Bill Maher's dinner with Donald Trump serves as a catalyst for a broader discussion on civil discourse. By contrasting Trump's hospitable private demeanor with his volatile public image, the narrative challenges political polarization and \"cancel culture,\" urging a return to respectful debate and active civic participation regardless of political affiliation.
Bill Maher just walked back into Donald Trump's White House.
Again, guys, voluntarily. Nobody
kidnapped him. We checked. Then he strolled onto HBO.
He looked his liberal audience dead in the
eyes and he said, basically, I like these dinners.
Now, last time, he came home with charts and
photos and an apology tour longer than a CVS receipt.
This time, nothing. Like, just, I did
it again. Britney would be proud.
Somewhere in Malibu, a man just dropped his kale smoothie.
But here's the twist, guys.
Bill Maher didn't come back with horror stories. No screaming,
no flip tables, Trump never yelled,
never lost his temper, never interrupted him.
Bill Maher said that he couldn't have
been treated better if he was Russian. Translation,
the scariest man in America turned out
to be a pretty great dinner host.
10 years of cable news nightmares, folks, all down the drain.
Oh, and it gets even wilder,
Bill Maher brought ESPN's Stephen A. Smith as his plus one
and gave himself an A plus for it,
which honestly, fair.
Then he invited former White House Press Secretary Caroline Leavitt
onto his show in front of his own Hollywood crowd.
Oh, and they didn't boo. They actually
clapped. A real-time audience, guys,
applauding for Caroline Leavitt on Bill Maher's show.
Hollywood is officially on life support at this point.
Somebody please grab the paddles.
The left's cancel machine fired up to take Bill Maher out.
Problem is it's jammed because Bill
Maher, he didn't leave the Democrats.
The Democrats left him and they didn't even leave a forwarding
address. Turns out it's really hard to cancel a guy
who's never asked for your permission slip.
Well, today, guys, we're going to go ahead
and get what the media skipped, what President Trump
is really like when the cameras go off and how one word,
honey, actually sent the left sprinting
for the fainting couch. Oh, and the line that Stephen
A. Smith dropped that completely silenced
the entire political party. Debating, not hating, guys.
Apparently, this is radical now.
Oh, and real quick, if you or someone you love
is on Medicare or turning 65 years old,
Chapter offers completely free Medicare help,
real human beings, plain English,
and they're saving the average senior about $1,100 a year,
which, in my opinion, I think
that's pretty freaking good. Give them a call.
Phone number's down below. I also left it in
the description, guys. 909-563-8279.
And I'm hearing that the call volume the whole time is
a little bit lower on the weekends.
Now, if you're new here, go ahead and hit subscribe. It took
Bill Maher two White House dinners to see the light.
You can do it in just one click. No
reservation required. And if you're smiling
by the end of the video, leave me a like on the way
out. Totally appreciate you. Promise you we won't tell Hollywood.
All right. We got to go ahead and
rewind back to the first dinner. That's right, guys.
Bill Maher goes to the White House, eats
with Donald Trump comes home and then panics.
Yeah, he shows up on HBO with photos and illustrations,
this whole slideshow. Kind of like a kid explaining
to mom why the baseball's in the living room and
why the window isn't. It wasn't a monologue,
it was a hostage video with better lighting.
This time, different guy. No slideshow, no apology.
Bill Maher walks out. So then Bill
Maher flipped the whole thing around on his critics.
He said basically, I know, I'm the bad
guy. Because I say to the man's face the stuff
that you write in articles that he'll never read.
Ooh, ouch. So who's really brave here?
The guy who's sitting across the table from the most
powerful man on earth or the folks that are firing off
these angry posts from behind a keyboard?
Yeah, exactly what I friend
who won't sit at Thanksgiving dinner with Uncle Bob because of
a yard sign. Yeah, go ahead and send him this video right now.
Maybe Bill Maher, he can do
what the turkey couldn't do. So picture this, right?
You're Bill Maher. You're standing outside
the Oval Office. Shoes are shined, tie straight, palms are sweaty.
So the door swings open and
Aide in a crisp suit leans out and says, sir,
your seven o'clock low ratings dummy is here.
This is how Bill Maher joked about it on HBO.
And honestly, funniest thing said on that network
since the last time that they announced a price hike.
So then he bragged that he gave himself an
A-plus for bringing Stephen A. Smith.
Because if you're walking into the lion's den, you bring the
loudest man in sports as your backup. And the kicker?
Well, Bill Maher said that he couldn't
have been treated better if he was Russian.
Guys, 10 years of Russia, Russia, Russia, and Bill Maher
just turned it into a dinner joke.
Now, I don't know about you, but this is not a guy hiding from
the room. This is a guy who finally got...
So now, here's where the media's whole story starts to
crack. For 10 years, they told you that Donald Trump was a monster,
a screamer, a table flipper,
basically a cartoon villain with a spray tan budget.
So what did Bill Maher find behind the
door? Well, Trump never lost his temper, never interrupted him.
Bill Maher even admitted that
he was the one that was doing the interrupting.
Wow, Bill Maher did the interrupting that they
are always accusing Trump of doing. Huh.
Oh, and no matter how mouthy Bill Maher got, Trump never
once played the how dare you card.
So Bill Maher, he also said talking to him felt like talking to
a guy at the bar. Sure, the best guy at the bar,
and he's drinking a Diet Coke, because Trump
doesn't drink, never has. Now picture it, candlelit table,
one man waving his hands like he's landing
a plane, the other just nodding, listening.
CNN had a decade to show you that guy. It's funny how
they never actually found the footage.
Alright, so here's a moment no camera caught, and it might
actually be the most important one.
Bill Maher pushes back. He tells Trump, look, when you say
the Supreme Court is voting against you, this is not how this works.
You pick the justices. They
decide the cases. They're not your fantasy football team.
Now, every pundit on cable would pretty much
bet their house on what happens next.
Explosion and fireworks and Secret Service drags Bill Maher
out by his tie. But instead, President Trump just says,
yeah, I took that one a little bit too
personal. That's it, guys. This is the whole.
Name the last politician who did that. Seriously,
go ahead. We'll wait for you. I'm still waiting for you.
Now, Congress, they can't even admit
that they were wrong about the cafeteria menu.
So let's go ahead and get one thing straight. Bill Maher,
he is not a Republican, not even close.
In fact, he was a Democrat until 2016. He voted for Bill
Clinton and he says that he regrets it now.
Never voted for George W. Bush. Never voted for Barack
Obama either. Proud liberal, card-carrying,
probably has a Prius with a coexist sticker.
So what changed? Not Bill, the party.
Now, picture Bill Maher, standing in a
train platform, coffee in hand with the Democratic Party Express,
roaring right on past him. Off the
rails, headed for a cliff marked everyone who disagrees as Hitler.
So then came the campus
chants, guys. From the river to the sea.
From the window to the wall. Bill Maher has been loud about
anti-Semitism for years.
He even watched his own side drift somewhere that he refused to follow.
He didn't move. The ground moved under him, guys.
And so now they're blaming the one guy who stayed
put. Now, picture the Hollywood Hills, big houses,
bigger egos, and parked in the driveway a giant
rusty machine with one red button. It says cancel.
For years the machine worked great,
say the wrong thing, gone. Shake the wrong hand, gone.
Eat at the wrong restaurant,
believe it or not, gone. So basically they wheel it out for Bill Maher
and press the button. Clunk,
sputter, smoke, nothing. It's a dud.
So if the left can't cancel one of their own,
right in the backyard of cancel culture,
the machine is apparently broken.
Now, compare that to Jelly Roll. Yes, Jelly Roll.
We all remember what happened to him.
He once shook President Trump's hand at a UFC fight,
built a huge fan base on both sides of
the aisle. But then he guest hosts Jimmy Kimmel's show,
mocks President Donald Trump's weight,
and then he tells fans who don't like it to go right ahead
and stop listening. Well,
they went ahead and did that. They stopped listening.
Ratings plummeted. So no mob,
no machine just a radio dial now country singer Jelly Roll
is in damage control after a backlash
to his unfunny and painfully woke monologues
while filling in for Jimmy Kimmel and of course
like a good lefty he's now crying the victim
and just crying remember when these late night shows
were actually fun they were funny they
were entertaining now they are like a sad little
group therapy session it is never
too late to do the right thing
hurting hearts are more important
than poll numbers and there are no boundaries
or borders for broken families so he's now for
open borders or does he just read out whatever trash
the Kimmel writers put in front of him
i'm a convicted felon who was given the opportunity to change his life
and the fact is that wasn't a
joke y'all this country gave me room
and a chance to become something more than the biggest and
worst mistake i ever made i got to build a life i got
to make music i got to take care of my family
i got to stand on that stage that night
and win a Grammy i i i i i what happened to giving all
credit to Jesus i remember when Jelly Roll used to mention God
and Jesus in just about every line
but now it's almost like he's just
a self-obsessed disingenuous grifter now picture Bill Maher's studio
Hollywood crowd, at least three people
in the front row still drinking out of a Resist coffee
mug. Oh, and who walks out? Caroline Leavitt.
That's right. Former White House press secretary.
This should have been a roast. Instead, she won the room, guys.
She told him how President Trump
really runs things. He throws out the topic of the day
and then he goes around the table. Junior
staffer, chief of staff, everybody. What do you think?
He listens and then he decides. This is
a builder's move, guys.
Any real construction boss knows the foreman will swear everything's
great. So you skip the foreman
and you ask the guys that are holding the hammers.
If more Democrats-
He's so calm in there. This is a man
that people have tried to kill more than once.
60 Minutes called the White House the safest place in America
because behind those walls,
he can finally just listen. All right, let's be fair, guys.
Let's be fair. This is what we do
here. Some of you guys are squinting at your screens right now.
Is Bill Maher a fair weathered
friend? Would he be saying any of this if Kamala Harris had won?
Is Trump just keeping his critics
close? Well, I think those are all valid questions.
Very good questions. So let's go ahead and put
Bill Maher on trial, shall we? Exhibit A, he went back twice.
Yes. Exhibit B, he defended it on his
own stage in front of his own crowd.
Exhibit C, he booked a Trump loyalist and actually let her
talk. Now, I don't know about you guys,
but this is a lot of work for a fake. Now, maybe he's
sincere. Maybe he's just tired of his own side screaming at him.
Either way, guys, the hate
machine loses because a liberal and Donald Trump sharing dessert,
this is their worst nightmare
with sprinkles. So then Bill Maher asked Caroline Leavitt,
the big one, principle or person? Now,
if Trump did something you disagreed with,
would you still stand by him? Her answer gave the whole
room chills. She called Trump her boss,
but also her friend, the man who gave her the chance of a
lifetime. Now, picture a 27-year-old at the White House podium,
a wall of cameras, a whole town
whispering she's too young.
Trump told her, honey, lots of people said that you were too young. And
he told them that he was building buildings
in Manhattan to the nearest couch over the word
honey. Oh yeah, they're so sensitive.
Oh, you got to be politically correct. You can't say honey,
you're a man, she's a woman. Get out of my face.
Meanwhile, Bill Maher, his audience, did something
that nobody saw coming. They actually applauded.
And then Stephen A. Smith actually told his side.
And Stephen A., he does not do quiet.
This man, when it comes to volume, there is nothing other
than 10. It's either zero or 10. Hours.
They argued for hours. Bill Maher went down his list
of Trump policies that he can't stand one by one.
And Trump, gracious, hospitable. He even
complimented Stephen A., who had questioned Trump's
smarts just weeks earlier. Now, picture the scene.
empty dessert plates, loosened ties.
The clock is creeping toward midnight. Nobody's storming out.
Nobody's crying. Nobody's calling HR. And at the end of the night,
Trump invited them both back.
Now, let me get this straight, guys.
10 years of dictator and the dictator's big power move is
asking his critics to come back for dinner.
This guy is the worst dictator ever. He sucks at
dictatorship. So then Stephen A, he completely dropped it.
Bill Maher told Trump he's a proud
liberal who doesn't like a lot of his policies
but this doesn't mean that he has to hate him
oh and with that Stephen A said we agree silence president's gonna
be the president with the
cameras off behind the scenes he could not have
been more hospitable he could not have been nicer
he could not have been more complimentary even
towards somebody whose aptitude he just questioned
weeks ago oh by the way he actually invited me back along
with Bill Maher oh this this used to
be normal. Ronald Reagan and Tip O'Neill fought all day
and shared a drink after six. Charlie
Kirk? Charlie Kirk, guys.
He built a whole movement on this one idea. Sit down, talk to me,
prove me wrong. And he was killed doing exactly that.
Debating, not hating. This is his legacy
too. Now, the midterms are just days away.
If you sat out until Trump came along and Gen X,
it is time to mount up, guys.
Disagree all you want, but go ahead and show up and vote.
So here's the picture. A long dinner table,
stretching coast to coast, liberals, conservatives,
Bill Maher, Stephen A. Smith, every seat filled.
Nobody storming out. This is the America worth
fighting for. The media missed it. You didn't.
Now, if this put a smile on your face, do me one
favor on the way out. Hit the like button.
One second costs you nothing. And it helps this reach
somebody who still thinks that the other side is the enemy.
And if you're not subscribed yet,
what are you waiting for? We are not slowing down.
And trust me, guys, there's a lot more coming.
hit subscribe so you don't miss it. We'll see you next time.
