If anybody's questioning, where's the Raider gear?
Okay, guys, I'm worried.
I just got to be honest with you.
There's something keeping me up at night.
I mean, the Raiders keep me up at night a lot,
but this thing is a thing that's really been,
it's been racking my brain for a while.
Should we consider drafting a wide receiver
with the 13th pick or in the second round?
Because Davante Adams, he's not going to be around forever.
And we know all too well, shout out to T-Swift,
what it's like to not have a number one wideout it stinks
and sans Amari Cooper we haven't really
been able to draft a good one Henry Ruggs you
know notwithstanding we know what happened seemed
like he was turning into something decent
and with our current draft position it doesn't seem
like we're going to get a quarterback
so if we draft one next year or if we hope that Aiden takes
the next step. It needs to happen pretty fast
for us to get any usable prime years left out of
Devontae Adams. Look, I'm not putting him in a body bag already.
He's not that old. But three
years from now, what's more likely?
Aiden O'Connell is at a level good enough to have been able to use
Devontae Adams in games that could win you a Super Bowl?
Or Aiden turns out to not be that guy.
neither does Minshew we're kind
of in this weird quarterback limbo again and Davante puts up good
numbers but we've wasted him in games that don't really matter
and the reason I'm saying this is
not because I lack confidence in AOC
or because I don't know Minshew could become Rich Gannon 2.0
right I say it because I think we really need
to consider looking for his replacement right now
so he could mentor him, by the time Davante leaves,
whoever the kid is that we take
can step into his shoes.
And by then, Aiden or Gardner, whoever we draft, will be ready to take
the reins. Because you have to think next year,
Davante will be as good as he can be. The year
after that, he'll be as good as he can be.
That third year, and I know I'm looking into the horizon
here, but that's what Tom Telesco is doing, dude.
If you're managing the salary cap and you're
willing to deal and we got to sign this guy,
we got to tender this guy, we got to franchise this
guy. You're looking years down the road.
That's part of your job. I don't know if Davante is going
to be able to produce the way he's been able to produce,
getting paid so much money in the
back end of his deal to be worth keeping around.
Now, I'm not saying we should be looking to trade
Davante Adams because I'm anti-tank and I'm anti-sell now to win later.
I don't know if I'm
going to be alive tomorrow, so I want to win every game
that I can right now while I'm watching them.
and winning the Bronco game at the end
of the year was much more worth it to me
than getting the 11th pick in the draft or whatever.
Okay, Pro Bowlers are drafted in the sixth round,
seventh round, Mr. Irrelevant.
If you can't find a good guy at 13,
you needed the 11th pick, get out of here.
We're not losing games on purpose.
My point is, and I'm pro-keeping Devontae
if we trade up for a quarterback.
Listen, I'm pro-keeping Davante no matter what.
I'm just weighing out all the options.
And right now, you know, if you draft
a Jayden Daniels or a J.J. McCarthy
or you find a way to get one of these quarterbacks
right you need weapons for them to throw to because
they need to build confidence say what you want
about Justin Fields he had nothing to work with
in Chicago until DJ Moore got there
so how is he supposed to develop at all Patrick Mahomes stepped
into a situation with the best offensive play caller
in the history of the National Football
League the best tight end in the history
of National Football League and when it's all said
and done probably a top 10 wide receiver in the history
of the National Football League and Kareem
Hunt who was pretty damn good so my point is if we have a rookie
or we're trying to develop Aiden
then you keep Davante on because they need to have
the best available weapons to develop mentally
and to gain more confidence,
which I think Aiden showed that he did throughout the season.
I'm just worried that we're going to waste Davante
while we don't have a quarterback,
and we could blame all of that on Josh McDaniels
because say what you want about Derek Carr,
Davante was producing at an elite level with Derek.
I might have the solution to this because
I don't think Harrison, Neighbors,
or Doomsday is going to fall to us. I don't see us trading up
for them. I don't see us drafting them at all.
And there was a report that came out today that
we're going to draft a cornerback or an offensive tackle.
Those are our two focuses, and I'm totally
fine with that. Those are areas of need,
and those are areas that you need to have a cornerstone.
You need to have a cornerstone corner,
a cornerstone corner, a cornerstone tackle,
a cornerstone end, defensive end,
and a cornerstone wide receiver. And obviously,
the quarterback is a cornerback.
What if the replacement for Davante Adams, and by replacement,
and I don't just mean wide receiver.
I mean focal point of the offense, game changer, blah, blah, blah.
What if that guy's Brock Bowers?
Would you consider drafting Brock Bowers
and becoming a team like the Kansas City Chiefs
who has a speed burner on the outside like, I don't know, Trey Tucker,
who seems to be getting wide open
in these National Football League games.
He just has a hard time grabbing the football
as soon as it touches his hands.
A little bobble action from Trey Tucker.
You build it around Trey Tucker and the new George Kittle,
Travis Kelsey, Darren Waller,
and his name is Brock Bowers if he falls to 13
that will easily without question in my mind
be the best available prospect to draft
a surefire Pro Bowl type player the only reason he would fall
to 15 is because there's a run on quarterbacks
and a run on offensive tackles and wide receivers
and people are scared that Kyle Pitts didn't do so well
so well we can't draft another SEC
tight end in the top six, right? Wrong.
That's not how you make your name as a GM. You make your name
as a GM by picking the guys who become Hall of Famers.
And Davante will have a green jacket
one day. Green? Are they green? I'm watching the Masters.
They're gold. We could shape our new
offense around Zamir White, Brock Bowers, and Trey Tucker.
That's something to build upon
with Davante still here
and then by the time Davante leaves Brock Bowers is the best tight
end in the league unguardable Travis Kelsey-esque
and then you look for complimentary wide receivers
to put around him maybe you trade for a Brandon Aiyuk
in 2025 using a pick you got when you traded
Davante Adams and all of a sudden you've got
Aiyuk Bowers Trey Tucker did I just sneaky come
up with a really good plan
on the spot i don't know guys it's just options to consider is this
