CBC Windsor's Chris Ensing heads home to host London Morning
1 Video View·Oct 21, 2026
It's time to switch gears to something totally different.
Lots of you watching will be familiar with my colleague, Chris Ensign.
He's a guy who can do it all and has done it all around this newsroom.
Reporter, producer, host.
He used to host this very show for years.
He joins me now over video.
Hey, Chris.
Hey, Acton. How you doing?
Good, good.
You're not in Windsor right now
because you've got an exciting life update,
which I promised you can share in a minute.
But first, here's a bit of a Chris Ensign highlight reel.
You're dry. You're in a vehicle. Why'd you help out?
Um, because it's just the right thing
to do when you're from Windsor, if I can say that.
I grew up here, that's what we do, I guess.
This here is Betty Ying, Stacey, what do I do?
This is, like, do I look at her?
Like, yeah, Betty Ying here, Betty Ying,
Betty Ying, and joining us now is Jason Vio.
Jason, do you have sunscreen?
No.
About the rats and the alleyways
and you can see all the puddles and it was just like a
lot of blah, blah, blah.
Are we looking at anything as far as like drying up conditions
so those rats don't have to worry about getting wet?
That's who we really, we really want
to be thinking about how they're doing.
Of course, at a time like this, I guess there's
this spring thing that comes in between us.
And then there's that meteorological,
meteorological, there's another spring.
Meteorological spring, we can both have trouble with that.
I don't have all the cool apps that Colette has,
so I can't tell you how much rain we're going to get.
And I can't tell you where it's going to go.
That's all we've got for the weather forecast.
Back to you, Chris.
Thanks, Chris.
Could have worn a tie.
I'm always on the ground, on land,
looking at the ships and the boats and having a good time.
That is a tough sell.
I've never taken a bite of a nice cheesecake and said,
you know what this needs?
More powdered cheese.
There it is, Heather. You can hear everybody around us.
That's just a gorgeous moment. I don't know what you're able to see.
The people who are here say they have no plans on leaving,
but the police and the mayor are trying to find ways to deal with it.
If it is prolonged, here's what he had to say earlier today.
On the ground when you look up, it's nearly connected, this bridge.
But it's a little off-center.
Here's why.
Take a look at what it's like to stand on the Gordie Howe Bridge,
connecting Windsor to Detroit.
Chris Hensing, CBC News, Windsor.

Chris Hensing, CBC News, Windsor.
Chris Hensing, CBC News, Windsor.
Chris, you make us all smile, I can tell you that.
But the suspense is killing us, so what's your news?
The news is that I still haven't found the tie
I haven't found the razor yet either
but you don't have to put up with the beard anymore
I'm making the move to radio
and I'm making the move to London
along with it
an opportunity jumped out
for the host of the London Morning Job
after Andrew Brown moved over
to Alberta and so I applied
and I got the gig
nothing about that process was
easy acting, we've spoken about it
I know I talked to the folks in the newsroom about it as well
But I haven't been too public about
the whole process about trying to make that decision.
I'm sure as folks understanding Windsor, going home feels good.
And it feels good to be around family and friends
and to be in a place where you set some sturdy roots.
And so to go home means a lot.
But to leave Windsor is tough.
When I came out there in 2017, just with the floods that hit,
a lot of folks were like, oh, two years after coming from Newfoundland.
You do two years in Windsor, you go to Toronto and then off you go.
I could not leave Windsor. It just really gripped into me and just took
my heart in a way that I didn't expect, but I absolutely loved.
And so, yeah, a new gig acting in London here,
but very hard to say goodbye to Windsor.
Very hard to believe that you folks had some
of those videos that you played.
I don't know how you dug those up, but yeah,
it was very kind of you to piece that together.
And yeah, excited to go,
but really heartbroken to leave the folks out in Windsor-Essex.
There's a folder in the archives with just Chris Ensign funny moments.
So that's where it came from. Don't worry.
But, you know, this wouldn't be a conversation
without meteorologist Colette Kennedy.
Let's bring her in here.
Colette, what did you make of the Chris video?
What do you make of Chris moving to London?
Well, OK, first of all, heartbreaking
because how much we're going to miss him.
But, you know, Chris, I was here, lucky enough to be here
with you on your very first day on air here in Windsor.
we had a lot of fun maybe too much fun uh
is that little trip down memory lane uh you know but
you've been so great to work
with i don't think you've changed uh only in ways of growth since i
first started working with you but you're
so smart and funny and incredibly hard working
terribly good looking i think it must be the beard uh
a quick antidote like i don't know if
you recall this because i'm sure i told you
but for a time the entire large monitor in the weather
center was just an image of your face i i oh
that's perfect i pushed my dog off the screen
to put you on for a little while
and that's actually a compliment so don't take that the
wrong way anyway you're going to be missed
so much love working with you but really happy for
you and know that you're not that far away
which is great too if you're just tuning in chris ensing
moving to london to take the london morning radio show job
and Chris, if someone wants to check out
the show, where can they find it? Yeah, it's streaming us online
the CBC Listen app is the best way, and if
you're ever moving through 93.5 FM, uh, and you'll find us
but you're waking up early to get a hold
of us, the 6 a.m. start is a bit different than
the 6 p.m. is, uh, nice to listen to. So happy that
you're a part of this, you're such a big part of my life in Windsor
and uh, you're such a professional
but so fun, and just the conversations
that we had about town and watching the Lions go on their run
and the Raptors on a rip too.
I know the Chiefs are always the team to watch,
but God, just to work with professionals
at gems like you every single day
was just a true gift.
And the way that people in Windsor
just love the dedication that you
and the rest of the team show every night there.
you're a great group of people.
So typical of you,
you're making it about everybody else.
This is about you, my friend.
It can't be, it can't be.
It's on the shoulders of everyone else.
right? That's the, that's the way, but it's so kind.
And I very much appreciate the opportunity
to say goodbye and to watch that video back.
Wow. Kind words all around. Thanks, Chris. We'll
miss you, pal. Thanks. See you later, Windsor.
