Fox News anchor Shannon Bream
with Fox News Sunday joining us right now. Good morning to you.
Great to see you. Good morning. Happy Friday.
Good to see you. Happy Friday weekend inside.
So we've got President Trump pivoting.
He was supposed to be going to Waco next week,
but instead head to Corpus Christi.
I'm not sure it really matters where he is, which city,
because he clearly is focused just on Texas as a whole
with this big push trying to get Ken Paxton
in this Texas Senate seat.
I mean, it's clear that Texas is huge on his mind, definitely on
his mind. What, like fourth time for him
to visit here ahead of these midterms? What do you make of
that? He loves you guys. He loves the hospitality
and the food and all the great things that people
down there in Texas. Yeah, it critically shows us
that the White House is concerned about that seat.
If Democrats can flip seats like Texas,
like Kansas, I mean, they really could take control
of the Senate. And that is gonna be a nightmare
for the president in a lot of ways. If it
actually happens, getting judges confirmed,
including a Supreme Court justice if you needed
to do that, gets infinitely harder
if Democrats are controlling the Senate.
Our latest poll has got this at a dead heat now, 49-49.
So the president knows turnout
is key. It's tougher for both parties
to do this during the midterm elections where there's
not a presidential race at the top of the ticket.
Right. But the president knows as he continues
to go to these red states he's got to get his base to show up yeah
and we have more registered voters
this turn right now well they show up and vote
who knows but more registered voters than we've
ever had in this state before for an election
so that's that's pretty impressive uh let's talk
about this new development about about Ukraine
and Russia that war um it really is putting the
u.s in the middle of it
because this whole Starlink Starship Starshield whatever
they're saying apparently it wasn't working for Ukraine
and i mean they use that for battlefield
coordination drone operations emergency
communication it's like your internet being
down but you know obviously
on a huge much larger scale it wasn't working it's still not clear why
but president trump calls elon musk
and now it's been restored i think that's raising some questions
it is and you've heard all kinds of denials
and also explanations that Starlink is different from
from Starshield, they would be different
contracts, different people would be calling
the shots.
But Wall Street Journal has been reporting
that Elon Musk made some type of decision
that made less capability available for Ukraine at some point.
And listen, Russia thought they would be done
with Ukraine in a weekend, and here we are
years into this.
And because of new technologies like drones,
Ukraine has really been able to fight back
against this much bigger bully in the region
in a way that almost nobody expected they'd
be able to do but it requires them to be able
to use things like this cutting edge technology.
The president says it is fully functional and up and running.
Secretary Rubio says it's fully functional and running.
But we have the broader problem of this thing feeling very intractable.
So Putin, Zelensky,
White House officials and envoys say that they are trying to get
talks together in a trilateral fashion to actually get this thing done.
But we still don't see the off ramps to actually ending this.
No, definitely not.
You guys have a lot to talk about this weekend,
several guests stepping up.
We do.
So we've got House Speaker Mike Johnson with us exclusively.
He says that despite all the polls
and prognostications out there that Republicans have a path to
holding on to the House.
So we'll try to drill down on that with him.
We've also got Democrat Mitch Landrieu,
former governor and mayor in New Orleans.
He's a Democrat who probably seems very centrist by today's standards.
And he's sniffing around about a 2028 run.
What does he think about this big tent?
really progressive radical ideas within the party,
things like getting rid of borders
and jails.
And does he think that faction
of the party belongs in the Democrats tent?
We'll see.
All right.
Lots to cover.
Looking forward to it.
