
He sees you as more of a soccer player.
He sees you as a 20-year-old who's here away from school.
But ultimately, he wants the best for you and he knows what's
the best for you and that just makes you want to work so much harder.
Ladies and gentlemen, please join me in recognizing
and celebrating Coach Ness Timmons.
Timmons has already coached his last game
at CBU with only the playoffs remaining.
He's not sure how he'll feel
when the final whistle blows on his illustrious career.
I'm gonna have to play that one by here for sure Ethan
and so we'll see how I feel
you know when it is my last game.
Timmons and the Capers are the top seed entering the AUS championships
and the coach hopes to end
To end his career with a second national banner.
