Do you trust me?
I trust you, Jeff.
Close your eyes.
Now open.
I'm flying, Jeff.
All right, let's get back to work.
Here we go.
Let's make it a good day.
I'm back, and I'm only partially contagious.
So if anyone wants to make out later, I'm available.
No.
You want to make out later?
Yeah, that's fine.
I've already gotten Jeff sick.
We didn't make out, though.
I want to be clear.
Yeah.
Well, welcome to the show.
It's good to be back.
First up today, how does this sound?
The ultimate vacation, no kids allowed
That's right, JetBlue
is teaming up with Virgin Voyages
for a new vacation package called Do Not Disturb. It features
a oh I love this, a kid-free flight
and adults-only cruise in the Caribbean, that's right
the first one's happening in March, uh but
only out of New York City, that's fine
If successful, JetBlue plans to expand the service
Hey, I know an airport where you can start.
Minneapolis-St. Paul.
That's right, yeah.
I'm kidding.
I love children.
Anyway, next.
Next.
Something new to snack on as we head into the holidays.
Lay's.
This is unbelievable.
Dropping five new flavors of potato chips.
Look at these, audience.
Three hit stores this weekend,
including roasted turkey, cheddar scalloped potatoes.
and then hold on your wigs and keys in December
sweet chips, chocolate covered, yeah no, and Dubai
chocolate with pistachios
no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no can we just
get regular potato chips, can we just, we don't need any
of this crap, I don't need, I don't need
pistachio Oreos, I don't need cucumber flavored Oreos, just give me
the normal stuff, anyway you
saw that cold open right there where Jeff
and Bjorn played Titanic if you are wondering why
Frances Fisher from Titanic is in the studio
today that's right she played Rose's mom and
one lucky audience member Frances is going
to tighten their corset remember that scene from
the movie yeah Thomas you want to do it that's right ladies
and gentlemen she did an incredible
job filling in for me yesterday
filling in for Falun today
it's Erin hello beautiful well
hello you did let me may i may i may i start
with a compliment for you absolutely you did look it is
uh it's not easy uh to come in and do i mean even
though you're here every day and you do the
audience and you're a performer and you're an actress
and you're a singer and but it's not easy
with a few hours notice to come
in and and and do this this job isn't hard but you it's not um
it's not for everybody you did an amazing job filling
in yesterday you did an amazing job
you really did thank you i watched i never left
my couch yesterday good for you and i was in the
basement and jeff texted he goes you got to see the cold open
so i i watched and then i i ended
up just watching most of the show
and then i passed out not on not a referendum on you that's
okay it was it was the pain meds i
was on but yeah i think like about a quarter of the way through
the second segment in my head i just
was like i just kept hearing like wwjd what would jason do
i know usually it's jesus
but in this case no so then i was like i know what this sounds like and
i know what this feels like and i've watched it a million times
and so once i figured that out like
this is where you start talking, this is where i make you clap
this is where this happens, so once
i kind of figured that piece of it out
and kind of sat back inside of it, it felt really good also
can i just say people were so like for as many times
as people say horrible things online people
were very kind, people were very kind, and even the people
who were mean the other people who came
in to correct them were kind, it was bizarre yeah
the mean people, i don't, my favorite was somebody
said that i was, somebody said that i was bossy
and rude, that's okay, it's fine, but but then the
person responded and was like i really like Aaron
and maybe you should look at who's bossy and rude
i'll give you a minute to figure it out, yeah i love, i was like i love
when they start eating
each other, you know what i mean, they start, yeah they i love
that also, it was really cool because
then i like i left here and then i went to go
um teach at the director high school play yeah and
my like my friend who also works with me there like talked to the kids
and said you guys should
know what your director did today, she did something really big
and really scary, she said yes to
something that some people wouldn't say yes
to and you should know that and you should watch it
you should go back and watch her do something big
and scary to remind you that we are doing the same
thing that you are doing, i will be an example for you yeah
and so all of you i hope you do that
say yes to something that, say yes to something
and then just figure it out, yeah it's okay well
thanks, it'll be the first time young people ever watch
this show so thank you very much yeah
No, and also, everybody in the staff is so kind to me,
and I know everybody so well,
so to see everybody's smiley faces, like,
shining up at me also makes you just, like,
sit down and go, great, I'm just in a room
with my friends, and this is going to be fine.
Yeah, absolutely.
So, thank you for giving me that opportunity.
Oh, there was no giving.
There was, yeah, no, no, no.
Oh, Erin, let me tell you, I hope that,
I caught a bug, and it's going around, and I
hope that if you ever catch a bug, no,
I'm good now, I'm not, I'm no good, yeah.
I can't go down.
i know you can't i know i hope it's going around
but i hope that if you ever catch a bug
your son is a pharmacist
because god bless america on that one yeah so i texted brent
yeah i texted brendan my kid's a pharmacist
and as is my daughter-in-law and uh i text him and i
hate doing this i go hey i go what
do i take i said i'm congested i'm this i don't mean to do
this because i always make fun of people that meet them
and like the second thing out of their mouth
is what lozenges should I take you know what I mean
but I did that and boy he sent me like a list
a list of what to take and what not to take
and what to ask for and I'm like oh heck yeah he
hooked that up so I uh I I'm on many drugs to be here
but I'm feeling better yeah I feel I'm
feeling pretty I'm I'm over the hump it's just
my voice is a little a little deeper than it
normally is super sexy yeah thank you I appreciate
that yeah I said I would make out with you because
It's like that episode of Friends where
Phoebe just wants to have the deep voice.
And so, and tries to follow, like, Monica around and just,
like, licks things she had in her hand.
Yeah.
We can make out later.
I just want my voice to be as low as yours.
Yeah, right.
And show up and be like, hello, everybody.
Hello, everybody.
Well, and this couldn't come.
I was screaming to the heavens because this couldn't have come
at a worse time because I have a busy week.
Some of you know I also have another job.
I do a radio show here based in the Twin Cities on My Talk 107.
one it's called the Jason Matheson Show
with Kallie Lindstrom and every year of this radio
station it's really cool i jokingly complain about it every year
um well some years aren't a joke but
anyway um yeah but it's called Project Down
and Dirty and what we do is it's like a reality show
on the radio where all of the main hosts we kind
of live together for a week and talking about
stepping out oh it's a perfect segue from what you said
to your kids over four days we step out of
our comfort zone and each year has a theme one year
in four days we put on a musical a full
musical Aaron helped us with that one many years ago
in like 2014 we've done 16 of these one year
we ran a restaurant one year we formed
a rock band one year we did an art um exhibit one year
we joined the military think of me
in the military there we go yeah i asked and i told uh yeah but
but this year it's really cool um and if you want
to help i would greatly appreciate it but
and each show works for a charity this year we're
at uh the airport it's called project
down and dirty airport
and we are working different jobs at MSP which full disclosure
i do i'm a partner of MSP i do commercials for them
but um this has nothing to do with me but i
just uh you know i love our airport
um it's routinely named the one of the top airports
in the country but we're doing these odd jobs
and listen to this audience you see that logo
at the bottom wishes and more that's
who our show is raising money for and it's so great you guys
know like make a wish that's basically what
this organization is and um we met a beautiful girl uh
this morning who i got to talk to her and her dream listen
to this audience her dream was to
Go to Disney World and fight Darth Vader.
Yes.
She also wanted two tarantulas.
Yeah.
Great.
So she got the two tarantulas.
One's not enough.
One's name was Duchess Furry Legs.
Great.
And the other was Boo Boo Something.
And she was the cutest thing.
But all of these donations go to help these kids get these wishes.
They also set up memorial foundations for people.
So if you can, go to mytalk1071.com, mytalk1071.com,
click on Project Down and Dirty, and then my show logo.
It takes a minute to sign up, and I really appreciate it.
It's going to help.
$10,000 is what it usually costs to fulfill a wish.
So whatever you can donate, Jason's show family,
I would greatly appreciate.
These kids would, and their parents would.
So thank you in advance.
I appreciate it very much.
We're going to take a break.
we'll be back right after
this back in a moment
everyone back everybody
keep clapping it's time
for the hot dish here we go everybody we'll completely ignore
that something smells like
it's burning but anyway yeah yeah we're
not worried at all that something in the studio
smells like it's burning
or it's jeff's new cologne that's right yeah yeah oh it's a well
oh there's a welding thing happening out there
that's outside poor francis fisher it's her first
time here and she's like why the hell am i
on this show it's burning this building's burning anyway
uh first up we may have a winner in the battle to find out
who will headline the next super bowl
halftime show okay okay hello 2015 anyway
new reports say uh jay-z picked jay-z
to perform
on february 14th at sofi stadium in la now keep in mind jay-z
and his record label are actually
in charge of picking the talent for the show i
was i was concerned i was confused that audition
process was easy you know jay-z meet jay-z anyway nothing
is official just yet but most of the
sources say uh it's done no word on who may pop up as a special guest
but beyonce would be a good
bet i don't know yeah i i just yeah i think
this is hilarious at what point in your life are you
like oh i need somebody to do something
who's the best person oh i am i am yeah i am the best
person for this job so i should probably go it's probably fine well
also i'm not i mean they don't
get paid so no they don't get paid it's just the publicity
but also i mean this um i don't know if
it's not a compliment
but i mean this we are actually running out of stars we're running
we are running i'm not joking we're running out
of music performers that can handle that stage
I mean, there's only a finite number of people
that can headline that big of a stage.
I mean, what are they going to do, put Juice Newton out there?
I mean, you know what I mean?
They have not, but they should.
That would be my favorite Super Bowl,
Juice Newton just singing King of Hearts over and over again.
It would be so fun, though.
What if they did like an 80s flashback one?
That would be so fun.
Like, I think, you know what?
I think it would behoove them.
I would do a cornucopia.
I think we would like that.
that way there's a little bit for everybody
do a theme i love it hot ladies of the 80s get you
know what i mean and get like juice newton get juice newton
and then paula abdul and then you
know what i mean and then uh taylor dane yes you know
and of course what the hell is banana rama
doing you know what i mean deborah gibson don't call
her debbie she'll slap you you know what i
mean she doesn't like it yeah just get all get
all get get remember when she was here and she
had a teeny tiny orange suit on very teeny tiny
those pants were so tiny yeah those censors were
worried anyway yeah speaking
of halftime shows another big act will be headlining the game on
netflix the night before thanksgiving
this is a new thing you too oh you too will do that one yeah
that game will feature yeah that game is going
to feature uh the Green Bay Packers taking on the
Rams in LA you two did the Super Bowl halftime show back
in oh two that was a good show that
was a good one well up next an emotional night
an emotional night on Dancing with the Stars as the
famous faces dedicated a dance to someone
who had a huge impact on their lives and one dance
featured the reunion of a 90s movie favorite
that is uh that's Julia that's Julia Stiles and her
partner Ezra she closed the show with a tribute
to the late actor Heath Ledger you're looking at
it right now Julia starred with Heath
in 1999's 10 Things I Hate About You she brought the rest
of the cast look at that um at the end including Joseph Gordon-Levitt
and Gabrielle Union um yeah
a really great moment there i haven't seen
that movie oh god they've all aged i love that movie
do you yes Lena Dunham's making it
a musical i can't wait ah it's freaking me out no i love that
movie it's in my top five movies of all time
are you really i juicy i've only seen it once
I love it. Yeah, I've only seen it.
And that was right in kind of in my wheelhouse. I mean,
I like all those people. Joseph Gordon, I call him Joseph Gordon.
I love it. I love him. I've
always been from Third Rock from the Sun forward.
I've been a huge fan of his pro dancer, Alan
Burstyn returned to the show to fill in.
Remember that drama to fill in for Val who was suspended
for a week. We already told you about that.
And he danced with a star Jenna Dewan. Let's take a
look. If this audience behaves themselves,
Aaron and I will do that at the end of the show. That's
right yeah Aaron's gonna spin me
though that's right i was gonna say i'm gonna keep my pants
on if i do that because i don't keep your pants
on i don't nobody needs that shot ever nope we
want the ratings no thank you their waltz got one
of the highest scores of the night 37 out of 40
take that Gleb anyway yeah finally the first star
to earn two tens from the judges here's
olympic skater Amber Glenn
she did a contemporary
dance that earned 38 out
of 40 no one was sent
home uh they were all it's too emotional they
couldn't send anyone home but yeah i don't blame
them that's a i like that theme i mean it's moisture in the eyes
but you know it's a good
theme she's really cool too if you don't know
a lot about Amber Glenn she's just is she cool i
don't know you know i don't she she
also her like whole platform is about mental health and like
sports and mental health
and she took some time off i believe um of skating because she decided
she needed to like get herself all right
with herself before she could go back out and do her
best and then she came back and she is killing it
and it's just such a great example of like
you take care of yourself
and you take care of your not just your body but your body and your
mind and your heart and like everything aligns
and it just it makes everything so great um i'm
Don't switch from this shot Leo stay right here.
I'm just look at look at the shot right here.
Are you noticing something Aaron your secret?
Whiskey soda is right here. That's right
Yeah, that was good
We know this is Aaron's secret stash.
She keeps behind the other girl. Yeah, we're a classy joint. I swear
Francis if you're watching in the dressing room,
I got a little mini bar for you. There we go. My frigidaire
jason i'm so sorry we have na beverages
in there too. Next, Friends, it was a TV favorite for people
around my age back in the late 70s
and early 80s stars. You guys will remember this stars from
network shows battle it out in crazy competitions, remember
this show returning to battle for the
second time from the series Dallas, Victoria Principal
It's going to be great today. Hi, Dallas is
here, the battle competition from the series Dallas
Pat Duffy swimming the final leg for the CBS team
Hi, we're back again
also representing CBS, Valerie Bertinelli, star of One Day at a Time
you are watching. Oh look at, oh Aaron, look at Aaron
look at the Hulk anyway, that is, that is the one
and only Howard Cosell introducing
the celebrities competing on
ABC's Battle of the Network
Stars. 19
competitions happened between
1976 and
1988.
This was like our social media.
Absolutely. Because we didn't have this.
It was like to watch things like this was
so fun because you could only
see them like in magazines
or if they were like interviewed on a talk show
or if they did like
these crazy things.
because didn't they also do like Circus of the Stars, oh
my god we gotta find this, we can't find
it today audience, I have it on VHS there, I
was gonna mention this, remember I didn't go outside
as a kid anyway, yeah I, I have an episode
are you ready? You're not ready, I'm not ready, you're gonna
get ready okay i have an episode of circus
of the stars with flippin b arthur hosting
he's the ringmaster b had no time for nonsense it was fantastic
but anyway but all you young kids
out there uh we're showing this for a reason
but you got to realize network tv was the epicenter
of pop culture it was movies music and network tv
so that was a big deal well the reason i'm
showing that to you is get ready for a new take
on that show battle of the streaming stars let's
meet our stream teams now so many nerves right now
but i feel like we're gonna win this i'm a
winner winning do i look like a loser i'm a bad housewife
who else would you want as a captain
for the first time in my life i actually saw something happen
in slow motion it was like
the most iconic moments from film and television
welcome to terry so glad she's on my team i knew
She would be great.
Sonia ain't playing, y'all.
Uh-oh, we got Hevers.
So it's housewives,
actors, reality stars.
They're going to compete on this new show.
And it premieres this Friday on the Roku channel.
I mean, look, it's fun.
I mean, I'm not going to hate on it.
I mean, I like Sonia Morgan and Dorinda.
I like Terry Crews.
I might watch.
I feel like you've already watched them do ridiculous things.
So I would just rather go find the OGs.
Yeah.
Like the original Battle of, now I'm like all in for a deep dive.
Oh, you can find them on YouTube.
For the Battle of the Network Stars.
And Jeff said some of the competitions on this show are basically
the same competitions they had on Battle of the Network Stars.
I like that nostalgia.
I wish they were just from like regular TV shows.
Me too.
That would be fun too.
I wish, one of the networks should do that.
You know what I mean?
I think it would be fun.
You know, like have all the people from all the Chicago shows.
You know what I mean?
Oh my God, Nashville 911, yeah!
Yeah.
Yeah, Nashville, Reno, or 9-1-1, Reno, 9-1-1,
Nashville, 9-1-1, Muncie, Indiana, all of them, yeah.
And then they just put bees out and say, go get it, run, run.
Run from the bees.
We're going to take a break.
More Dish when we return back in a moment, everyone.
Welcome
back.
From soap operas to blockbusters,
our guest today has had an incredible career on screen.
You probably know Frances Fisher best
from her roles as Rose's mom in Titanic.
that's me tightening my corset anyway
but she's gone on to do so many more projects including her
latest film that's called out
of the woods take diana larosa i'm a friend of your mom's your
parents things were really
different back then wasn't it i
feel like i'm losing my mind
thinking about things that i haven't thought about in years
and then i try to hold on to them
mom they just get away yeah
it's it's a it's a moving story
about memories fading as we get
older and rekindling
a long hidden love audience give it up for francis fisher
friend doing it's
been a long time it's
been a long how
you doing i'm good
welcome welcome to
the twin cities i love being
in the twin cities you know i just have to say that the resilience
of the people of the twin cities last year fighting ice i'm
so honored to be here on this
hallowed ground well thank you well we're happy
to have you here will you that clip right there
we're all emotional for a variety of reasons uh
that clip right there i could have cried i could
have cried just watching tell us a little bit more about your character
and and her journey in this
particular piece well max has been married
a long time to her husband they live a life their
daughter is about to get married and uh
and a long time friend who moved away years ago comes back
into her life and it rekindles memories of what
their relationship was like in high school and
And, you know, in the 60s and 70s,
you couldn't have girlfriends if you were a girl.
You know, it was a different time.
It's a different time.
Yeah.
Now you can do anything.
Thank God.
But back then, you know, you were limited.
You had to get married and have children.
And, you know, and so 50 years later,
they reunite and it rekindles something
that's been dormant.
And it's a decision that Max, my character, has to make.
Do I go off and have an adventure or do I stay home with my husband
who is loyal and, you know, shovels the snow every morning?
you're talking our language here we don't have it yet
but yeah yeah how about this weather oh
it's beautiful i know you're watching from around
the country it's gorgeous here right now yeah i
dressed for winter i'm shooting a movie in uh in new jersey
and it's freezing there at night
and i got here and it was like oh my god it's like
la that's why i always crack up francis
i always tell people uh
when you meet someone from minnesota please don't say this because
every conversation goes like
this you're ready someone will say hey jason where you're from and
i go minnesota and this is inevitably what they
say oh it's cold there yeah there's there's other
things here it's not just we do have seasons
for heaven's sake okay back to this what what is it
francis at this point in your career what was it about
this script of out of the woods what has to
pop out at you to go oh i'm going to continue turning
the page is it a character that you've
never invented before is it um what
is it now that motivates you money
except for this one nobody made
any money it's independent movies
nobody everybody does it for the love yeah truly
um but you know i had seen sal bardo had written
and directed his short about this subject
and i just loved it it it just had such a
tender rhythm to it and so when he sent me
the the full script i thought you know i want to play
this because i've never played
that role before like after i did Titanic i was all speaking of
small independent movies yeah small independent
movie called Titanic yes yeah but i was offered
the same type of role the mother
who doesn't want the daughter to go out with the boy you know
and i didn't work for a year
because that was all that was coming my way so i always look for
something else i want to be in different people's shoes all
the time i want to play as many roles
as i possibly can and you have
and let me brag about you this thing here on the coffee table
it's not a new decoration it doesn't belong
to me uh Francis received the Lifetime Achievement
award from the Twin Cities Film Fest right here yeah
the beautiful Francis it's a beautiful award
it's beautiful it's a beautiful yeah my buddy Jayden
and the team did that's a beautifully
designed award yeah it is that is really nice there you
are right there right there what you
know with these independent movies um it is the love of the craft
when you go to these film fests
like the Twin Cities it must be a special level
of joy to connect with moviegoers with a with a
project like not that it's not great promoting something big
from a studio but a homegrown
product like this it's a different type
of love yeah yeah well you know again independent film is
everybody's doing it for the love for the experience
and all that you know the right
reasons other than the check yeah right yeah yeah someday
the check will come someday yeah
we're gonna take a break more with francis
when we return back in a moment everyone
oh you're fine oh yeah yeah i'd say a little
bit available you're not to see that boy again
do you understand me rose i forbid it oh stop
it mother you'll give yourself a nosebleed
this is not a game your father left us nothing
but a legacy of bad debts hidden by a good name
that name is the only card we have
to play how can you put this on my shoulders why are you
being so selfish i'm being selfish
the best the best line
the reason i did this movie is so i
could say we're women our choices are never easy it's
a great line it's a great line that's a
famous scene from a famous movie
a little independent flick called titanic uh with our
guest francis fisher you uh does it i know
for some actors i remember i'm gonna make you laugh
here i remember interviewing jan brady one time
and i met i'm uh eve plum and i mentioned the
brady bunch and she daggers came out of her eyeballs at me
and i'm like well what eve no
offense but what the hell else am i going to talk
to you about you know what i mean i didn't know
what else to ask her about but but but that's Jan
but so my point is some actors do not because your
whole craft is inventing new things new people
new characters does it drive you nuts that though
you've had a huge filmography you will always
be linked to the number one movie of i mean of all
time does it how do you feel about it that's
not bad god i love you oh i love you so much
you're so honest that's not bad could be better well
because how many times have you seen that
ridiculous clip i just said i've seen
this clip i know i know right but you know it's it's it's
great to be part of something that uh affected
so many people over the years i mean for the for
for two years after Titanic came out young girls would come up
to me on the street and scream at me
you're i hate you should have let her go
and all that it's like and then i would just say
wait until you're 18 19 years old
and you are going to learn about what's going on in society
yeah and uh back then women couldn't vote they
couldn't own property we didn't get a credit card
until 1960 you know go women can
i tell you believe me i quote you
for this is no joke when
when i saw you on the booking the staff is laughing
because i i couldn't care less about
the corset scene i think it's hysterical
but my favorite quote of yours and it's a meme that um
whenever i i look at the air
when i i board an airplane i go like this is is the boats going to
be seated according to class i always
do that one yeah yeah yeah yeah i love that and you're a meme
do you know that meme you're used
in internet conversations all the time i didn't know you're
very famous you're a famous meme too
on the internet yeah right yeah uh my only titanic
question will be um because if i don't get asked they're going
to take my tv license away from me
um what is the memory that rises to the surface
when you think of 96 uh you got shot at 96
what what rises to the top there's
so many memories give me one that maybe you don't
always talk about that i haven't said before yeah yeah want
to go viral francis yeah yeah
well i just remember the first time uh i arrived
at the set it was about four o'clock in the
morning because we were shooting nights
and uh there was always a great coffee truck on the set
the set was enormous they built half the ship in mexico the ship
and i'll never forget the first
time going over the rise in rosarito beach
and looking to the left on the shore and to see this
entire side of a ship lit up it like it was docked it
was extraordinary so i went into the set and i
grabbed a coffee because it was four
in the morning i walked over to jim and i went hey i'm
here he goes great i said do you want some coffee
and he was like can you imagine me on coffee he
was so busy i mean he was so wonderful to work with so creative
so just bouncing around all the
time and the amount of pressure i know he gets some flack
for being that but my goodness yeah
He had two studios and hundreds of millions of dollars resting
on this movie where basically everybody dies.
You know what I mean?
It's not.
I didn't.
Well, you didn't.
Yeah, yeah.
Because Francis didn't die because
the boats were seated according to class.
That's right.
More with Francis Fisher when we return.
Back in a moment, everyone.
Nine plus.
The great Francis Fisher is our special guest today.
Out of the Woods is her new film.
please go see it support small independent movies
tonight tonight tonight 5 15 yeah if you're
watching us locally tonight at 5 15
at the Twin Cities Film Fest if you're watching us from across
the country uh check your local listings
and go see it when it comes to you support small
independent movies go to the theaters and see them
and support film fest too we need a distributor
yeah so the rest of the country can see it that's right
so hello please anyway yeah um francis and
were talking during uh during
the break will you please tell them one francis that i could ask you
this tell tell your one last another you guys
are going to never watch the scene from titanic the
same way tell them the story i have so many stories
but one of the other things you know i
would go to the set even when i wasn't working
and the days when the dead bodies floating in the
water the tanks were like this uh but they had all the ice
and stuff on them right and then they
would call lunch and then all
of a sudden they'd stop floating and they'd get up and
wade through the water go up the step over the tank
and get into hot tubs because it was chilly
down there and uh so you'd see these people with ice
and all that on their faces smoking their
cigarettes and eating their sandwiches you know eating
their egg salad sandwich dead as a doornail
yeah yeah oh that's fantastic amazing you started
um correct me if i'm wrong you were in soaps too
weren't you yeah yeah do you agree now i don't want
to do a deep dive in this but oh here you
are look at you francis oh my god i was so young
the edge of night on edge of night look at that
francis oh god i hope you still have such
a chin oh you still have a great jawline you stop it
right now you're beautiful francis i don't know
that's one of my best friends sharon gabbett oh
seriously yeah really still very good friends
and the we were like the charlie's angels of soap
operas and francis do you terry davis too the three
of us do you agree with me i think when i
get really angry and defensive
when uh people poo-poo soap actors because i think you soap
actors i think are some of the hardest working
because they're turning a new script every day
do you agree with that i never discount how hard it
is to do those soaps yeah yeah because it's a
one take thing you know and we shot edge of night like
a play we'd go from scene to scene to scene
and we'd all watch in the studio
and uh we we we had a really good company because we were all
watching each other and supporting each other
as opposed to the way they do it now they do it set
by set and you don't know the rest of the cast uh
so it was a good time to be in a soap opera and
you learn how to make lemons out of lemonade repeating
the same story to seven different
people over two weeks make it fresh yeah
but i learned a lot yeah it was great experience and
i had a paycheck get that paycheck francis oh
baby yeah well i was doing you know uh uh theater
at the time in new york city i started my career
in new york uh for 14 years i did theater and then
i got a job on a soap opera
which funded my ability to work for no money in the theater
yeah because kids have no idea soaps used
to be i was mentioning network television
in the 70s and 80s i mean soaps
were everything i mean pop culture millions and millions of people
watched every day yeah yeah yeah susan lucci
anybody know oh yeah yeah okay come on you guys
are abc sisters both yeah how long were you
on edge of night uh four years i was only gonna do
it for two years but uh that check i tell you yeah yeah
so i did four years what do you i you
know i'll end uh kind of uh with a sister question
that i asked you before what are you looking for
now in a project other than
that check uh what what what interests you now i i love being older
honest to god when i when i started working
and i went to class and i was studying with stella
Adler and Lee Strasberg and numerous other
teachers I thought oh my god someday I'll be
older and I won't have to imagine
the experience I probably will have had it in some way and the
older one gets the more you carry
the more you have access to so many different things
so I'm just looking forward to
I want
to represent
you know
give it up for Francis Fisher
