Talk of the Day: How do you pick your pets' names?

Here's what we've been waiting for, all right? We have been waiting for this segment. So what is the story behind your pet's name? A new report shows how movies, music, and everything else, even favorite foods, can inspire what we call our pets. So Tyler's got it all. I can't wait to hear about this study, because you keep teasing this, like, sounds like a meal, like food names. So, I mean, the fact that people will name their pets anything, I think that's good, because you know what? At least you are going to love whatever you're naming it. And so that means you're going to then, in turn, love the animal. And you're the one that's got to live with the name. So, yeah, you want to pick something that you're going to have fun with and you're going to like and that is appropriate for the pet. Exactly. And so think about this. If you are a food person and you have a cat named Chicken Nugget, this is your absolute moment because there is a cat. Apparently, people are naming their cats Chicken Nugget and other things like that. And I guess that's kind of cool. Like, you just call it Nugget or something. That would be cool. The chicken part, I don't know if I would be proudly saying that at a vet office. But maybe if there's like a good tie-in, like your cat once ate all your chicken. Some kind of memory associated with it. There clearly must be something with that. And so according to the survey, this is coming from Rover, so you know that organization or the company that you can basically find people to watch your pets. So they say Rumi claimed the number one spot for trending canine names. So if you have a dog, Rumi is number one, and that's because it's inspired by the main character in the K-pop drama. And then Lumi is second. That was from Lumi and the Great Big Galaxy. Dog lovers seem to also turn to sports this year. Obviously, we have the World Cup and things like that. So Mello, the nickname of basketballer LaMelo Ball and Carmelo Anthony ranked third. So lots of people going the sports route as well. And then also during the Super Bowl, we had Bad Bunny perform. people have been naming their pets Benito, yeah which obviously is a nod to Benito, is I gotta say actually a very cute pet name yeah i like Benito i think that's actually super cute so like that actually fits right there and some of the other ones i'm just looking at the notes here uh ducky which is inspired by a popular social media trend okay um came in at number five for dogs meanwhile cats as i mentioned chicken nugget uh in the top miracle at number two uh badger at number three you can see it on your screen right there sunday you know i do love a ice cream sundae just hold the chocolate all right okay like a cat named sundae okay i think i kind of see it and so we've been asking you guys for the last about 15 minutes to send in pictures and my gosh uh we love you we got let me just say we love all of you because when we call for animal pictures it's always you know don't disappoint yeah so we've been getting so many but like so do you have a pet all right so here's the story i did a story at the amphibian foundation of buckhead many years this is like six or seven years ago and they allowed me to adopt two newts do you know what a newt is i have no idea it's so it's like a it's an aquatic salamander so it lives in water they're too they're the girls here's the problem why didn't you submit a picture here's the problem we can't tell them apart so we just call them the girls they're just the girls it's not like they hear you yes they do don't you don't you dare all right they know me and they love me i have a bond with them see when i call my dog's name he actually responds his name is fitzgerald um where does that come from great gatsby oh it's from the great gatsby I've got Fitzgerald, and his sibling is his brother, Gatsby. Perfect. Okay, that's cute. Actually, I really like those. And Fitzy, as we call him, he is a sheepadoodle. Okay. And so he kind of fits the Fitzy. Where are your pictures? You've got to send in pictures. I was too busy making you look good on TV. Do them for 1 o'clock, all right? You didn't succeed at that, by the way. But so what are people sending us? I want to see this. So Ella is, I think, joining us now. So Ella, you have some of these pictures. I mean, we have been getting so many. we're up to 40 pictures so far. Yeah, anytime you tell me that we're doing a pet story, I get so excited for all the pictures people are gonna send. Can't wait to show it. The first one I wanna show you here, bully, so, so cute. Wow, that's a great picture. Because when he was little, he was just that, a bully, but now he's the sweetest boy ever. And apparently he's going to all kids events for the Habersham Sheriff's Office, so you can see him there. That is super cute, I love the hat too. I did look for a food name, so we also have Muffin, she is three years old and we picked the name Muffin because of her hair color and she's so sweet and friendly. She loves toys and getting coffee with my mom, so super, super sweet. She looks like a muffin too, like she looks like, that's perfect. This one, he really spoke to me, so my furry son's name is Juice, I named him Juice because Because when he was a puppy, he had so much energy. And I remember standing over him saying, this boy's got a lot of juice. He looked up at me and said, yep, my name's Juice. That's amazing. Yes. Look at that smile too, that's a smile, yes. Right? And then this one kind of reminded me of your dogs, Tyler, just cuz kinda old soul names. Gertrude and Wilbur because Frenchies need old soul names. OMG, I'm obsessed. Look at those. Gertrude and Wilbur need to come visit Fox 5 Atlanta. Samantha, you have an open invitation. Yeah, every day we ask for pet pictures is my favorite day. Fendi, oh no, this is Sammy Davis Jr. Sammy Davis Jr. I'm going through right now as people are continuing. I love this. Tyler is literally sitting next to me. You guys are sending in so many great photos. He is there going through them now. We have so many. This one, Fendi, because she has her own sassiness. Are you kidding me? Yes, look at the sass. Look at it. Look at that poise. Yes, yes, model. That is America's Next Top Model right there, Fendi. Isn't she? Yes. And we cannot forget Gooby. This is Gooby. Apparently, he was named Gooby because he would drool in the car, and it was gooey. Oh, I love Gooby. There's one more. We have one more. I just added it. I'm going to take it. Okay, Tyler's very into it. Oh. Do you see it? Oh, my gosh. Honey Butter Biscuit. Look at Honey Butter Biscuit. It looks like she or he just ate about 17 of them. Wow. Ella, Tyler, this has been the best. Thank you guys so much. Thank you guys for sending in your photos. Keep them coming just for our own amusement, right? We'll keep looking. So have a great day.
