Boston restaurants could open months faster under Mayor Wu’s new plan

Opening a restaurant in Boston could soon become much easier.

Mayor Michelle Wu announced proposed zoning reforms to cut red tape, speed up permitting, and help local restaurants and small businesses open faster. The plan would allow permits for existing restaurants to transfer to new owners, potentially reducing wait times from several months to less than two weeks in some cases.
