Regina Brejda knew she had to book a solo exhibition for Alex Foltz the minute he stepped into her 4P Studio on Pleasant Home Road.
Although she’d never heard of Foltz, who is a relative newcomer to the Augusta area, she said she was impressed by cell phone photos of his work. Foltz is from Vermont but spent a few years in South Carolina. He hadn’t been in the area long when he visited Brejda seeking a space to showcase his artwork.
Brejda said cell phone photos rarely do justice to an oil painting, but even in a thumbnail-sized photo, she knew his works had to be shown. So, she gave him a daunting task. Paint 50 paintings in about six months.
