North Gwinnett resets defensive pad level

It's High Five Sports Game of the Week, and it takes us to Gwinnett County. It's a showdown between the Peachtree Ridge and North Gwinnett High Schools. Fox 5 Sports' Kelly Price joins us live with the big matchup tonight. Kelly? Yeah, a huge matchup tonight. Lots of region implications. Obviously, both of these teams actually coming off a loss. 6-0 to start the season, but then you guys have your bye week last week. So tell me a little bit about the bye, how you guys spent that, and the response you guys had on the bye. Right, yeah. I mean, that's out of, you know, rough bye week coming off a loss, But, you know, sometimes it's good to chew on that and learn, hey, we just can't be satisfied and we've got to work harder. And so we really responded to come back and had a great week of practice. And tell me about kind of what you look for in coming off a loss in a bye week. What do you kind of look for from your team to see how is this response kind of hitting them? Right, for sure. You always try to learn after a win, but you learn so much more after a loss always. You know, all the way back to our basic, we never talk about simple technique. You know, our technique wasn't great. Our pad level wasn't great. You know, we pride ourselves on defense of running to the ball, and we weren't running to the ball like we should. So, you know, all those little details, just getting back to the basics of what makes North Gwinnett great. Before that loss, you guys were averaging about 40 points per game on offense. How do you guys kind of get that back going today? Right, yeah. And, you know, not turn the ball over, take care of the football, first of all, first and foremost. But, you know, our quarterbacks do a great job taking care of the ball. And, you know, running backs, it starts up front, the offensive line, and those guys, the way they work. So we're looking forward to a great matchup here tonight. As Blaine goes and gets some of the juice that we see here. I mean, this is a rivalry game for you guys as well. Big region matchup. Talk about the juice that we're kind of seeing right here. Oh, no, it's great. You know, rivalry game, the blue school down the street. You know, my basketball coach has really taught me how much of a rivalry this is. And so it's gotten me excited to, you know, you need somebody to hate every now and then. And this week is hate week. Hate week. I love it. And it's a blackout, I heard, for the student section. They said it's black for a funeral. So we'll see what that looks like.
