This video demonstrates two effective methods for reviving exhausted and root-rotted peace lilies. By removing damaged parts, disinfecting roots, and using specialized nutrient solutions—such as banana peel tea or a beer and Vitamin B1 mix—wilted plants can be restored to health, resulting in lush green foliage and new blooms.
After just two months,
this wilted peace lily has completely recovered and is getting ready to
bloom. But before that, the plant was almost completely exhausted.
Its leaves were wilted
and yellowing all around the base.
And when I removed the growing medium, I discovered that
the root system had been severely damaged. Many
of the roots had rotted because the old growing
medium had remained wet for a long time.
So what did I do to save these roots
and help the plant
recover
in just two months watch until
the end of the video the leaves
at the base had turned yellow
if not treated promptly
the plant would become weaker
and weaker first i
gently removed the
plant from the pot and at this point i
noticed that the growing medium was old
and decomposed
it was still holding
a lot of moisture inside
and showed signs of mold
the roots were dense
and tangled so i needed
to carefully inspect
the entire root system
i removed all of the old
decomposed growing medium
from the plant
then i removed the yellowed
and wilted leaves at the base
the damaged leaves could not recover
so i removed them to help the plant focus its energy on the
healthy parts
the old growing medium
was too wet and
decomposed so i washed
the entire root system
to make it easier to inspect
the damaged roots.
After cleaning them,
I began inspecting every
part of the root system.
Many of the roots had rotted
and were damaged.
I used clean scissors
to completely remove
the rotten parts.
I tried to remove all the soft
and damaged parts of the roots
to reduce the risk
of rot spreading
to the healthy parts.
After finishing
the trimming,
I washed the root
system once again.
I prepared
a solution
to disinfect
the root system.
I used 1 liter of clean water, then added a few
drops of methylene blue, and stirred well.
I soaked the roots of the peace lily
in this solution for about 15 minutes.
While treating the root system,
I prepared a nutrient mixture from banana peels.
I peeled
the banana.
Then, I cut the banana peel into small pieces
and put them into a clean jar.
Banana peels contain potassium and some natural minerals,
which can support healthy plant growth.
Next, I added 1 liter of warm water and stirred well.
I let the mixture sit
until it cooled down.
Once the mixture had cooled,
I filtered out all the banana peel residue, keeping only the liquid.
Then, I added about 1 half liter of clean water.
Next, I added 3 vitamin B1 tablets
and stirred well until they dissolved completely.
I used
this mixture
to soak the roots
of the peace lily.
During this time,
I used a soft cotton pad soaked
in the solution to gently clean
the surface of each leaf.
This helps remove dust and residue from the surface of the leaves.
Once the leaves are clean, their surfaces are more open, helping
the plant absorb light better and photosynthesize more efficiently.
After treating the root system, I prepared
a new growing medium using pine bark to keep the roots well aerated.
I also added
a small amount
of nutrient-rich
garden soil.
Then, I mixed the two growing mediums together evenly.
The important thing is that the growing medium must be well aerated
to prevent water from accumulating around the roots.
I first added a layer of growing
medium to the bottom of the pot.
Then, I dried the roots to prevent them
from retaining too much moisture.
Then, I placed the peace lily in the center of the pot
and spread the growing medium around it.
I did not pack the growing medium too tightly,
so the roots could still have enough air circulation.
After planting, I let the plant rest for a few days,
so it could gradually adapt.
After a few days, I started caring for the plant again.
I lightly sprayed water on the leaves and growing medium
to help the plant gradually adapt to its new environment.
During the care process,
I continued using a diluted mixture of banana and vitamin B1.
This nutrient mixture helps support
the plant's recovery, promote new root growth,
and help it adapt quickly after repotting.
I watered a moderate amount onto the surface of the growing medium.
I maintained watering about once a week,
but always adjusted the amount of water depending
on the condition of the growing medium and the plant.
The important thing is not to let
the growing medium remain too wet.
After caring for the plant, I placed it in a spot
with indirect light and continued monitoring it.
And this is the result after two months of care.
The peace lily has completely recovered.
Its leaves have become glossy green, firm, healthy, and full of life.
There are no more yellowing leaves at the base.
The wilted leaves from before have also disappeared.
But what makes me happiest is this.
A new flower stalk is growing very well.
The green flower stalk is strong and healthy,
growing upward and getting ready to bloom.
Through this process, I noticed that the peace lily adapted very well
to the new growing medium and the care routine I applied.
I hope this recovery process will give you more experience
in caring for your own peace lily.
This is the peace lily that my friend asked me to restore and care for.
Will the plant be able to grow healthy again after this process?
I will use beer combined with three vitamin B1 tablets
and apply the semi-hydroponic method to
stimulate the plant to grow new roots.
After 30 days, let's see what amazing surprise happened.
First, I removed all the yellow leaves,
dry leaves, and damaged parts of the leaves.
I cut off the parts
that were no longer healthy
to reduce the plant's burden.
Next, I removed all
the rotten, soft, and damaged root tips, keeping only
the healthy parts of the roots. Then I washed
plant under clean running water to remove dirt
and impurities stuck on the leaves. At the same time,
this helps clean the root system, remove old soil,
and easily check the condition of each root.
After washing
the entire plant,
I soak the roots
in clean water for
about 15 minutes.
This step
helps the dry roots absorb the necessary moisture again
and helps the plant stabilize before adding
nutrients.
While waiting for the plant to absorb water,
I started preparing the root nourishing
solution. The first ingredient is beer.
I took about 10 millimeters of beer and put it into a
clean cup. Beer provides some natural nutrients,
helping support the recovery process
and stimulate
better plant
growth.
Next, I added one
liter of water.
The next
ingredient
is vitamin B1.
I used three vitamin B1 tablets
and added them together with the beer.
Then I stirred well until
all the ingredients were completely dissolved
and evenly mixed. The mixture is ready. I soaked the
roots of the peace lily in this mixture.
While the roots were soaking
in the mixture, I used the
remaining solution to care for the leaves. I soaked
the mixture evenly and gently wiped each leaf from
the top surface to the underside.
This process helps remove dirt
and impurities stuck on the
surface of the leaves. At the same time,
it provides additional nutrients helping the leaves stay clean
and healthy and supporting
the plant's recovery.
I continued soaking
the plant in the mixture for
about 15 minutes. After 15 minutes,
I proceeded to plant the orchid
using the semi-hydroponic
method. I used clay pebbles
as the growing medium. First,
I placed the plant in the center of the
pot. Then, I spread the clay pebbles around it
to secure the plant.
At the same time, it creates
spaces that keep the roots well aerated
and allow them to grow easily.
When the plant was firmly
secured, I added clean water to the pot.
I only let the water lightly touch the root tips, keeping
the roots sufficiently moist without causing water logging.
After finishing, I placed the
plant in a well-ventilated area with indirect light
to help it recover better. After one month
of care and recovery, the peace lily showed
a significant improvement compared to the beginning.
The leaves gradually became greener,
the leaf surfaces became shinier, and the plant looked
healthier and full of vitality.
When I gently lifted the plant out
of the growing medium to
check the root system,
I was truly surprised
by the plant's development.
Many new white
roots had started to grow
with numerous bright white young root tips appearing densely around
the root system. This is a sign
that the plant has adapted well
to the recovery method and is
continuing to grow strongly.
I hope this method will help you save wilted peace lilies and
stimulate the plant
to grow many healthy roots. Thank you
for watching, see you in the next videos.
