Lions, tigers, and T-Rexes.
Grab your costumes for the Phoenix Zoo's Spooky Safari.
Yeah, you can trick-or-treat alongside the roaring dinosaurs
for a wild Halloween night that the whole family will love.
Anita Roman with more.
Calling all ghost goblins and dinosaur lovers.
We're going to have some spooky fun at the zoo. The Phoenix Zoo.
Yeah, so we're over here currently at Dinos in the Desert,
but we're not here to talk about just them.
We're talking about Spooky Safari,
our awesome Halloween event here at the Phoenix Zoo.
But the reason we're here is because we're going
to be trick-or-treating around the dinosaurs.
Normally, we go around getting candy from lions,
bears, tigers, savannah, oh my, right?
But now, we're getting a little bit bigger
because we have Dinos in the Desert and Spooky Safari all in one year.
The Dinos in the Desert might be one of my favorite exhibits
when you guys have it.
It's so lifelike.
I have been a dinosaur kid since as long as I can remember.
And being here at the zoo working amongst these dinosaurs,
if little seven-year-old me could see
what I'm doing now, she would flip.
Isn't that incredible?
So you're going to have little stations
set up where the kids can grab some candy.
We really want everyone to encourage
everyone, come in costume, have fun.
Yes, come out here in costume, have fun.
We're going to have a costume parade.
There's games for the kids out there.
Of course, so much candy and animals.
But we have one animal with us.
Yeah, we have a very big one up there,
of course, our Tyrannosaurus Rex.
But we have animals even small,
like a little Madagascar hissing cockroach.
Can we kind of call him a dinosaur because I don't really,
I know, I'm like, okay, okay.
He's clean.
Hi, how are you?
There we go.
Can we call him a dinosaur?
Yeah, I mean, you know.
Animals like these guys have lived for millions of years,
so you actually might have seen
cockroaches like this, probably a little bit
bigger, back in the time of the dinosaurs.
Okay, so do they hiss?
Do they fly?
What do they do?
These guys, thankfully, do not fly, only when they're upset, like this.
These guys do hiss.
They sound like a little balloon releasing air
when they get a little upset, but they're
so comfortable with us now that we rarely
hear them hissing. Only when we pick them
up initially they get a little spooked.
They're not even bothered by the dinosaur. Oh no,
he has no idea there's a dinosaur up there.
Okay, when's all the fun happening? So tonight
at 5.30 to 8.30 and we're going to be doing
this from Wednesday through Friday every evening
5.30 to 8.30. Tickets are $18. It is amazing.
Make sure you get them because it's going
to be the most amazing Halloween experience this year.
It's a great way to trick or treat
and enjoy. We'll put all that up in our website fox10phoenix.com.
Happy Halloween everyone.
Don't find this inside your trick-or-treat bag.
Yeah, you don't want that.
That's a trick, not a treat.
