I want to get into Sean Strickland's complaints
a little bit as Sean Strickland's threatening
to quit the UFC and or mail in the rest of his fights,
etc., which probably wasn't a
good idea to go on record and say that, oh,
I'll just go in there and do dumb moves just
to get it over with.
But we've seen this script so many times before,
and I almost, you know, I ignored this video
at first, and I ignored his complaints
and all this because I've seen this a million
times.
i've been covering the UFC
for basically you know nearly 25 years uh now and most of the time
it's always the bigger fighters
and start complaining about money but they never actually
do anything about it right like they'll complain about it
and they'll threaten things yet then
they'll sort of get taken care of and then it's
not a problem anymore i remember like GSP was big
on that GSP was like oh we need a union we need you know
this like i'm big enough now that i you
know I'm gonna try to like change the way that this industry is built
and whatever dude like
an hour in a room with the Fertittas
and Dana White at the time and he came out with what he
wanted and everything was fine again right
and the thing with Strickland is like dude you're the one
that just signed a six-fight contract that's
the only thing that the UFC I've always thought the
UFC sort of unfairly gets criticized for their pay
because the fighters are the ones that are
accepting it so you guys i fought
for the title four times i won it twice beat all the boogeymen
in the division hell i fought half
the division already man i want to box i want to go put a
boxing title on my mantle i deserve it
hell i don't even i don't even do MMA i just box i will
put hands on any boxer Jake Paul wants to give me
a big old bag of money to fight him i'm under
contract fine i'll go to Zuffa i'll go i'll go beat
your cruiserweight champ easy but let me tell you
something about the UFC
and i'm going to say the quiet part out loud that nobody says you'll go
you'll go you watch these champions right
these like savages of the sport man they run the division
and they take an L and then they come back
and they just like man they just fight like three or
four times they get flatlined you're like dude what happened to you
and you realize that UFC
happened to them they just don't care anymore
the ufc they don't pay you enough money to walk away
like man life is good i've dedicated my life
to this i put the time in this the ufc builds a
legacy they keep you right here but they build the legacy
and they don't pay you enough so you
have to come back and ruin your legacy i just want
to do that man it's like this goy slop
repackaged mcdonald's straight to the head you know just
not into anymore i want to fight i want
to box i want to go win a boxing title
so we're trying to work that out but if the ufc says hey
we're not going to do that we're going
to make you fight well i'm going to stick and move you
guys going to boo hell i'll boo with you
while i'm doing it just stick and move collect my check
and then move on but uh i mean hell here we
are see i don't think anything he said was wrong
right but at the same point of time you're the one
to sign the contract right you brought this
upon yourself and the comical thing is too
and like i said i've seen this happen a million times
before so like Sean Strickland is upset
with the UFC i'm not getting paid enough and it ruins
people's lives and all this type of stuff
and then what does he do he goes to the next UFC event
and gives them all kinds of free publicity on top of it
so like if you were really done with the UFC
you probably wouldn't have went to Edmonton Alberta
a couple of days after you were complaining about
the UFC right um so you have to sort of take it
um like you have to sort of like say well you know
what you're the one who just signed a contract um you're the one
who just signed a contract and you
should have thought about that before you signed a six fight deal
but they basically make you sign
those deals if you're going to fight for for a title
because they don't want people winning the
title and then just throwing the title in the garbage
and walking away uh after the fact
