With Election Day now just days away,
the candidates at the top of the ticket are crisscrossing the state,
making their final push to rally supporters
and win over undecided voters.
New York Governor Kathy Hochul spent
the day traveling from Albany to New York City,
carving out half an hour to sit down exclusively
with our senior reporter,
Tara Rosenblum, at a firehouse in Mount Vernon.
Here's some of what she had to say.
What is your closing argument to voters out there
who think that this is
already over or to voters out there
who somehow a few days away are still on the
fence? Now my message is very clear.
I have been so honored to be the governor
of this state. It is a very diverse state
and I understand the stresses that
families are going through.
I've lived many of them. I want them to know that
I'm going to continue fighting for them
with every fiber of my being. I'm a
fighter to my core.
And when I have to stand up and fight to try
and get auto insurance premiums reduced,
more money back in people's pockets with energy rebates,
to make sure we continue
the largest middle-class tax rate cut in 70 years,
I want to make sure that families have more money back in their pockets
and protect our kids by taking cell phones out of schools
and making sure there's food for every child for breakfast
and lunch in schools.
I know how to take care of people, especially our kids.
And I want to...
I'd be honored to have the support
of everyone and no one should stay home.
No one should say this election is over
because there's still so much on the line.
And the governor also discussed her new law to combat human trafficking
along with her plans to address mental health and homelessness.
And we'll have much more of that exclusive
conversation tomorrow right here on News 12.
