A severe weather system has triggered 35 tornadoes across Illinois, Indiana, and Texas within a 48-hour window. The storms caused extensive structural damage, destroyed solar farms, and left thousands without power. While the death toll is currently reported as low, several people remain missing, and the dangerous weather front continues to move east.
James Kaufman, World News Report today.
Ladies and gentlemen, according to the University of Michigan
and their Climate and Space Science and Engineering Department,
who tracks tornadoes on the ground,
we've had 35 tornadoes on the ground in the last 48 hours.
Really, less than 48 hours.
Yesterday, we had a total of 24 tornadoes on the ground.
A lot of damage.
Now, that all happened in Illinois, Indiana, and Texas.
Again, 24 tornadoes on the ground, and we had Indiana
and Texas light up on the 9th here, starting right here.
So, only those three states, Illinois,
Indiana, and Texas, have been hit.
This front is moving east, and it's a very dangerous front.
we're going to look at some of these storm damage
from yesterday's well touchdowns this is from
yesterday and this is going to be in Indiana Wheatfield area
and this is well when you see
this you turn around bad news now i've got
a much larger one i'm going to show you but this is one
of the 24 that did touch ground first light
reveals complete destruction to homes just outside
of Lake Village Indiana lake village got hit very hard
at least one violent tornado and probably
several struck last night homes swept from their foundations
and cars tossed into lakes
heartbreaking look
at this damage
unbelievable just
slabs left there is a
death toll it was very
very low based on what we're seeing here
although there's a lot of folks still missing so i believe
it was two last time it was mentioned
but again a lot of folks are still missing which can't be good
and this just keeps going and going and going
and this is just going to be a lake village area
which i did it here
was hit very very hard every single tree
is missing every single leaf
and broken off now they're saying
this was an f1 tornado never seen an f1 tornado do this
type of damage personally wow
is all i can say unbelievable drones
are always handy after this
type of thing let's continue we have several other cities
or towns that have been hit right
Now we have some damage from a tornado or several tornadoes.
all touched down near the same area,
24 in this area, a few less, a couple in Texas.
This is near Kankakee, Illinois, and I'm sure I butchered that,
but look at the houses
on the other side of the river bank
and what's left of them.
Unbelievable stuff.
All right, so everyone's getting out of the solar business
because insurance companies will
not insure solar fields anymore obviously we've seen a lot of these
fields get hit by tornadoes and hail even worse
and this is a entire solar farm that was destroyed
near wheat field indiana let's
take a look here multiple homes
damaged as well a friend that was
in this business has been let go
and there's not an insurance company that will take one of these
on anymore so they're not building anymore again
this is near wheatfield we saw a little damage
from Wheatfield earlier look at
that mess it's even worse when it's
hail there's holes in everyone
unbelievable all right this is a tornado that made
its way through Three Rivers, Michigan i wanted to
show y'all what this looks like it
was ugly to say the very least now
this was from two days ago
but you can see any of that flying debris hits
you could go right through you you see that car
just bounced crazy crazy crazy crazy every
which way
but loose here we have more damage out of
Kankakee, Illinois i hope i'm not doing too bad
with that tough tough word to spill let's take
a look definitely took it hard
and Kankakee took the miss
the big plant over on the right
not very densely populated sparsely
at best because we're missing some of it
and a lot of
this stuff got out just fine it looks
like well this looks pretty bad here
but the rest of this
got out pretty good folks pretty good
would not be that upset i guess can i say
that a couple
blocks definitely didn't make it well.
We saw some other footage out
of Kankakee that was much more
destructive. Look at those homes.
First light in Bloomington, Indiana.
What a mess. Go ahead and
listen to that. Barbara here, excuse me.
That's the sound I hear when I was a kid of it passing
through that just that roar eaves
on the house you could hear creaking and just giving way to
it flew fast it didn't last real long i can't say we
were in the bathroom more than 10 or 15
minutes i said we got hit and then it calmed down
and i said i think i think we're good to
come out of the bathroom i opened the front door
and saw this on our car all our neighbors were
coming out and checking on everybody and uh we went
and checked out some neighbors uh uh that
we keep in touch with down there. Everybody was just coming by.
A county truck came through here,
which was really good to know that they were.
But yeah, everybody was just out helping each other.
We had trees down blocking, completely blocking
the road down there. Our neighbor across the street,
their shed is completely gone.
Part of it's down there and there on the hill
and trees are down everywhere.
Somewhere up there on the side,
it's just poking straight out of our house.
uh pretty good decent sized branch and we uh we
got luckier compared to some of our neighbors so
so she's got a good attitude she said she got lucky wow now we have
a split screen here they're
calling this an EF3 and look at winds of 160 miles
an hour tornado on the top the aftermath on the
bottom as you can see it tearing all
those homes up look at the debris
you can see the riverbank
over here unbelievable uh southern
ninth branch county michigan
here there's definitely a lot of
damage and here's uh last photo
of lake village indiana started
there we'll finish there it was a
Rough 48 hours, to say the very least.
We'll take a look at the power outages in those areas
and see how many people are out of power.
All in all, we're doing pretty good around the U.S.
Ohio looks like it's got some outages.
When we look at Illinois here and Indiana, well,
there's probably about 15,000 folks without power.
So, all in all, that wasn't as bad as it could have been.
Again, only two people have passed away
as of now, as of this report, and we don't have
a lot of folks here, even without power.
Please make sure you share my video, if you can,
on Facebook, because I can't get on until
my new phone is 11 days old.
That is their rule, it's not mine.
And give us a thumbs up, if you will.
Remember, anything's possible.
Bizarro world. Y'all be safe.
