Pulte has been asking deputies and other directors for suggestions about who to cut. Some of the ODNI deputies pushed for more cuts, but Pulte said that 51 was enough for two days. One source characterized the cuts as thoughtful and methodical. No staffers have been removed from the counterterrorism group. No additional firings are planned for now, according to two sources. Pulte officially began his job as acting DNI only last Friday. Earlier this month, President Donald Trump announced his nomination of U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York, Jay Clayton, to serve as Director of National Intelligence. However, Trump postponed Clayton's confirmation until the Senators confirmed his replacement for U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York, another rogue agency they're trying to clean up.
