Today I'm gonna show you how to make this delicious potato
and meat pie. First
thing we're gonna do we're gonna chop our potatoes
and add into cold water
just like this. The smaller they
the faster they will cook and we're gonna
boil these for about 15 to 20 minutes.
What I usually do I get rid of the white
foam that forms on top
and just spoon it out with your ladle and make sure you
boiling your potatoes on medium heat.
Once your potatoes are done you're gonna
to just put them in the bowl
and they'll already be soft you just want to mash them into a nice
puree just like this then you're going to go ahead
and add your softened butter and mix everything
together nice and well it's going to melt pretty quickly
and will be quite easy to mix this batter
then go ahead and add your egg
and mix everything together one more time just like so i usually just
use a spoon but we're gonna switch to a whisk
so there's just more even mixture
over here I've got all my dry ingredients add those in and just mix
everything together again you can go ahead
and now use your spoon the actual
dough will start to become thicker
and easier to work with and then I usually
switch to my hand
and knead the dough in the bowl with my hand of course you can
also use a stand mixer with dough hook attachment
and knead the dough until it
becomes nice and soft
and pliable just like this this process will take you know five to six
minutes or so so be patient you want
to knead it until you feel the dough is nice and soft
and is pliable just like this and doesn't stick
to your hands take your ring and get ready for
your dough you're going to roll out your dough as thin as possible
because this really is important
so whatever ring you're going to be using
or a mold you need to roll out the amount for that
specific ring so you might have some dough left over
if you're using a smaller ring it's really
up to you now once i've rolled out my dough it's going
to be very easy to pick it up just be
careful we're going to place the ring back onto the tray
and then add your dough right inside
fold it through and glue it basically to your mold work
with your hands and just press gently
on top of your mold go around the edges make sure it's nice
and sealed and even just like this
we're gonna set this aside
while we prepare our filling
in a pan add some oil and then add your
chopped onions then add a little bit of butter
and just fry the onions for good five to seven
minutes until they're nice and sauteed feel free
to add any seasoning that you like i'm adding salt
and pepper and just keep cooking your onions after five minutes
or so you can go ahead and
add your meat i'm using pork like nice and fatty pork
but you can use any meat that you like
bear in mind the pork makes this pie a lot juicier
and just mix everything together one more time and
cook this for further five to ten minutes
or until your meat is fully cooked next we're going to make
our fillings so in a bowl add your milk
then add your tomato paste or you can use ketchup
up mix everything together until it's nice
and smooth and then go ahead and add your eggs and
mix everything one more time
then into your meat add your chopped peppers and mix everything
together one more time peppers
are optional i just really like them once your filling is done
you're going to go ahead and add your filling
into your pastry just spoon it all over inside with all
the juice that you might have
because we've got nice strong pastry just add everything nice and
even and then go ahead and add
your milky mixture we made earlier add everything in make sure it's
nice and covered and it should look just like
this we're going to place it in the oven and bake this
i'll leave all the in all the directions
in your recipes after it's been baked i like to add extra
cheese so you're going to add some cheese this is optional
and then place it back in the oven
to crisp up this pastry takes a while to cook
so be patient once it's cooked you're going to take
it out of the oven leave it to cool down
and then gently run a knife around the edges and the pie
will come out pretty easily
so don't worry about it just leave it to cool down a little bit so it
can set and yeah just the mold will come out nice
and easy and again it will be very hot inside so
leave it to cool down a bit i recommend leaving the pie in the fridge
so it sets if you cut it
right away it might leak out a little bit with the juice
but it's absolutely delicious and gorgeous
and you're gonna love it it's very meaty
and with a nice thin potato crust i hope you enjoyed this
recipe
