The other thing I was talking to him, Silas, about is, you know,
there are kids who work really hard and they go to acting class
and they're, you know, in theater class and they're doing all the work.
You can't just take apart from that person just because you're my son.
Like, that's not cool.
We're not doing that.
Jessica Biel says she's teaching her son Silas an early lesson about
nepotism, despite the 11-year-old being cast in Mom's new movie.
Biel stars alongside John Cena in the action-packed Matchbox the movie
based on the popular toy cars now streaming on Apple TV
and if you blink you might miss
her and Justin Timberlake's eldest kid in the movie
on the Great Chat podcast Biel described
the part as a teeny tiny speaking role
but claimed that if Silas had been offered a big monologue
she and Timberlake would not have allowed him to do it
to avoid him being handed an opportunity just
because of his famous parents
Indeed, Silas' mom and dad broke into showbiz the old-fashioned way,
through hard work, talent, and luck.
Beale was just 14 when she was first cast
in her big TV break, 7th Heaven.
And of course, Justin Timberlake was a teen idol
in the 90s as part of the boy band NSYNC,
which went on to sell nearly 50 million albums worldwide.
That said, Beale also told podcast host Josh Smith
that she doesn't want to squash her kids' dreams either.
Because he's been talking about maybe being interested.
And of course, with your kids, you don't want to squash their dreams,
even though I kind of want to squash this one.
Yeah, you're like, please.
I'm like, please don't do this.
Please don't do this.
Anything but this.
It's really savage.
It's really hard.
Beale and Timberlake, who married in 2012,
have two kids together, Silas, 11, and Phineas, 6.
Last year, she told InStyle that she
and Timberlake don't like to expose their children
in a way they're not comfortable with, adding,
It's scary every time, but it's also their life.
And so it's this really tricky,
tricky thing to figure out what's appropriate.
