He also details his rigorous preparation, his respect for the opposing defense, and his commitment to continuous improvement in every aspect of his game.
You know, kind of launched its Heisman campaign for you and Darian.
I won't ask you why you should win,
but I asked Darian the same thing about you.
Why do you think he should win?
He's just an unbelievable player, put the ball wherever it needs to be.
He's just a leader.
He's just the play speaks for itself.
Can you give us a little insight into how, I mean,
he's only been here 10 months, 9 months, whatever it's been.
How close have you two gotten as guys?
We see the connection on the field, but as men, what's
the relationship like with you guys, and how close have you gotten?
Man, me and Darian got closer, close,
and within these past few months, it's just been crazy.
Me and him was just in the locker room talking about how
we seen each other at Prime 112 after he committed here
and was getting adapted to how Miami and stuff like that.
like he was moving in being him just talking about
that but we just grown so close in the
within these past months thank you all right next
up we'll go to Sarah um so hi so right now you
lead the nation in total receptions with 66 catches
for college football but obviously you
can't do that on your own
so what does it mean to you just to have an offense and a team of wide
receivers that are able to take those hits
and make those blocks for you so that you can uh be
at the top of the leaderboard in the nation
um it means a lot um there's a lot of stuff that
going to play that everybody don't see
the they probably just see a highlight of me catching the
ball but if the center didn't get the quarterback
the ball that play wouldn't matter if the o-line
didn't hold up that wouldn't matter
if the running back didn't protect it wouldn't matter so it's
just a lot of stuff that going to someone having
a highlight that everybody don't see so i'm just
glad that i have this selfless team like just
that's not selfish god damn put the body on the
line for one another and we do it as a whole group
so i think that's a big part of who we are thank
you next we'll go to matt all right uh so look
everyone raves about your work ethic um i wanted
to give fans like a little sense
of it can can you walk us through maybe you know a typical day
what time you get to the building what time you
leave how much extra work you put in basically
what goes into helping make you
so good on game days um just my preparation um of course you
i'm sure everyone's seen like the stuff
that was out there about my routine and stuff like that
but just going in going out there on green tree going one
and over to prepare me for the for the
game on saturdays or whenever the game
is just building them routine plays just allow me to go
out there with confidence and be technical sound
all right next we'll go to adam hey mally thanks
for taking the time today um so something
that's really stood out to me this season is darian's
ability to to deliver the ball under pressure
i know you talked already about like you know
uh the trust you have in him the trust you guys have built up
so just what what do you think goes
into the chemistry between you you know between him
and the receivers uh you know him able to get
being able to make the right decisions quickly
knowing you guys will get open knowing you guys
will make the play when he can you know kind
of make the right call and fire it when he's got a
defender in his face or something he's just under
pressure it's like he don't move like he don't
budge under pressure that's what i love about him like um just like
when the defender in his face
he throw the ball and get hit get right back up smile clap everybody up
that's just the best thing
about him like you know he's going with the ball before
the play even starts like it's just crazy
and he mentioned uh after the game
on saturday you know he got asked about the ball he threw
to you where there were like three defenders kind of coming on you
and uh you know converging
on you uh you did you know you weren't able
to bring it in but it was still like perfectly placed
ball and he said that you know he asked you if you were all right
and you said no i'm fine i'm good
um do you talk to him about like placing
those balls like obviously you know you throw the ball
to you he got it to you but you know he's putting you
in a tough bit of a tough spot do you guys
talk about that at all nah that's all him
that was a great ball i should have caught it um that's
all i got from that it was a great ball
a great placement got it thank you all right next next
we'll go to jordan and then daryl you'll wrap
this up hey mally we've got two for you first
off just how would you evaluate unc's defense
and what kind of challenges might they present
on saturday um they're
a great defense play together play team football um their technical
sound they play everybody swarming
to the ball it's just it's going to be a great game out there
on saturday great chance for us to go one to nothing
but there's a great they're a great team great
defense play within they do it they coaches tell them just
a great defense and then we've talked
so much about everything you have accomplished
so far but you told us at the beginning of the year
like you know that there's still more
to your game where can Malachi Tony still get better
from what he has already done over the past year
and a half um everything blocking chasing the ball
finishing blocks finishing routes finishing plays
not getting tackled by one person uh
catching vertical just every every bit of my game can get
so much better all right daryl you'll wrap
What's up?
Mally, hi.
What's going on?
What's up?
So, Mally, I was the one that asked Mensah about those balls
and when you take hits and what does he ask you,
and he said he asks you, did it hurt, right?
Yeah.
I got two questions.
What is your approach on things like that?
Do you look at it as him giving you a shot?
Do you go to him and be like, hey, man, you put me in harm's way?
What is your thought process?
I think the world needs to hear that.
My thought process, really,
it's not really too much that I'm thinking.
He gave me an opportunity.
He could have threw it to three other receivers on the field,
and he threw it to me.
I should have came down with it.
So that's just my mentality.
Well, two other receivers.
Well, yeah, three other.
Two receivers and one tight end, one running back.
He could have threw it to four other people, matter of fact.
But he threw it to me, so I should have came down with it.
Okay, good.
Great, great.
So the world gets to hear that.
The last thing is, number six has some things to say to you guys
about they had a plan for you.
I actually met his dad before the game.
Did you have any words with him?
I know you're not a person of a lot of words,
Did you have any words with him on the field?
No, I'm not.
I don't really talk much.
Besides, I think the game was a good game.
Much love and respect.
Have a healthy rest of the season.
