Hi, my name is Tommy Champion.
I'm an artist, I'm a producer, songwriter, musician, and educator.
Music has changed every facet of my life.
It's one of these things that can make you feel more intensely
than any other human experience out there.
You are a commercially successful professional musician.
Not easy to do. How'd you achieve that?
Through never giving up.
I think that every day music continues to be fun for me,
and so long as that's the case, I will never give up.
Every single day, it's got to be fun.
That's why you do it in the first place.
It should never become something that isn't fun to you.
I feel that when I make music, I'm my best self
and that I'm having the most fun.
And the feeling that that brings for me is massive.
It's my favorite feeling to be able to tap into the creative impulse,
the drive to write something,
and to take it from just a random idea in your head one day
to a fully completed song that you get to listen back to.
That to me is the most exciting thing I can possibly do in life.
You are almost seven feet tall.
Has that always worked to your advantage?
It has, especially with guitar,
just because I've been able to play chords
in positions that most people really can't reach,
and that's given a voice to my music.
Creatives can work across many different mediums, whether it's acting,
it's singing, it's songwriting, it's dance.
Whatever that is, the sky's the limit.
And giving voice to stories that are often unsaid
is just a really cool path to have been given in life.
