'Still in shock': Female angler catches monster sturgeon in B.C. |The Moment

I never thought that as a female angler, I would be catching a lifetime fish, a white sturgeon on the river. Initially, a few people were like, that's AI, that's not real. And it was like, no, that was real. The fish was 11 foot four to the fork length, most likely the largest freshwater fish caught by a female. We do guided fishing trips here in British Columbia, having Catherine land something so elusive. It's a very special moment for the whole industry. I love sturgeon. I'd never been out on a river fishing, and I thought, I'm going to do that one day. I think we were out for a couple hours. I was just happy to be there, see any type of sturgeon that I could, and catching, like, one that big was certainly unexpected. I got to share it, like, with my boyfriend who went with me. I think sometimes still I'm in shock that it happened. Those sturgeons are massive. They look prehistoric. And despite the name of the group that took her out, Sturgeon Slayers, the fish was tagged, released, and will be monitored. for studies of sturgeons in the Fraser.
