I understand a lot of us were hoping to have
the brooms out today, hoping we would get
that sweep and just be celebrating a World Series championship.
It's not out of the question.
We can still win this whole thing and we can do it as early as tonight.
But does having this kind of loss, does it shake the Brewers at all?
Does it affect their mindset?
Well, we had some questions.
So we are once again bringing
in Dr. Shyla Morgan joining us here on Fox 6 Now.
thank you so much for taking a couple minutes
to chat with us very happy to be here okay so last
time you joined us we were chatting all about kind
of this mindset this championship mindset
and i think it's really easy to to have that when things
are going your way what happens now you
know when you have a loss does it ruffle
your feathers we don't want it to so how do we keep
our minds strong, even in a moment of defeat.
I know for the Brewers, along with all of us fans,
there was a devastation with that loss.
The Brewers fought so hard only to lose it at the
bottom of the 12th inning.
But it's so important to remember that any epic journey, people are
always tested at the end.
If you look at any epic movies or books, and certainly with athletes in
the Brewers, they are always, it's an uphill battle at the end.
And it's almost like life
is testing them. Do they really want this?
And it's time for them to dig deep. They're going
to be tired after last night playing 12 innings.
But remembering that at this point, it's really
just mental. Although the body may be tired,
their spirit can be willing and their mind can be
strong. So I think it's getting back to basics,
focusing on what's possible, having hope, really
tapping into the electric fan support throughout Wisconsin
and uh again just staying in the moment
because again they just need to win one out
of three whether it's tonight or back home in their
home field um there's just i think you know they
they have what it takes to go all the way oh
absolutely and you know again the odds
are in our favor here we just don't want to lose sight of that
we can easily still win this World Series still make history here
in Wisconsin and you mentioned
you know, it's at this point, it's just mental.
So what are some things that yes, top tier to
athletes like the Brewers players, but even,
you know, you and I, and just everyday people can be
doing to make sure that we are always keeping our mindsets strong,
positive, looking forward
to the future and some of our goals.
Well, first I think us as fans and the Brewers can celebrate
all the successes and using some visualization,
you know, up till last night, they had win after
win after win this historic epic season
and so remembering all that went into their peak
performance really bringing that in whether they're up
at bat uh throwing or catching making
a play to remember what they've done before
and then really reenacting that in the moment
i think too that bounce back quickly those who
are resilient quickly overcome any setback like
the loss last night and again sometimes it doesn't go
our way sometimes we have a fumble or foil or
a failure but but we want to focus on what's possible
and that word next like what can they
do next number three tapping into that support I love
the announcers last night did a shout out to
Wisconsin and what an incredible state what makes us just incredible
as a state are the people and
the way people are coming together and the fans.
And even if it's from a far back, you know, down
in Florida, the Brewers can really tap into that electric excitement,
knowing they're not alone.
And this crowd is cheering for them every step of the way.
Yeah. You know, speaking of that,
you know, strong support they have here in Wisconsin,
I even was really impressed with
the attitude of Brewers fans.
You know, we're always out at watch parties. We're always talking
of people and usually you know maybe you're you're really upset
or you're kind of angry after a loss
especially the roller coaster that was the 12th inning
but everyone just seemed to think you know
hey we got this we'll get that win it's okay you know we wanted
this sweep but now we look ahead
to game five i think that also is just a great mindset
to have even as you know a fan here but
I also think now that the Brewers are going
to need to come back from a loss in order to grab
this World Series victory. It's a really cool moment.
I think, you know, for younger athletes
to see, I imagine this can be a teaching lesson even
of how you can bounce back and, you know,
that defeat doesn't define you. Do you agree?
Absolutely. That we're much more than the scoreboard
or how we do on a particular day,
because sometimes it's just not our day in the case of
the Brewers. And I think it's important.
We talked last time about, you know, stress can deregulate
us but actually if we kind
of get overly excited i think last night it felt like we were just on
the cusp of making history they're just about
to clinch that world title where it's world series
title and sometimes that actually can destabilize us
so i think it's so important for the Brewers
and just us when we're in those kind
of high pressure situations to just stay in the moment
keep it simple don't get too far ahead kind of saying gosh
when i said when we win we're going
to celebrate in this way just instead focus
on what's next what do I need to do what's the play
I need to execute and focus on the details instead
of that kind of hey you know what's what's going
to happen 10 paces down the road yeah absolutely I love always getting
to chat with you about that
kind of championship mindset
because I think sometimes we get it wrong and we think that
only yeah these star athletes can have
that championship mindset but you and I can have
it too. And we can apply it to our everyday life.
And I think we're all just really excited at this
point to cross our fingers
and get ready to celebrate a World Series victory. Are you still
believing in the Brewers here? Absolutely.
You know, my, my, I, I wholeheartedly believe they
are going to clinch this. They have everything that they need.
They've shown how they can show
up under pressure. And so I think tonight's going to be our night.
If not, we'll, we'll get them in
the next game but we just need one
and they can do it they can do it and i also just tell myself
you know once they win the World Series the baseball season's over
so i don't mind getting
to see a couple extra games to keep seeing this team
on the field together so again all about that
perspective Dr. McGee we really appreciate you
taking some more time to join us once again on
Fox 6 Now thanks for having me go brewers go brewers
that's right we are going to continue
celebrating all afternoon long here on Fox 6 Now.
