With Election Day less than two weeks away, Republicans and Democrats
are now making their final push in the fight for control of Congress.
One of the biggest battlegrounds is Ohio,
where candidates' political parties are outside groups
spending more than $400 million on ads in the Senate race.
$400 million.
Fox's Pete Cudahy is in Sharonville, Ohio.
Pete, I understand you were able to chat
with both candidates on the trail.
Good morning to you.
Good morning, Tom and Kelly.
Well, both candidates,
incumbent Republican John Husted and former Democratic Senator
Sherrod Brown are campaigning heavily on their record
However, that hasn't stopped the two
from poking jabs at each other, saying to Ohioans
that the other one will make the state worse.
Well, Fox News power rankings say that this is one
of six toss-up races in the Senate
that could switch the majority.
Ohio voters have elected Democratic nominee Sherrod Brown
to the U.S. Senate three separate
times. And despite losing to Senator Bernie Moreno in 2024,
he's hoping voters give him
another chance after two years of Republican control in Washington.
It's very different in terms of people.
People see the system as rigged. They didn't vote for
this war. They didn't vote for higher gas prices.
They didn't vote for higher costs
at a grocery store or fertilizer prices.
And people know that John Husted's done
nothing to stop it. Farmers know he's not been there on their behalf.
People in town know that
He's done nothing to stop high food prices,
so it's just a very different time.
Ohio's governor appointed Husted to the Senate
in 2025 after JD Vance left the seat
to become vice president.
He's making the case that Ohio's economy
is better than ever under Republican leadership
and argues that the Buckeye State has seen enough of Sherrod Brown.
Ohio, we have the lowest unemployment rate in Ohio history,
the most jobs in our state's
history.
Why?
environment that encourages people to invest here.
Don't chase them away like Sherrod Brown
wants to do.
He's been in office for over 50 years.
Can you name one thing that he's done to make
your life better? One thing, think of it.
I mean, if he's been around that long, seemingly
you can come up with one thing, right?
With all the attention that this race has gotten,
it's drawn in political figures from
across the country. President Donald Trump
was here just over a week ago. Today, Vice
President J.D. Vance will be here
in the Sharonville Convention Center behind me. And on Saturday,
Barack Obama will be here rallying with Sherrod Brown
and gubernatorial candidate Amy Acton.
Back to you.
All right.
Pete Cudahy reporting live for us there in Ohio.
Thank you, Pete.
All right.
