It's time to step up to support a good cause,
and we mean literally, during Skyrise Chicago.
Have you ever done that, Jake, where you climbed the Willis?
No, I have not.
I got winded walking into the studio, so no, I missed that one.
All right, people are going to climb 100 floors
to support the Shirley Ryan Ability Lab, and
one of those people is Gabriela Primas.
Hi, Gabby.
So you guys are having us follow up,
Jon Bon Jovi, and then also I'm hearing that Jake
has never done this before
and I'm hearing that now I have to put him on the list for Sunday
November 8th, Sue, we've done it man, 105 floors
this morning, thank you very much, okay we've done some
flights guys, but we all haven't done all 105, it's going
to happen November 8th, but this is a
preparation day isn't it, Sue? That is, and you feel good uh
this is going to be your second year, right?
this is all for Shirley Ryan Ability Lab, right?
America's number one rehab hospital that we're
lucky enough to have right here in Chicago.
For everyone at home, you're
gonna be participating. What is your story? Because you had a recent
diagnosis a handful of years ago.
Right, four years ago I was diagnosed with PD
Parkinson's disease
and my doctor in neurology said I've got two things to
tell you. First, the only thing that really works is exercise and
And second, you go to Shirley Ryan Ability Lab,
and you have a full workout with them or, you know, summary workout,
and then you just, you know, you go to the labs themselves.
They're targeting PD with certain exercise classes, and they're great.
Amazing, and that's what makes us so special.
Of course, you're going to climb because you're part of the program.
You're seeing benefits from Shirley Ryan Ability Lab.
but also everyone else who signs up
and we encourage you to do so, it will benefit uh Shirley
Ryan Ability Lab and all the great things that you guys
do because you have a whole community now
but I want to ask you how it feels getting up
to the finish line where we are right now
and what it looks like walking out this door it feels like
a um runner's high a runner's high a
runner's high you can just um know that the dopamine
is working up there and uh it's a very
very special feeling
and it couldn't have happened without Shirley Ryan and Ability
Lab.
There's no way it could have happened.
I'm part of a group there and the group itself
really helps one to really understand each
other and talk to each other openly
that you don't share with others about what's going
on and what are the new treatments
and what else can we do with at shirley ryan and um it's just
great it makes it it makes it worthwhile to live
and it is so amazing because even for preparation
day we have some cheerleaders here
because it is awesome to see some of the current patients
at shirley ryan um also some of the former ones
that are sometimes in the stairwell so enjoy the
view here at the top of the willis tower gm
of skydeck here randy you guys have hosted skyrise
Chicago for the last you guys are such good cheerleaders uh
for the last 18 years yeah I mean
it is cool getting up here crossing
that finish line it'll look a lot different there's a whole
DJ and stuff that day uh
but what is the energy like the energy is it's unbelievable I mean it's
normally pretty energetic on every day people
are in a good mood they're here they're taking it in
there's awe for the views going every direction
but you layer in a couple hundred people that
are cheering and accomplishing something that's
not very easy to do but more importantly doing
it for a great cause, the Shirley Ryan Ability Lab,
and what they do with the money makes
us feel great.
And of course, the fact that we can raise over
a million dollars here at the Tower to
give to them in one day, it's really rewarding.
I know that you're the record holder for,
just kidding, I think it's like 13, I believe
it or not, I think it's like, what is it, like 13 minutes?
I think people have broke that record to get all the way up,
I mean 105 floors.
And why do we say 105 rather than 103?
Because we thought a couple years ago,
let's take people through the brand new museum we
created so every climber will go through the museum
and it's really great so it's two floors
down and then you come up to the 105th floor
and you get the most rewarding finish line here in the
city of Chicago any event that it has I would
stack any finish line against what you're looking
at here it is absolutely incredible okay skyrisechicago.org
that is the place to be you
can see where they're at in terms
of their fundraising goal it's 1.3 that you're trying
to raise for Skyrise this year
and it's all going to benefit Shirley Ryan Ability Lab and guys
participate and if you can't participate
then that's where you donate i'm going to be one of
the climbers i have a list of Fox Chicago peeps
who are also going to be climbing with me i'm
going to be sending out an email later guys
to try to get more people um awesome cause we're
going to go over to ledge because once you're done
then also included is the very special sightseeing
this is a beautiful view wait until you get
over there all right i'll send it back to you
you guys for now. All right. Thank you so much, Gabby.
