Welcome back. Well, we did see a pretty cool day today here
in the valley. Temperatures making it
to 77 degrees, well below normal for this time of year.
And we did see a couple showers going
through earlier this morning,
but then we dried out and the sun came out here in the valley.
Meanwhile, it's been a rainy day up in the high country
and temperatures reflecting that. We only
made it to 55 today in Flagstaff and 66 in Sedona,
59 degrees in Show Low. Mainly those upper 70s and
low 80s across the deserts of southern and western Arizona.
Temperatures right now at 76 in the
valley, 40 in Flagstaff.
So it's chilly and it's very, very wet up there.
So, you know, cuddle up
under a blanket for the rest of this evening.
The rain is going to continue for a while longer,
but it is on its way out by tomorrow.
Here's a live look across the state and you can see the
wet weather there in Sedona as well as Flagstaff.
Meanwhile though look how beautiful it is here in
the valley a nice sunset shaping up.
Now all of this is associated with a low pressure system
and we do have a couple of flood warnings to tell you about.
A flash flood warning has been issued
this is for the Douglas and Cedar Bench Wilderness.
This is going to be east of Mayer on the other
side of I-17. This goes until 6 45 p.m. So of course stay out
of this area because flash flooding
is either already occurring or it is imminent.
All this rain is pushing northward and we have
more to come for the Sedona area.
It's coming down pretty heavily in spots and we have all of that
pushing northward up to Flagstaff where there's even some snow there
at the San Francisco peaks.
Another flood warning to tell you about
this is for the Little Colorado River
between Lupton and Winslow. This goes until 12 a.m. tonight,
so stay away from those banks and if you
do live near that area, be prepared to seek higher ground
and of course never drive through flooded
roadways or low water crossings.
As we go through the rest of tonight, these showers will continue
to spin through northern Arizona, still going at 7 p.m.,
eventually starting to dissipate as we go
toward the 9 o'clock hour and by 11 p.m. we should
be looking pretty dry with a couple of these still
lingering around up near Page, but that's about it.
It'll be a dry night across the state, and
we'll end up seeing mainly dry conditions tomorrow.
A couple of isolated showers and thunderstorms
will be possible up in the Four Corners area,
so up toward Window Rock, kind of toward that
same area of Lupton, maybe Indian Wells, Kayenta,
seeing those storms tomorrow afternoon. But then
we are going to be dry for pretty much the rest of the week.
You can see how the dry air comes
in behind the back of this low pressure system
and it sticks around all week long until this
coming weekend when we will see a new surge of some moisture
and this will bring our next rain
chances to the state mainly Friday and Saturday so for Halloween.
As for those temperatures tonight
will drop to 58 in Phoenix,
44 in Sedona and freezing in Flagstaff a low of 30 degrees and
tomorrow temperatures climbing back into the low 80s in the valley,
50s and 60s across northern
Arizona. Here's how those temperatures pan out as the day goes on.
Looking cool in the mornings but
by the afternoon going to be nice in the valley.
A beautiful day to get out and about. If you're
going to be in the Flagstaff area,
yeah it will be sunny but it will be a little bit chilly with
temperatures in those low 50s
and we'll see the same in Show Low but 60s for the Payson area.
10-day forecast showing quiet conditions through midweek
and a little warmer before rain returns
on Friday.
