AI GeneratedThe Vancouver Canucks are implementing several lineup changes as they return home to face the Carolina Hurricanes. Key updates include player absences due to illness, strategic shifts in forward lines to break scoring slumps, and a focus on improving defensive stability to reduce high-danger scoring chances against.
We get multiple changes within
the Canucks lineup heading into their next game as Manny
Mulhollander gives updates on a player not playing changes to this lineup
and we get a look as the
Vancouver Canucks look to right the ship
as they return home for a stretch of games. We're going
to break down everything you need to know
on a player absent from practice, the changes within
the lineups, the implications this has on one young player,
plus so much more surrounding this
team and you're not going to want to miss it

on everything to do around our favorite team in
the Vancouver Canucks and let's just dive straight
into the updates today we're the first one is
coming from Marco Rossi
who missed the Canucks practice due to an injury now looking at Marco
Rossi a prime piece that came back in the Quinn
U-Train along with incredible things including
Adam Davani go watch that last video I did
because Adam Davani had been dominating the OHL but Marco
Rossi was not a part of the lineup
and not on the ice for the Vancouver Canucks as he was dealing
with an illness now looking at Marco Rossi
an incredible piece that came back four points over
a stretch of games to start the season
for the Canucks including almost 55 percent on the dot
16 shots including almost a 19 percent
from shooting percentage looking at Marco Rossi and
what he brings to the Canucks is a speedy center
that can play the wing position we've seen it this
year with Pedersen and Marco Rossi being missed within
this lineup it does suck for the Canucks
but it's a perfect opportunity for a lot of these guys
to take that next step and someone to really
show out now with Marco Rossi out at least Filipetto
is back in the lineup a little fact
about Filipetto the referee that he collided
with will be refereeing this game so fingers crossed
that doesn't happen again but of course with Filipetto back
and the depth at center it's so
nice to finally say that after again say it
with me David Kemp was a 2C for this team just last
season this is a team
that now has multiple changes including Jonathan Lekkerimäki being
demoted from the top line now looking at the practice lines
and for the Canucks moving in
the big changes within this organization
are of course Carlson joining Pedersen and Jacob Ross
something that we've seen as a part of last season Cotter,
Heidle and Besser and Jonathan
Lekkerimäki moved down to the third line alongside Doc Drew O'Connor
and Liam Algren now looking at
this and of course the availability heading
into the game with multiple guys out Marco Rossi is
out and still uncertain if he will be playing
in this game not a part of the line rushes so i'm
suspecting that he will not be participating
in the Canucks game versus the Carolina Hurricanes
diving into this Thatcher Demko whose recovery
still continues there's absolutely no timeline
and we once again don't get a starting goaltender for tonight's game
but from recent play i'd almost
be willing to bet that it is Merrillin that will
be taking the crease for the Canucks when
they're returning home now diving into this the biggest thing
is now sitting around Carlson being moved up
with Pedersen and the demotion of Jonathan Lekkerimäki
who started this season hot now
Carlson an incredible player a huge part
of the Abbotsford team for the past couple of seasons
before becoming a full-time NHL player with the Canucks
which is incredible to see Carlson is so
underrated with seven points including two goals based on percentage
though not taking a lot of
so I don't look into it too much
but what we've seen out of Carlson over the past two seasons is
of course six points in 23 games getting
the full-time stint with the Canucks last year was
79 games played 35 points of course a minus 28
but again it was a bad team you can put the blame on
plus minus it's a full team stat not individual
but Carlson now getting the chance to go up is
going to show that Manny Malhotra
and Carlson trying to prove to Manny Malhotra that keeping
him on that top line is exactly what the Canucks need
to do if they want to continue having success
to get Pedersen out of this slump
and of course looking for this team to ring off a win which
it felt like it's been a little bit before we've seen
and now looking at Carlson and who he plays
with with Paul Carter Marco Rossi 26 minutes
played zero goals zero assists 46.7 percent of
the shot attempts these numbers should go up especially
with Pedersen and a line mate that
he's kind of worked with and knows how things gel
and of course getting Pedersen out of that slump
is I believe what Manny Malhotra is trying
to do despite a super hot to the start to the season
the past five games Pedersen put up 0.4 points 0.2 goals 0.2 assists
this is a player that of
course came out of the gate swinging there's
people including myself talking about the bounce
back which is still a thing
and genuinely something that I think Pedersen is going to
continue pushing as players go through slumps.
He's still having an incredible year looking over
the stretch of games, including five losses on the screen.
Pedersen still has a goal and an assist
over the stretch of games,
and the Canucks as a whole have both not been playing well. So you
cannot put the full blame, but looking versus Carolina,
Pedersen's had some very good games,
including multiple point games in back-to-back-to-back
with two in all his last three
games this is going to be a big game for Pedersen
to go up against the defending Stanley Cup
champions after a belter, but is the best way
to put it in their last game losing 7-2 versus
Carolina where Pedersen had two points two hits
was basically the only productive line with
Jonathan LackerMackie and of course Jake DeBrusk playing there
but now with LackerMackie demoted
Carlson goes up with Pedersen this is going to be interesting
and he was not removed from power
play one so don't stress
because I think this is just a reset for a young player Jake DeBrusk
spoke on this as well I think my only advice
is just shoot like if I give it to you shoot
you know we're obviously we're struggling to shoot as a team right now
and he's our best shooter
Jonathan LackerMackie and again if you go watch any
of his highlights from the SHL when he played
with Oulun HK this is a kid that has
a lethal shot we know it at the NHL level we know it at
the AHL level we know at the SHL level
this is now just a young player that needs to continue
building the confidence in hopefully a full season
in the NHL for the first time and this is a team
that again is struggling you cannot put the blame on Pedersen
but a lot of the goals against you
can't put the blame on the defense as we look
at a defensive reset at home now Luke Schenn said it
best we need to be a heck of a lot better
and that is a key point of this team I don't even know why
the photo change to him in a Sabres jersey that's disgusting
but this is a team that has been
stringing out and leaving their goaltenders to dry
when looking at the high danger chances for
the Canucks we can see share of shots based 23.5% high danger
the save percentage during this is
72.7% looking at the medium danger where 32%
of the shots come from with a sub .860 save percentage
the low danger where we see the Canucks actually defending
and playing well the goaltenders are
playing great at a .932 despite the league average being
at a .960 yes the goaltenders are a bit of a
problem Merrill Linen has been incredible Kevin Langen has less than
a desired start to the year but the
Canucks as a whole and the defensive scheme
of this game it's a lot of young guys getting their
feet wet a lot of young guys looking to cement themselves
so this is something they need to pick
up and really change is those high danger shot attempts
and to limit those versus games listen
looking at the practice defensive pairings we know Zebulon has
been demoted with Luke Shen
Jamie Olteac and Tom Villender events that don't back up
that pairing too much but again i love that
every single line is running with a veteran defenseman
and a young guy where this limits a
lot of young guys getting hemmed in their zones keeping
a veteran presence within them and heading
into a game where of course you're not looking
to be a top team in the NHL you're not looking to be
a team that makes it to the Stanley Cup playoffs let alone finals
for the next couple of seasons
but this is a team that wants to continue a bit
of success we can see 2-7-1 starting the year hot
and trending down this is still a team that wants
a number one overall pick but fans it's going to
be nice to see them go up hopefully reset get back
and get the higher standard of quality Luke
we obviously hold each other to a higher standard for sure
and the Canucks need to push
that out there now looking at of course heading
into the game two goaltenders both fresh after
not playing last game Kevin Lankinen got the start
in the last game versus Tampa where it's been a
tough year for Kevin Lankinen
but looking at the four days rest for Demkov and not getting his
last start since Florida a .921 save percentage I'm doing
a full video on Demkov and I got
brand new content coming up very soon
so you guys should be excited about that because it looks
incredible but this is going to be a Demkov game
and i'm excited to see and honestly
i feel bad for Canucks fans for letting
this guy walk fans let me know your thoughts down in the
comments because of course we see guys speaking
Branden Gallagher it just needs to be corrected
on the way the Canucks are playing i want to know
your thoughts heading into this game what's the
final score going to be what is your thoughts
on Jonathan Dymianiuk being demoted to the third
line but still on the first power play do we see
this kind of bounce Pettersson back with a former
line mate in Carlson let me know all your thoughts down in the comments
and hey have you made it this
far again we're trying to reach your goal of 10,000 subscribers
