We're in the middle of Fort McMurray's
first big snowfall of the season.
This snow is expected to last until Saturday evening,
with up to 15 centimeters falling in Fort McMurray
and up to 40 centimeters north of the community.
Really a fairly heavy sort of dose
of early winter for many communities,
and it's going to be fairly significant and fairly impactful.
He added that the heavier the snowfall,
the more likely it is that there will be power outages.
The RCMP is also warning locals to be cautious of the roads,
particularly highways.
In Fort McMurray, Highway 63 is the artery in and out.
Ensure that you have a full tank of gas before you get on that highway.
Make sure that you're having an emergency winter kit in your vehicle.
This can include blankets, extra clothing,
maybe some snacks, some water,
a fully charged cell phone, and maybe a cell phone charger as well.
And the question that remains is, will the snow be sticking around?
We're really flirting with these near-freezing
temperatures for much of the upcoming week.
So it's not going to be much warmer
than we're going to be experiencing.
We're expecting to see some of that snow melting in Fort McMurray,
but it looks like it might be a snowy Halloween this year.
