90 million people did not vote that could have voted.
And that was more people than the winning side had.
So we're trying to get participation up.
Scotty Smart is crisscrossing the streets
of Atlanta with one goal in mind,
to get out the black vote.
I love Atlanta. I was raised in southwest Atlanta.
So the community that we're going to now is in southwest Atlanta.
I want to see this community have better resources.
And you can get better resources for your community through
community engagement and civic engagement and voting.
The African-American activist is heading
for an event to mobilize voters.
We are where the party at.
Our job is to make politics make sense for everyday people.
And everyday people like the party.
That's why we're at the polls.
So we got party buses going to pick up college.
They're going to be on here.
The grill going all day.
It's going to be 7 to 7, 12 hours, all day.
We had 366 votes so far.
Scottie's activism began in August 2014,
shortly after Michael Brown, a teenager from Ferguson, Missouri,
was killed by a police officer.
Twelve years later, Scottie published his first book,
All Power Back to the People.
The way we talk about politics in America,
it feels like it's for the upper class,
and people talk over your head,
and sometimes people are too embarrassed to ask the questions
They don't want to feel belittled by someone by not knowing.
So I wanted to write something that
allowed them to read it and be like,
connect the dots between this policy,
your life, and people you're voting for.
Amid a cost-of-living crisis,
Scotty believes the people have the power in the 2026 midterms.
This is one of the few times in this country where
the government's decisions are affecting people directly,
where they're seeing the cost of living go up,
they're seeing everything change around them.
racism is very prevalent
and now you're seeing it the highest level at the highest of offices
and they have really nothing to explain
or any pushback for it they don't want what's best for
people they want what's best for themselves
so i unfortunately had to get to this point
now people are saying oh this decision
that this person made is affecting me in this way
and so i think that is what's going to get turnout
to its highest right now i'm hoping
we have the highest voter turnout we've ever had
in history in Georgia early voting ends on Friday
Today, October 30th, ahead of the November 3rd election,
Georgia's Democratic Senator
John Ossoff is standing for re-election.
It could be a crucial race for Democrats
to regain the majority in the Senate.
