Now, Christmas, Thanksgiving, they're going to be here before you know it. With the holiday shopping season fast approaching, local sports fans have a unique opportunity to cross some of the items off their list right away while giving back at the same time. A real win-win. The Washington Nationals hosting a special sidewalk sale outside of the team store, and it even features some rare, one-of-a-kind sports memorabilia. Our Gwen Talbert is there to check out all the great finds, and it looks like people are really finding little treasures there. there's a lot of treasures here i want to tell you angie i mean if you're a nats fan or have a nats fan in your life you definitely don't want to miss this event now i'm going to walk over here and talk to kelly de serbo and this is really an important event for the nats you know is it something that's done every year yeah we've done the sidewalk sale almost annually now it's a great opportunity to clean out our closets post-season for a great cause and speaking of that cause tell me about the philanthropic arm of the nats yeah so nationals philanthropies is the official charitable arm of the Washington Nationals. All of the proceeds from today's sale will benefit our community impact work, especially the food access and youth development programs at the Nationals Youth Baseball Academy in Ward 7. All right, we've got some pretty rare items as well, one of a kind. Tell us about some of this. Yeah, we've got signed jerseys, game-used jerseys, autographed baseballs. We even have so many signed hats, especially some from the All-Star game are really cool, three for just $20. What would you say was the rarest item that went today? Oh, wow. We had lineup cards and team-signed baseballs from the 2019 World Series. I think they went about 30 seconds into the sale. Oh, my goodness. All right, let's come over here and talk to a couple of fans. This is Carol and Mary Catherine. Carol, are you a big fan? Absolutely. Okay, and you've done some shopping here today. Tell me about what you've bought and why. Okay, well, I bought some bobbleheads. I have all the bobbleheads from the very beginning of the Nationals, every one of them. Some of them I had to get online. But anyway, these are to give away to, like, a shelter. We do presents for the women's shelter. And I always get bobbleheads because the kids always like those as extras over what they request. So that's amazing. I mean, the proceeds are going to help, you know, philanthropy. And Mary Catherine is giving back again with her purchase. How have you done so far with the funds coming in? Since 3 p.m. today, we've raised over $20,000 already for our cause. Wow, that is amazing. So we know it all wraps up at 7 o'clock tonight, so come on out because, you know, it's first come, first serve at this event. Guys, all right.
