I did not know I was in a cult.
Romana DiDolo is a cult leader
who has convinced tens of thousands of followers.
She is the Queen of Canada.
This is for the Kingdom of Canada.
Yeah, it is 100% a cult.
It is really controlled by Romana
and a couple of people who are her left-hand people.
They dictate what goes.
They don't really have a concrete ideology.
It constantly shifts.
it's really whatever romana wants covid was like
a mass um trauma that a lot of people endured
um especially these people they're isolated from their friends
and their family they
you know they didn't take the vaccine
so then they couldn't work they were going through economic
hardship and romana sort of arrived as like
a savior you know she was like well you can join
my canada where all of these things don't matter
um and you can have a community again like here's
bunch of people who who think exactly like you think
who let you voice your opinions who won't
push you aside and it's very appealing she told us
that our phones had been bugged and she was
taking away people's power you can't manage
a camp with 10 people how can you fix the world
i really feel horrible
for the former members
of the group because all
like they see these other
these people who they went through covid
with in chat rooms um who event they eventually
transitioned into real life like they see them
as their family members like they see them as
their like close friends um and as soon
as they stop getting along with Romana they're cut off
from all those people and they have to start again
so again they're isolated again they're
pushed to the fringe again
and that's a point i make with the doc sort of is like at the end of
that one of our main characters, Kim,
is basically saying, I couldn't find salvation in Romana,
but I'm looking for the next thing.
