Inside a Penthouse Where Architecture, Interior and River Become One (Penthouse Tour)

Inside a penthouse where architecture, interior and river become one, ARC Penthouse by bureau^proberts offers a remarkable expression of riverfront living in Brisbane. Positioned atop ARC Residences in Toowong, the residence embraces the Brisbane River through expansive views, carefully considered interiors and a private rooftop pool. Developed by Spyre Group and built by GRAYA, the home celebrates the relationship between the city, its history and the river that defines it.
With an ambition to create one of Australia's finest penthouses, the design team approached the project as a private home in the sky rather than a conventional apartment. A generous 65-metre site frontage allowed for 50 metres of building frontage across two levels, creating approximately 100 metres of private river frontage. This scale establishes a defining quality inside a penthouse where architecture, interior and river become one, allowing the surrounding landscape to become an integral part of everyday living.
Located beside one of Brisbane's busiest roads, the site presented challenges in managing exposure while preserving uninterrupted river views. The resulting architecture prioritises orientation, natural light and spatial clarity, positioning the living, kitchen and entertaining areas towards the northern and eastern corners.
The interior design continues this considered approach, creating a cohesive relationship between the building's exterior identity and its internal spaces. Fluted cabinetry, sculptural stone elements and a statement kitchen island establish a distinct material language, while an executive office introduces further opportunities for craftsmanship. Within ARC Penthouse, each element has been designed specifically for the residence, reinforcing the experience of being inside a penthouse where architecture, interior and river become one.
The western corner accommodates the primary suite, where the bedroom occupies the river-facing frontage, with dressing rooms, bathrooms and wellness spaces positioned behind. Careful consideration of seasonal sunlight ensures warmth during winter and protection from excessive summer heat. Throughout this penthouse tour, the scale of the residence becomes apparent, yet the planning remains grounded in comfort, functionality and connection to place.
Above, the private rooftop pool creates an extraordinary setting overlooking the Brisbane River. Accessible by a dedicated staircase or lift, the rooftop also incorporates a spa and fire pit, offering multiple opportunities to experience the surrounding cityscape.
Ultimately, inside a penthouse where architecture, interior and river become one, the distinction between home and landscape becomes increasingly subtle. This house tour reveals how thoughtful interior design and an understanding of natural light can transform generous proportions into meaningful spaces. More than a conventional home tour, ARC Penthouse demonstrates how residential design can respond to the character of Toowong and Brisbane while offering a distinctive interpretation of elevated riverfront living. Inside a penthouse where architecture, interior and river become one, the enduring presence of the river remains the defining experience.
