Where police shot and killed a driver who officers say rammed a patrol
car during an arrest warrant operation tonight.
Good evening and thank you for joining us. I'm Russ Spencer.
The man investigators were looking for is still on the run.
Fox 5's Tara Jabbour joins us live now
from Atlanta Police Headquarters.
Tara, what led to this?
Well, Russ, police say this all started as they were trying
to serve an arrest warrant for domestic violence
and aggravated assault in northwest Atlanta.
Now that suspect is still on the run tonight
and GBI is leading the investigation.
Montana police say on Thursday officers went
to an apartment complex in the 1100 block
of Joseph E. Boone Boulevard NW to serve
an arrest warrant for domestic violence and aggravated
assault.
APD Deputy Chief Prenzina Spann says officers spotted
the suspect outside the complex.
Our suspect and another individual got into a vehicle,
they attempted to flee.
The driver of that vehicle began
to immediately ram our officer's vehicle.
The officers discharged their weapons at the driver
of that vehicle where he succumbed to
his injuries. Police say that suspect is still on the run.
The scene shut down a part of Joseph
E. Boone Boulevard Northwest for a few hours.
This happened near an apartment complex. It's unknown
whether he stayed in that apartment or not,
but he was observed outside of the apartment. We aren't
sure if the suspect or the driver were armed at the time.
The GBI is leading this investigation.
And we don't know yet the name of the person who died or the suspect.
We'll, of course, keep you updated as we learn more.
But for now, reporting live
from Atlanta Police Headquarters, Tara Jabbour, Fox 5 News.
Tara, thanks for the latest there.
