Let's start things
off with two
undefeated teams,
Commerce
and Prince Avenue
Christian.
First quarter, Prince Avenue quarterback
Gavin Holland takes it himself.
He's going to stiff arm a defender,
going to end up going 37 yards into the end zone for the score.
They're on top, 7-0.
Fast forward now to the second quarter.
Commerce running back, we saw him recently in a game of the week.
They're so good. DeMarco Huff, direct snap, 5-yard touchdown.
Prince's lead is cut to 10-6.
Later in the second quarter,
PAC's Collin Durning plows in for six more.
Prince Avenue Christian hands Commerce their first loss.
They stay undefeated.
Final score in this one, 24-9.
Great to see so many football stars supporting the Atlanta Dream.
You had Cam Newton, Z'Darrius Smith,
A.J. Terrell all in the house on Wednesday night.
We look forward to the Atlanta Dream continuing
their championship chase tomorrow.
But first, we've got some business to attend to this High Five Friday.
Got a great show for you tonight.
Milton facing Gainesville in a mega matchup.
Victor flying the chopper up over Cobb County.
And an all-Gwinnett showdown
in a deadlocked region in our Game of the Week.
You know what time it is.
Let's head to Holy Innocents.
They were fired up.
Their team 8-0 on the season.
This is a good game, hosting 6-1 Kip Atlanta.
Golden Bears facing a third forever.
They run it.
Sam Chasteen gets the handoff,
picks up the first down, and that would be big.
Led to a field goal.
Holy Innocents up 3-0.
Here comes Kipp, Lawrence Moreland going to loft it to the end zone.
Great touch, Malachi Hurd hangs on, extra point, no good, 6-3 Kipp.
Bears trying to tie it up,
but Liddell Moreland with the field goal block,
keeping the lead just where it was.
Warriors driving, looking for some more points.
Fourth down, this is Preston Massey for Holy Innocents,
getting to the QB, forcing the turnover on downs.
Look at the final score, this went right down to the wire.
Holy Innocents wins it 13-12.
All right, it was senior night at Hampton.
They were hosting Sandy Creek.
Sandy Creek been so good, but the Hornets, no slouches either.
They're putting together a great season.
They stop and drive right here.
Kamari Dorsey with the interception and turns defense into offense,
setting Hampton up with great field position.
They're going to keep it close here.
Dorsey going to keep it himself scoring from 48 yards out.
Look at this, turning on the jets,
pulling away from an incredibly good Sandy Creek defense.
However, the Patriots would get back in control.
Paul Norwood crashing in from a couple yards out.
They would cruise from there.
Sandy Creek 8-0 on the season.
They win 34-7.
All right, let's get now to the High Five Sports bunker.
We're going downstairs to a guy who we always look forward to hearing
from Friday nights in the bunker.
Victor Prieto is not there.
Wait a second, I'm getting word in my ear.
Victor is, wait, he's where?
Well, a beautiful Friday night here in Atlanta,
so why not take to the sky in the high-five chopper
to get some high-five high school football action from the skies.
First game, we got a great game.
Let's head over to North Cobb Christian.
Well, we got there right at kick,
and it seems North Cobb Christian returned that kick.
A very fast start for the Eagles, and they go up 7-0,
but Temple looking to respond just as quickly.
Brody Dempsey finding Josh Murrell for the big gain
and into Eagle territory.
But a couple plays later,
Brody tries taking advantage of the single coverage on the outside.
And Banks Gutierrez says he can't do that to me.
What a play from the freshman.
That's right.
That's a freshman right there making a difference in a heck of a play.
The pink out student section.
Loving it.
Then we get the toss to Jake Gordon.
I was doing my best Falcons, Bijan Robinson,
roof cam impression here on the North Cobb first down.
Shout out Austin Hiddle, by the way.
The drive stalls, though,
so Daniel Rivera's attempt at the 30-yard field goal.
Oh, no, that's a doink.
The Eagles would respond, though, on defense,
and ultimately they pull this one out, winning 28-10.
Well, not too much scoring in that one, but the night is still young.
We still have another game to go to from up here in the air,
so, Justin, we'll see you in a little bit.
All right, Victor, be safe up there.
He was talking about Eagles, and so am I.
It's the Columbia Eagles homecoming.
That is awesome.
Taking on Carver out of Atlanta.
Columbia on the move early.
Czar Daniels launches it.
Rashad Silver over the shoulder.
Grab.
That's what Columbia does this time of year, right?
They have a tough out-of-region schedule,
and then they just start winning big.
Carver trying to respond, but look at this.
Two defenders collide there.
Jamari and Davis scoops up the fumble,
returns it for a score.
Columbia putting together a dominant win, 43-0.
All right, a good one tonight in our Call of the Week.
Monroe area working on a perfect season.
Last two weeks, the Purple Hurricanes have outscored
their opponents 105-0.
Across the field tonight,
Cherokee Bluff put up a 48-point shutout of their own last Friday.
680 fans Carl Wuerl and Brandon Joseph on the call.
Austin Haygood behind the lens in our Call of the Week.
A massive Class 4A regional clash is brewing tonight.
The fourth-ranked, undefeated Purple Hurricanes are blowing into town
on a path of pure destruction.
But waiting on the bluff is a dangerous sleuth of bears.
With the playoffs looming,
it's the number four Monroe area Purple Hurricanes
and the Cherokee Bluff Bears on the 6A of the fans.
Friday night football game of the week.
Fans, Friday night football game of the week.
Well they're taking the snap.
Payne hands it to Riker Kohler.
Kohler gets out on the edge.
He crosses the 40, crosses midfield, and then run out of bounds.
Connor Cook just to the left.
Fake to give to Kohler.
A little throw.
Looking in end zone.
Has a man.
That's Haley.
Did he get a foot in?
He did.
Touchdown back corner.
Dylan Haley.
Ninth touchdown reception of the season.
Big one there.
Fourth down and long.
Eight yards to go.
Two-step drop.
Looking downfield.
Throwing.
Just launches it a little bit wobbly.
Has a man.
And it is caught in the back of the end zone.
Bryce Ball.
for his 12th receiving touchdown of the season.
I do want to tell you there was a scary moment in this game.
Cherokee Bluffs' Dylan Haley was hurt.
There was a lengthy delay as they attended to him.
Good news, our friends at 680 told us
that Dylan gave the crowd a thumbs up
on his way off the field.
That's unbelievable to hear.
Monroe area, they got the win 35-31, moving to 8-0 on the season.
All right, we're looking forward to more
of Victory's aerial adventures later tonight.
We've got much more coming in High Five Sports,
including Milton and Gainesville,
going toe-to-toe in a major Class 6A matchup.
Highlights from City Park after the break.
We've got Kelly Price at our Game of the Week.
Well, six miles separate these two schools,
and they do not like each other,
Peachtree Ridge and North Gwinnett.
But at halftime, 18 points separate them on the field.
Peachtree Ridge mount a comeback
in the second half of our Game of the Week.
Stay tuned and find out.
My name is Antoine, big boy Patton, one half of the Mighty Outcasts.
I've been watching y'all for years
with the hand thing, and now we're on the show.
High five, sports, and your face, you feel me?
East Point, College Park, Decatur, and the squad.
Yeah, yeah.
All right, we'll keep it going.
Booker T. Washington High School taking
on Eagles Landing Christian Chargers.
Well, they took charge early.
This is Carson Kerrigan going
to keep it himself, get into the end zone.
Ten yards out, that made it 6-0.
Elko looking for more.
Kerrigan going to do it again.
It worked once.
Why not?
Goes around the left side this time.
I might have missed a face mask in there as well.
14-0, Eagles Landing Christian on top.
Chargers would continue in this one.
Kerrigan, we saw him do it with the legs.
He could do it through the air as well.
This is Cameron Matthews kind of breaking through.
Some traffic going on to score.
ELCA wins this one 50-6.
All right, probably one of the best high school quarterback matchups
in the country tonight was in Gainesville.
Red Elephants QB Derek Baker, he's committed to Tennessee.
Other side of this one, Milton High School, led by Clemson,
commit Kareem Hughley. Very possibly a region title game for this
one in Class 6A Region 7. It was a pink out night as well.
We've seen that all over the place
in so many highlights across our area
tonight. Gainesville up 8-0. This is quarterback Kareem Hughley
under pressure. He keeps it. Would pick up
the first down. Then on the same drive, Hughley connects with
legend Wilmont. A great grab touchdown. Wilmont psyched
about this one. Gainesville up 15-0.
By the way, Hughley left this
game with an ankle injury, and
they would take advantage on the other side. Derek
Baker showing off his legs with the big
gain, and then it was Baker.
He could do it on the ground. He could do it
through the air. Going to hook up right here with
Jordan Carrasquillo.
Touchdown gets Milton on the board. That's a
great grab. Gainesville, though, saying not
so fast. We're not letting you run away with this
one, injury or not. It's Jeremiah
Proctor here going to get the interception.
Turn around, return it the other way for six.
However, in the end, this was a close game, crazy high scoring.
Milton gets the win, 49-46.
All right, so Gwinnett County, another one.
This is a game that they were watching from our Game of the Week.
Same region, Norcross and Parkview in your face.
And it was a big night from Parkview.
I like these black jerseys, by the way.
Greg Hart here to Carson Brown in for the touchdown.
Parkview, the security staff, love to see it in your face.
here. Christian Emma going to reel in another touchdown.
Parkview building the lead in this one
over their rivals from just down the road,
and they would keep it going with Zanion Mullins
outruns the Blue Devil defense for another score.
Parkview goes on to get the big win, 55-21.
All right, let's head back to the friendly skies
in the High Five Chopper. That's where we find
Victor Prieto, VP, up over another big game in Cobb County.
So we've made our way to Sequoia
at Lassiter and this one already a lot
of points scored we're not even done with the first quarter
and it's 14 to 7 let's see what happens now
with the high five chopper here so a matchup of two
six and one teams the offense is scoring early Lassiter here
though getting a jailbreak Wyatt
Hensman gets to the quarterback ends the first quarter
and the students and players are hype
and loving it they wouldn't be hyped for much longer
though Sequoia with the help of some
penalties, extends the drive,
and then Duke Sanders scores for the Chiefs. The Trojans are trying to
answer, but that ball is out. Nicholas Hooten coughs it up.
A lot of white jerseys there to recover
that Sequoia ball, and they take advantage right away
because Duke Sanders, wide open. That's
another touchdown for him.
Sequoia takes a 28-7 lead, and they'd eventually take it 49-13.
Well, Sequoia making a statement there over Lassiter.
They must have heard the high-five chopper in the air
because they made some plays when we got there.
Justin, ready the helipad for me over at Fox 5.
We're on the way back.
Hopefully I can make it by the end of the show.
All right, then I've got to move Jonathan Stacey's helicopter.
It's sitting out there.
We'll get parking figured out.
All right, keep it going.
Loganville and Clark Central, third quarter, 14-13 Clark Central.
Let's add a little more.
Kenneth Ryan III to Jordan Edwards makes it 21-13.
Fourth quarter now, this is Loganville quarterback Gavin Cole.
Oh, no, the ball goes over his head.
Recovered by Clark Central's Ashton Flanagan for the score.
Made it 27-14 later in the first.
Fourth, Clark Central not done,
but Gracion Little taking the direct snap going in.
They're putting together a real good season.
Don't look now.
They've got Jackson County coming up soon, 40-13 the final.
We're not done yet on High Five Sports.
More highlights still to come.
You want high stakes?
How about Carrollton and Westlake colliding in South Fulton?
And it was a great one in Gwinnett County
in our High Five Sports Game of the Week.
Peachtree Ridge and North Gwinnett, that game is next.
And speaking of Gwinnett County,
how about a legend from a different school on the hardwood?
Who knows where to be on Friday night?
The High Five Sports Game of the Week
is brought to you by Montlake Injury Attorneys.
Class 7A Region 7 is the very best kind of mess.
Five teams entered tonight with one loss.
You saw Parkview beat Norcross earlier in the show.
That helped sort things out a little,
which brings us to our game of the week.
Peachtree Ridge and North Gwinnett both 6-1 on the season.
Something of a region elimination game with all the chaos
and congestion in the standings.
Kelly Price and Super Blaine come in.
We're at the game.
Leslie, hit it.
They're really our biggest rival, you know, in every sport.
We really like to take this game serious.
Any reason for the visor tonight there?
Really just so I can look good on the field.
It helps keep the lights out of my eyes a little bit better.
A lot of us like to take naps, listen to our music,
visualize us being successful.
Scheduled us for homecoming, so we got to show them.
We got to ruin some homecomings today. We got to.
Hey man, it's a disrespect!
They think they can come over here, come to our side of the world,
and step on the field with us, man!
Nothing like hate week after a bye week.
And how about the disrespect of scheduling
your region rival for homecoming?
But a slow start for both sides coming out of their bye weeks.
So this one scoreless until 8:43 on the clock in the second quarter.
Banks-Halcombe takes this one to the bank.
37 yards later, it is 7-0 North Gwinnett.
Next possession for the Lions,
Derek Washington Jr. gets his pause on the pass.
C.J. Cardona lays out for the pick,
and North Gwinnett turns that turnover into points.
Stephen Brown making it look easy
as he looks around like, where is everyone?
So with that and a two-point conversion, the Bulldogs go up 15-0.
Less than 10 seconds before halftime,
Peachtree Ridge with its best drive yet.
But they get nothing out of it
as Zane Belfield gets sacked by Marshall Brown.
At the break, the scoreboard read 18-0.
But the Lions roared with a rally in the third.
Belfield gets it to Davian Harvey-Lovell,
who extends to break the plane.
The gap now only 32-18.
The North Gwinnett shuts the door in the fourth.
Halcombe hits Evan Hawkins,
who gets past all those Lions into the end zone.
gives himself a little shoe shine
and why not hit two safeties as this score lifts the Bulldogs
to a dominant 39-18 region win.
So coach a big win obviously coming out of the bye coming off
that first loss of the season what did you like about
your team's response in this game? The
resilience from from practice the weight room
the way they worked all week to want to come back and
have that that winning feeling again.
Getting it against your rival the Battle of Suwannee you keep
calling it how much sweeter was that?
Oh so much sweeter against that blue team down the street so
much sweeter and uh speaking of sweet here's
this guy Juice Box that that i hear he was he was
actually homecoming king as well what gave you what gave you
the juice in this game uh you know
honestly the the guys behind me really bring
the juice uh you know in the weight room uh we had a
bye week last week and uh we had a the the weight room was open
and the field was open and i saw a
lot of guys getting working and uh that let me know
that i gotta work for my guys so we really
we really handle business out here you know playing
that blue school you know we got to bring the
energy. All right. Well, here's something else to give you some
energy. The high five. The gold hand, the gold crown. I love it.
Great game of the week. All right. Big game between West
Lake and Joey King's Carrollton Trojans. Thought this would be
close, right? Oh, I don't know. Nick Archer here for
Carrollton. The score. Then the quarterback, C.J. Cypher. So
good. Rontray Welch. Cypher had so much up his sleeve tonight
to Kiaris Miller. Carrollton was up 39 at the half and they
didn't slow down much after the break. Cypher to Welch
Again, Carrollton, winners over Westlake.
Look at this score, 66-27.
All right, we are not done yet on High Five Sports.
Victor Prieto has been all over the internet tonight
to find out what got people buzzing.
He'll tell you next.
And the Golden Hand Trophy went to a very deserving team of the week
who celebrated with a wild pep rally like few we've seen before.
High Five Sports, don't let anything stand in your way.
This
is for
me.
The High Five Sports Team of the Week
is brought to you by Motley Injury Attorneys.
Football team, how you doing?
Well, congratulations to our High Five Sports Team of the Week.
We're all doing good now.
It's the Stevenson Jaguars.
Great Thursday morning pep rally.
The gym's under construction,
so Paul Milligan hung out with the team in the auditorium,
and it was awesome.
Marcus Jelks, the head coach of this team,
took another step towards what they hope is a long playoff run,
picking up a convincing 55-0 win over Westminster.
The Stephenson Jaguars now 8-1.
All right, more highlights for you from our friends at Blitz.
It was a nice night at Stephens County as they hosted Hebron Christian.
Stephens County up three in the second quarter.
Brandon Stowe going to swing it to Duke Collins.
A little walk-in touchdown made it 9-0.
Same quarter this time it would be Dallas Hague
going to go through the left side of the line.
Touchdown made it 16-0.
Stephens County wins it 29-10.
All right, those are all the highlights,
but not all the action this fine Friday.
Victor Prieto's had his eyes on the internet
once he got back from the helicopter.
Victor, what caught your attention?
Justin, the feeder on the ground.
Surprisingly pretty good cell service up in the sky.
So we got to the internet here.
Congratulations to Coach Pete Wiggins.
His 200th career victory.
Look at this, 11th region titles,
a state championship, and he's still going strong.
How about this?
The Texas Hattrick from Max Brown from Jefferson.
Four touchdowns today.
Jefferson beats Winder Borough 41-7.
Last year high school, I was above him in the air.
Didn't get the win today, but hey, how about Jax and Elsa?
Shout out to them, homecoming king and queen,
homecoming all over the place.
All right, Mays.
This game was kind of nuts.
Mays, Southwest DeKalb.
We've got Mariah the Scientist on the sideline.
It is the Georgia High School Hall of Fame game.
This game went to double overtime.
Mays wins it with a walk-off touchdown, 34-31.
Speaking of bonker games, Milton Gainesville.
We talked about it, 49-46.
Milton scored 21 unanswered.
They won on a game-winning field goal.
Really, really cool game today, Justin.
It was nice seeing things from above.
Also nice being back here, though, in the studio.
Well, it's nice to have you back safe and sound on the ground.
Great stuff all night long from our Victor Prieto.
All right, that's it, and that's all from us here on High Five Sports.
If you missed any of our show,
we'll get it posted for you soon on fox5atlanta.com,
also on Fox Local on your smart TV or mobile device.
We'll leave you tonight with a legend of the Southside.
His Houston Texans are on a two-game win streak,
and this guy leads the entire NFL with seven and a half sacks.
Will Anderson's one of the best pass rushers in the pro game,
and he is always in your face.
