AI GeneratedThe Los Angeles Dodgers are reportedly planning to pursue outfielder Kyle Tucker in free agency this winter. With Tucker entering the final year of his contract and showing no signs of a long-term agreement with the Chicago Cubs, the Dodgers see a prime opportunity to acquire a high-caliber left-handed batter to solidify their outfield.
This is a generational heist.
The Dodgers are on the verge of making one
of the biggest acquisitions in baseball history.
And it could be happening this offseason.
We get into all that in this edition of Dodgers Digest.

let's get right into it the Dodgers could be on the verge of making
a huge acquisition this offseason I'm talking about Kyle Tucker
the Dodgers plan to pursue outfielder Kyle Tucker in free agency this
winter per Bob Nightingale this was reported
this morning he posted this today on X kind of hard to
believe the Dodgers plan to jump into the free agent fray
for Cubs outfielder Kyle Tucker this
winter this may not be the highest bidder
but they'll surely keep everyone honest just as they
did when they were with of course
with the Juan Soto sweepstakes and we know we have a lot of
rumors all off season long the Dodgers you know talked
to him were they interested and that's how
it's going to be now from here on out with Kyle Tucker
as we get into the now the Kyle Tucker
sweepstakes which are seem like they're starting already
and this is after this would be this would
be crazy the Dodgers can get Kyle Tucker
and you know it would be crazy if any team outside of
the Cubs really gets Kyle Tucker
because the Cubs i mean gave up a lot to get Kyle Tucker i mean
They made a big trade in the offseason with the Houston Astros
to acquire the outfielder.
And the Cubs were obviously all in on Tucker to try to get him
and keep him long-term.
But I don't know if Tucker wants to stay in Chicago.
I mean, honestly, what is going on with Kyle Tucker and the Cubs?
I mean, when you make that kind of a trade,
wouldn't you think that they would have some sort of agreement
prior to making that deal?
I mean, prior to making that deal,
but wouldn't there be some agreement between the Cubs and Tucker
that he was going to sign a contract?
Because that hasn't happened.
I mean, Kyle Tucker has, he's been doing great all season.
The Cubs, as we know, you know,
one of the top teams in the National League,
you know, they've given the Dodgers trouble.
You know, they've been pretty good.
And Tucker's been good himself, playing well in a free agency year
because this is it.
I mean, Kyle Tucker is on the final year of his contract.
He is a free agent at the end of the season.
and there's no contract, there's no agreement.
We don't even know if they're talking, right?
I mean, that is kind of what's going on.
I mean, Tucker right now is doing very well,
hitting .276, 10 homers, 32 RBIs, an OPS of .932.
I mean, these are pretty solid numbers for the left-handed batter.
And the Dodgers, as we know, have a guy in the outfielder
that really has not been reliable, and that's Michael Conforto,
who only signed a one-year deal.
They just got him for one year.
He's been playing left field primarily for the Dodgers, as we know,
with Delcassidis in right field and Andy Fox in center field.
You have Conforto in left, and he hasn't done very well.
And honestly, I think the Dodgers, the way it's going,
unless he has a crazy second half,
I don't think he'll be back next season.
I mean, and I don't think they're trading him either,
because who's going to want to get that?
Who's going to want to pay that kind of contract?
I mean, the Dodgers are stuck with Conforto,
I think, for the rest of the season.
Unless, of course, they release him because of free agent,
and then he goes and signs with the Giants,
which I don't think the Dodgers want.
So I think they're going to have him the rest of the year.
You know, the question is, how much does he contribute?
How much is he really going to be able to, you know,
what kind of years is he actually going to end up having?
Because so far, it hasn't been very good.
It has not been very good for Michael Conforto.
So the Dodgers obviously are going to want
to get an outfielder this offseason
because Chris Taylor doesn't seem like he's going to be part of things
very real not going to be part
of things moving forward right it seems like he is you know
starting to get phased out not getting a lot
of playing time Dodgers as we know it's still
trying to shop him they don't want to make him
the everyday left fielder because they could have
already done it by now right they could have already done it
by now with the way Conforto's
been playing, the Dodgers could have easily
already said, you know what, we're going to give
Chris Taylor a spot every day now
and they're not doing that, so there's obviously discontent
with the way he's playing with the way he has played
and they're, they're going to move on from
him, they're going to move on from Conforto too, they're
not going to keep him around so the
Dodgers, it would make sense for them to go after Kyle Tucker
the Dodgers of course could compete
in free agency, I mean they can compete
with the Cubs, how much are the Cubs really going to offer
him, Kyle Tucker is expected to get 500 million dollars
this offseason, those are the kind of
offers that Kyle Tucker is going to be getting
if he decides to test the free agent market and
according to the latest report this was also written
this morning there has been of course
extension talks I guess
to a certain extent between, between Tucker and the Cubs, but the
latest update from Nightingale suggests
that the outfielder will test free agency, so that is
honestly bad news if you're a Cubs fan, you've got
to be concerned if you're a Cubs fan because if
one of your top players is testing free agency
When have the Cubs ever been a free agent player
in the history of baseball?
When?
I mean, the Cubs recently won the World Series eight years ago.
They didn't do it through free agency.
They didn't do it through free agency.
And basically, when all those guys wanted more money, what did they do?
They let everybody go.
So the Cubs ownership does not like to spend money
They don't want to.
Are they going to really throw 500 million
at Kyle Tucker this offseason?
I mean, that's what it's going to take, probably.
I mean, the Dodgers, come on.
Are they really going to offer anything less than 400
to 450 million for Tucker?
They're not.
I mean, the Dodgers are going to probably offer
a competitive offer between $400 to $450,
their first offer.
We'll see, of course, what the market value
is and what other teams are offering.
But I'm sure the Dodgers are going to offer a pretty good deal,
$400, $450 million for
Kyle Tucker for him to become
the everyday left fielder for the Dodgers, right?
Tucker currently playing right field right now
but he has the potential to play left field he's
played all over the outfield
this guy knows you know he could play different positions the Dodgers
have to also got right now on right and he's going
to be the right fielder moving forward
I don't think Tucker would be a center fielder
so I do think the Dodgers would slot him in at
left field right a position that he knows how to play
so I mean the Dodgers really I think have an
opportunity like i said to make an incredible play
for tucker this offseason it's exciting
because the dodgers as we know think about it juan soto
the Dodgers didn't get him but they
were in there they were definitely
in the conversation we saw a lot of reports all off
season that you know it could happen we did
a bunch of videos on soto until you guys got sick
of it but i mean we did a bunch of stuff on soto this offseason
and tucker is like it's going to
be the same kind of deal i mean i think
this offseason is going to be the same kind of deal
we're going to be probably talking about
this you know throughout the season as a trade deadline
comes along i don't think it comes to trade tucker i
at least i don't think so i mean especially the
way their season is going i don't think they would throw it away
but they could potentially lose
tucker for nothing after trading for him which is crazy
because the astros the astros decided they
weren't signing tucker right they made that decision they traded him
and they got a lot for
him in return they did a good job
when it comes to moving tucker away unlike the angels with Ohtani
the astros did their due diligence they traded him got some assets sure
the astros aren't very
good now but in the future they might be back
so the cubs they gotta they gotta you know gotta have
a lot of issues now the Cubs the Dodgers have
a huge opportunity to steal Tucker away as always
make sure to subscribe and let's go Dodgers
