Seattle area stylists are shaping up for a big competition
this weekend, and it's all for a great cause.
Hair War Seattle takes the stage to raise money
and awareness to help victims of human trafficking and exploitation.
Fox 13's Dan Griffin shows us how these local creatives are using
their talent to make a difference and how you can get involved.
As the city of Seattle works to stop human trafficking
and exploitation here along Aurora Avenue,
non-profits are trying to help victims find independence.
call it sheer genius first year first
time i've ever done anything like this
Kat Soriano at Salon Eight in Bellevue
is on the cutting edge of Hair Wars a live runway show
combining hair art and charity Hair Wars
is actually designed to help an organization
called Justice and Soul Foundation
and what they do is they help survivors of exploitation
and trafficking through cosmetology education
they're raising fifty thousand dollars to teach
survivors salon skills here
in the Pacific Northwest expanding the Justice and Soul
Foundations program first launched in Cambodia more than
a decade ago we're all really one family
so hairdressers unite all around the world
but if we can directly impact somebody here in our home
that would be fantastic Sunday 18 stylists will trim down
the competition we will do our best to
inspire them to rise themselves
and don't forget that there's other side from blow dry
to color.
They'll be turning hair into high fashion sculptures.
You're gonna look at structures that should not exist with hair.
In fact, the goal is for you to look at it
and be like, how is that hair?
These women know in these chairs, lives can change.
Now you can find Hair Wars at the Space at the Finery on October 25th.
It is a ticketed event.
We'll have more information on Fox13Seattle.com and the Fox Local app.
For now, reporting along Aurora Avenue, Dan Griffin, Fox 13 News.
