Old Vs New Cauliflower

Hello and welcome to my channel. Today I am going to redo a video that is around 11 years old and this mold is actually from that video. It is made of a cauliflower and I just took a cauliflower and pulled off one of those tops you get from cauliflowers and I made a mold of that one and now I'm just putting in some opaque white into that mold and making sure i like the bottom part of it and i'm doing a few ones of these so this video is kind of an old versus a new video i sadly don't have any one of the old cauliflowers that i did then but i have some pictures so i will put them in here as well so you can compare and say if you like this one better or not Now I am going to make a cane and I am doing a leaf cane because I want that to look a little more interesting around my cauliflower. Last time I just used a green leaf. This time I am building up my cane. For this cane I am going to make a thick teardrop in some dark green colored clay and I'm making it thick because then it's easier to make it into a cane later. I rolled a white polymer clay and a light green polymer clay through my pasta machine in I think it was actually the smallest setting I have and now I am first doing the veins in the leaves. So I am cutting in this half I am actually cutting it smaller and I'm cutting it in an angle placing a piece of that white clay in there. I'm not making it going all the way through that leaf And I'm doing that three or four times and I'm doing it in both sides and in opposite directions. Before I place the two halves together I first place this green clay on one side of the halves making sure that everything is connected or covered. When I have done that I am going to cover that with a layer of the white clay. And the bottom part of the leaf here I am going to place a little more of the white at the bottom and making it like smaller and smaller or thicker and going up to thin. So this place where I am placing this extra white clay is at the bottom, the thicker place of this half leaf. I am ending off with another layer of the light green and now I am connecting the two halves of the leaves together and here I have my cane. Then I am squeezing this cane really well together keeping the shape but squeezing it making sure I get all air pockets out of this little piece for my cane. Now it is time to caning this cane, and yes that's a word now, we are caning the cane. And we are not rolling this one, because then you will destroy everything inside of this one. You want to keep that leaf shape all the time. So I am carefully squeezing and pulling and pulling and squeezing, and this is taking It's taking like a really really long time but But please don't give up and roll or anything else. Just take your time with this one and squeeze it and pull carefully until you have the thin or the thickness you like of this cane. I did not like that this cane was open at the top. You can see the white at the top of the leaf. I did not like that. So I rolled a tiny piece of that green colored clay and I put that on top of that over that top and I am making sure that it is still in that shape of my leaf and then I'm just going to continue by pulling and squeezing and pulling not rolling. So here you see the done cane. It's not that big and that is on purpose because if I make it too big I will get like a thousand leaves and I don't want that. So here are my baked cauliflower and I am going to use a tiny bit of my Bake and Bond here to make sure that the leaves are going to fit or sit glued together with the cauliflower when it's all hardened and done. If you don't have Bake and Bond, you can use Fimo liquid, but I like Bake and Bond better because it's more glue-like and sticky where Fimo liquid is making it slide more around, so it's not so easy to control. Now I am cutting thin slices of this cane off and I am using my leaf mold. I will leave a link in the info box for this mold so you know how I make this one. This one. And I am placing this leaf so that that vein in the middle is fitting with my mold. Squeezing the mold together and carefully lifting up the leaves. Then I am using some bacon bond on the back side of my cauliflower and I am going to place the leaves in this bacon bond. I am cutting around five leaves out and I am squeezing all five leaves in my mold to give it that impression of a leaf and then I'm sticking around five leaves around my cauliflower and that's all there is for the cauliflower. I'm making sure that the leaves are kind of bending from the bottom and in around the The cauliflower. I made a few pieces of this the same all the way through, cutting five leaves, placing them in my mold, squeezing them together carefully, getting them out of my mold and placing them into the Bake and Bond on the back side of my cauliflower. And then I am placing the the leaves around the cauliflowers. I'm using a tiny bit of a pale brown Vallejo paint and I Dilute that with a lot of water so it gets really watery but still brown and I'm going to use that to paint onto my cauliflower. I didn't have enough water here so I just mixed into a little more water and I'm just painting that on and kind of taking it off again so I only have this watery It's a very brownish color. It looks a little more dirty. A little more real. I like this effect but really be careful how much you use. You can see here the difference. It's actually really really cool. I waited for that to dry completely then I mixed this dusty greenish color that was more like an accident than anything else but I made this Dull green and I am light dry brushing the leaves with this one and that is kind of toning the white a little down and making it look even more realistic. I really like that. I also made a few loose leaves that I'm doing the same on that I'm doing right here. So that is all for this video. I am going to leave you with a few pictures of the old one that is 11 years old and the one I made today. And then you can tell me in the comments below which one you like the best. Did I do better this time? Let me know. Thank you for watching and happy crafting!
