You may or may not have heard,
a lot of people have sent me some DMs, snaps, messages, smoke
signals asking me, you know, where the hell I've been.
Well, we've parted ways after 25 years
and they've been the best 25 years of my life professionally
and I couldn't have done it
without you. You know, it wasn't my choice.
It was a business decision. It was a decision that
they made that i cannot be mad
at man i spent uh loyally 25 years to them and in return they
let me live a life that me
and my family could have only have dreamt of and the man is here
himself G-Man from 97.9
and he's moved on a class act glad to have you here on the
so obviously uh we all come to that point
in our lives where we have to transition and do
something else when we talk about this transition
was this something that you guys decided mutually
what uh well you know they uh they asked me
um and obviously it was a business decision it wasn't my
choice um and i can respect that you know um so it
was nothing that i did personally or anything
like that but 25 years is a long time i did you know
that you know i i can only be grateful for
the opportunity they gave me, so I hold my head up,
and I think I did some great things
there, and I'm proud of what I've done.
And what's next for you?
What's your next move?
I think I want to take some time off for a little bit.
You know, I've been working hard.
I've been at the box 25 years.
I think the most I've taken was a week off, a vacation at a time.
Before that, it was...
How many weeks you want off, G-Man?
Well, no, I'm saying I've only taken like a week off at a time.
I've never taken more than that.
Right, right.
So, you know, right now...
I only do three days, and that's it.
Yeah, I like the Fridays and Mondays, you know, and have the weekends.
Right, spread it out.
But, you know, I think I want to take some time.
I got a new grandbaby, baby Rowan.
Congratulations.
Yeah, I'm a pop-pop now.
So, taking time and spending it with him, my family,
and just kind of assess my options.
There's some things on the table.
But it's something that I'm looking forward
to is spending some quality time.
And many of us in the broadcast industry work under contracts.
So, is your contract over what?
I still have time on it.
So obviously they're they're they're honoring that.
So I'm going to I'm going to I'm going to relax for a little bit.
There's some options on the table for me right now.
But, man, I've been doing this for a while and I'm just I'm ready
to take a little small break before I get right back into it.
So, yeah, sometimes you just have to take a breather
because you're talking about a quarter of a century.
It sounds like a long time, but I got nothing
but love and respect for 97.9 The Box and Radio One, man.
It gave me an opportunity of a lifetime.
You know, they got this, you know, this Mexican kid and said,
hey, man, you want you to come join the team?
So it was very unexpected at the time, but very appreciative.
And I can I can only thank them for everything they've done for me.
And of course, you have to think about the fans
who have supported you for 25 years as well.
and one of the important things in closure
is saying goodbye that was the hard part because
i really wanted to do that on the air
and uh you know i tried to get that trying to make that work
uh we couldn't get it to work uh
and it's okay yeah i did put out a statement on my social media
as you saw um and then
when you hit me up about coming on here i mean i really want to address
the uh the listeners 25 years is a long time
and uh for those that are watching i just want to say
thank you from the bottom of my heart for allowing me
to be on your car radios at home at work and
it's been nothing but an absolute honor to uh
to do that here in the city of Houston city that i
grew up in you know and listen to a station
that i grew up listening to uh so i have nothing but
great things to say about that and the listeners
are ones that made it happen and i got to thank
them from the bottom of my heart truly
because they are the ones that you know make this thing
go. And we have some listeners. Let's play it.
