Progress is being made in Norway.
That's according to the U.S. and Ukrainian President
Volodymyr Zelensky. We have some clear ideas on how to get to peace,
and we are united with our
European partners in these efforts,
and we want the Americans to take these ideas to the Russians.
Zelensky met with U.S. Envoy Steve Witkoff
and Jared Kushner in Oslo Tuesday. Kushner taking
part in the meeting virtually,
along with leaders from Norway and Finland, as well as
European representatives.
With peace talks seemingly back on track, Zelensky said the
U.S. was once again sharing intelligence,
after he had accused the U.S. of withholding
intelligence of at least a week.
We are thankful that intelligence works now. I'm speaking
about early warning, what is very important for our people,
for children, adults, civilians,
because we can hear when ballistic is coming.
So we are thankful to American side.
Now it works.
Zelensky also had a phone call with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio
about disruptions to Starshield,
a crucial satellite system that Ukraine uses
to communicate quickly and to both launch and prevent drone attacks.
According to a report by the Wall Street Journal,
Elon Musk ordered the slowdown of Starshield
and capped connection speeds.
Ukraine hopes the talks will draw a line under weeks of tensions
between Zelensky and U.S. President Donald Trump after Trump struck
a diesel deal with Russia, waived sanctions set to put pressure
on the Kremlin, and called for the Ukrainian president to be replaced.
And what are your expectations when your special envoy,
Steve Witkoff, heads to Russia tomorrow?
Well, I think what's happening
is that Russia would like to get it done.
Witkoff will meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin Wednesday,
where he is expected to offer
a face-to-face meeting with Trump and Zelensky.
