Everyone here has been talking about hunger, lack of shelter.
We can take a look around
see what's going on. The people have been staying in,
these are classrooms, the men have been
staying in these classrooms,
men we've spoken to saying hundreds of people sleep in those.
It's stuffy, it's crammed.
This is a concern of course for for health and disease as is
The incoming rainy season, you can see here the entrance where trucks
have been driving in with supplies is churned to mud and of course
if this rainfall continues when there are thousands of people living.
Intense on the school playing field. That's going to be disastrous.
The Red Cross says it's trying to give people two meals a day
Not everyone says that they're getting that
and then
Of course people don't have any
of the other basics that they would normally
Use to survive because most people fled with almost nothing
and people because of the closure of the border the
Complete closure of trade there were trucks lined up along
the road a lot of the people we've spoken to live
On the Ethiopian side, but come to work on the Kenyan side,
buy and sell goods every day.
All of that at a complete standstill.
It's apart from the fact that people have left homes,
possessions, food and everything on the Ethiopian side.
Some of those homes, people have heard,
have been destroyed with the rockets that were fired and the fighting.
But now people have lost any means of earning an income
and buying something to eat as well.
