Our reporter Elitza Gadeva is covering that for us in Paris.
Elitza, hello to you.
Now, you're at Porte d'Italie right now.
Talk us through what's happening there at the moment.
That's right.
Well, Porte d'Italie is buzzing.
There are so many people here and they will start marching now
because the route starts
at 2 p.m. from Porte d'Italie to Porte de Vincennes.
And there are many people, students, parents, union representatives
and people from the whole Paris, even from all across France,
who told me that they came here today specifically
to participate in this protest
that they said is very important.
They said that they are trying to defend their basic democratic rights
and the right to protest
because the protest was moved from Bastille to here only today,
which caused some confusion to many of the protesters.
Let's say you are covering the protests for us at Bastille earlier.
Is there a reason why you moved location?
Well, yesterday the police tried to ban
this route from Bastille to Nation,
but union representatives contested this decision.
So it was in the hands of the Paris tribunal,
and today it was decided that this protest there will be banned.
So many people were actually gathering there,
and they had to move here to participate in that new protest
and I spoke to one girl who was fined
because she simply didn't know that the protest was moved
so she went there and they told her
well no it's illegal to protest here so she was fined 90 euros.
All right Elitza thank you very
much indeed for now that's Elitza for us at Porte d'Italie in Paris.
