Well done.
We're going to need to do that after this segment.
Here's the deal.
If you don't know by now, we're very competitive,
and we will take on any competition that you can throw at us.
And today, I can clearly say this is one that we never,
ever thought that we would be doing
because we were not familiar with it,
even though it's been happening here
in the D.C. area for a very long time.
So we're with a team from Five Guys, one of our favorite franchises
and the leading franchise in the United States.
And what we're doing with the cheese is we
are stacking this for a good reason.
So we have Amy and Molly, and this is Joe,
who are with us now to talk all about the cheese stacking.
Yes, cheese stacking.
It is highlighted in a new Prime Video
docuseries following the Five Guys Games,
a global competition that employees use speed,
accuracy, and skills across several events,
like the burger wrapping race, and they can win $100,000.
So here's a look at the on-the-line World Burger Games.
Competition is very fierce.
We have to give
our all.
The storyline is going
to be me versus cheese.
Well, today the storyline is us versus cheese.
So here's the deal.
Joe, turn around real quick so that we can see one of your rolls.
He's the judge.
So you judge these competitions, right?
Yep.
What I'm curious about, and we'll get into the show aspect of it,
which you can watch on Prime, but the games themselves,
you guys have been doing this for more than a decade now.
How do you even narrow down the playing field
from your thousands of locations
and, I don't know, tens or hundreds
of thousands of employees that you have.
So, yeah, we have about 50,000 employees
globally that send in their times.
Then we narrow that down to 100, then 25, and then the top eight.
So they're on their own at their location to get a time
when it comes to events,
three events, we'll do the cheese stacking,
and they have the chance to go to the top for $100,000.
$100,000.
I really like that this is kind of reinvesting into the employees.
And you want competition amongst them
to really just kind of perform their best,
give the best product out there.
This is a way that they really get invested into it.
tell us a little bit about the idea and the show
and what goes behind that sure um so we started
this many years ago but it really started
with what we do in the kitchen right so they do this
every single day it's just the prep
and so we wanted to make it fun for the employees and so
they started doing in the store
and we wanted to have a fun competition it just became a production
over the years and we realized that there
were stories behind that that we wanted to share and
so that's why we made the show what what does
this do for the brand what does it do for the
employees what does it do for the franchises what did
this do for those of you at corporate here in
D.C. when you have the finals at National Harbor?
I mean, it creates an amazing
energy. Everyone gets really excited
about it. And the camaraderie
during the competition is amazing.
How they support each other. They're so
positive. Everybody's working hard
and they just add a little dash of whimsy in there.
I love it. So the show, it just
dropped this week on Amazon Prime. Five episodes.
If you want to check it out. I mean, you guys have the same
producers who do the red carpet shows and everything else.
This is top, top notch. Joe,
you've got to show us what we're doing here.
I want to do the whole thing, but
So I'll show you guys.
So we're gonna start with our hands flat on the table.
Okay.
Then we're gonna do a countdown.
I'm gonna grab my stack of cheese over here, Julie.
And I'll show you guys real quick
before you guys get into it,
but it's gonna be three, two, one, go,
and then you'll kind of start stacking it.
Okay.
So it's all about speed.
So we're literally taking them,
and now we're stacking in a particular order?
Yep, you wanna do a little stagger stack,
so kind of like a star shape,
and that just makes it a little bit easier
for the grill person to be able to operate on the line.
And I was gonna say, in the actual location,
it just makes it easier for them to grab the cheese
from the next thing.
tube yeah okay all right so uh why don't we go
at the same time julie and we'll see how we go and
are you running the clock on this um we're both
running we're both gonna do it we're gonna count
you guys down you're ready hands
on the table we'll just go we're not gonna do the whole stack
but we'll go until you say stop okay all right
on the count of three one two three i already tore
the first one you got it you got this is they're already done
by now i know what's the best taking
I was going to say the best time we have is 19 and a half.
Oh, my gosh.
Look, I'm not going to make it a pile.
You guys are at 16 right now.
Keep going.
You got it.
You got it.
Oh, they're sticking together.
This is terrible.
Julie, your stack is so much better than mine.
No, well, I think my cheese is falling apart, too.
I can see.
That's a penalty.
It's a five-second penalty.
So I usually have it in my hand, and I usually use the grooves of it.
So you'll see the grooves in there.
Oh, why didn't I have this ahead of time?
Very good.
And here, Julie, is all you're eating.
Julie's got it.
I am, Julie.
Yeah, go ahead.
You know what?
They're going to wrap us up.
Tell me what you can expect aside from the cheese stacking.
Uh-oh.
I just want the burgers now, okay, Julie?
I will concede because your stack is like pretty good.
You quit on me.
Tell me real quick, though.
I want to find out about the show.
What else do we have?
What drama is there?
What are the storylines?
Yes.
Well, you'll see a last-minute drama.
Perhaps not all of the contestants
that you think are going to compete compete.
And you'll hear stories about what they're competing for.
the backstory. Looking for it. All right. On Amazon
Prime now. Check it out. And of course, obviously,
four or five guys right here locally
based in the D.C. area. All right. Time
for us to eat. We'll see you after this.
