AI GeneratedHurricane Vance is rapidly intensifying in the Eastern Pacific and is expected to become a Category 3 major hurricane. While it is forecast to make landfall in central Mexico by mid-next week, leftover moisture may reach Houston around Halloween, potentially increasing rain chances and affecting holiday plans. Meanwhile, tropical activity in the Atlantic Basin has quieted down.
Alright, let's flip gears and switch to the tropics
and we do have one hurricane out there that we are tracking.
This is going to be Hurricane Vance. It's not in the Gulf.
It's not in the Atlantic Basin. It's actually in the eastern Pacific,
but it is forecast to rapidly intensify.
In fact, by tonight or early tomorrow,
it's likely going to become a category three hurricane.
That is a major hurricane with winds around 120 miles
per hour forecast to become that strong around 1 a.m. Saturday.
and notice it's going to be kind of a slow movement to the north
and eventually may make
a turn to the northeast but by the middle
of next week it's going to come dangerously close to making
landfall across central parts of Mexico
so we'll have to watch it closely right now it looks like
it'll weaken back to a cat one before then
but this is the 20th eastern pacific named storm and
now the 12th hurricane of course
because of that super el nino it's been crazy busy across the
Eastern Pacific with just tons of tropical storms,
hurricanes really lining up one after the other.
So we're not going to get any type
of direct impacts from Hurricane Vance,
but some of that moisture will eventually kind
of get thrown in our direction.
So I think Vance makes landfall across central Mexico
by the middle of next week.
And then whatever is left of that,
that leftover moisture is going to kind of slide our way.
So it really starts to impact us, I think,
by next Friday, about a week from now and into Saturday.
And of course, you know what next Saturday is. It's Halloween.
And I know a lot of you are keeping a close eye
on what's going to happen here in Houston for Halloween.
And we could have some influences from some tropical moisture kind
of enhancing our rain chances, unfortunately.
But it could be worse. We're not talking about
a big threat for severe weather.
Just maybe some clouds and some showers around
that could mess with your trick or treat and Halloween plans.
otherwise it's pretty quiet let's flip over
to the Atlantic Basin that's the Gulf the Caribbean
the Atlantic Ocean the few systems that we
were watching out there have fallen apart they have
moved on they're gone so we did have subtropical
and then post-tropical cyclone Josephine that one
is gone there was another area we were watching southeast
of Bermuda not there anymore so the next
name on the list would be Kyle
and it may be a while before we have a Kyle forming and that is
okay with me typically this time of october we start
to see the tropical activity in the Atlantic
basin kind of winding down for the Gulf still not impossible
but hey the chance is lower but we've
got to get all the way through the end
of November before we can give you the all clear so as you've
been doing just keep checking back with us we'll let you know
if there's anything to worry about
but right now coco we're looking great
our weather locally close to perfect nothing bothering us from
the tropics maybe a little moisture for Halloween enhancing
our rain chances from whatever is left
of Vance but we both know it could be a lot worse
so i am happy about this forecast
