Con Edison employee from Rockland County fatally shot while driving on George Washington Bridge

Well, an NYPD spokesperson has confirmed for us that a 46 year old man was shot and killed on the westbound upper deck of the GWB last night around 7 o'clock. The victim's name has not been released pending family notification, but it was quite a scene out here last night to say the least and certainly understandable considering what police were dealing with. They got the call and when they arrived, they obviously had to investigate. to investigate what happened once they found this man with a gunshot wound to the right rear shoulder the right rear shoulder and not the head as initially reported he was taken to Englewood Medical Center but it was too late he was pronounced dead as the investigation continued into exactly what happened here the traffic began to back up dramatic backups last night at the GWB for hours and the investigation obviously took hours once that was completed the bridge cleared out and into this morning we've seen 45 minute backups but again that's pretty much a normal wednesday morning commute with the backups that we were talking about this morning certainly nothing like it was last night as the investigation continued so there's no information on the suspect at this time and no information on what led to this shooting as police continue their investigation so a lot of questions remain but again an NYPD spokesperson confirming for us that a 46 year old man was shot and killed on the GWB last night we'll wait for updated information and as we get it we'll pass it along to you news 12 news 12.com and the news 12 app that's the latest from Fort Lee Tony Caputo news 12 new jersey
