Trump campaigns in deep-red states, fearing Democratic wave

In the usually red state of Texas,
early voting in the midterm election has already started.
It's a state Donald Trump won by 14 points in 2024.
And now, if the polls are right, Democrats could win.
I want to vote for Democrats
because I think that we are in really great trouble in this country.
In most polls, the Democratic Senate candidate
in Texas, James Tallarico,
holds a narrow lead over the Republican,
Ken Paxton, who's supported by Donald Trump.
Rising prices at the gas pump, driven by the war in Iran,
along with Trump's widely unpopular
tariffs, have helped drive the president's approval rating
to a record low, which has
sunk to the low to mid-30s. And yet,
the president has hit the campaign trail, asking his supporters
to pretend that he's on the ballot.
In Kansas, he likened Democrats to rioters in France.
When you see burning steeples and raging fires in France,
just remember that is what the radical
Democrats want to do to Americans.
And here's a graphic that speaks a thousand words. It shows
Trump's campaign stops in October, mainly in deep red states,
which he carried by double digits in
2024, and even in Alabama and Oklahoma,
where he won by more than 30 points. The Democratic Senate
candidate in deep red Kansas, Adam Hamilton,
could make history as the state hasn't sent a Democrat
to the Senate since 1932.
It's saying that people who are reliably red state are saying,
what's happening in Washington, D.C. is not okay.
But Republicans are hoping massive spending might turn
the tide in their favor.
The Republican National Committee has just pumped $50 million
into the midterm races.
Hundreds of millions of dollars have
also come from GOP donors such as Elon Musk,
leaving Democrats outspent by Republicans by almost three to one.
