Canucks Trade Talks INTENSIFYING... - This is WILD
Oct 15, 2026
Video Summary
AI GeneratedThe Vancouver Canucks are actively exploring trade options as the deadline approaches, with significant interest in defenseman Carson Soucy. While the team is seeking higher value for their assets, there is a clear preference to move several veterans, including Soucy, Derek Forbert, and potentially Brock Boeser, to refresh the roster and acquire draft capital.
Trade talks are intensifying as multiple reports have surfaced
that Vancouver Canucks defenseman Carson Soucy is being inquired about
by multiple teams and the veteran situation continues to get worse
as reports surface that the Canucks are not getting the value that they
want in potential offers, but the preferred outcome is to move him.

We'll keep you up to date on everything
to do around the Canucks, especially over the
next 24 hours with the trade deadline looming.
But with that, we're going to hop straight
into the first topic today, where we did get
reports coming out from Darren Dreger with Dumoulin move.
There's an interest growing around Canucks
to veteran defenseman Carson Soucy.
He has a trade protection, and it hasn't reached that point yet,
but a lot of teams are calling.
Now, we've seen the reports that the Canucks are shopping.
Carson Soucy, just a few weeks ago, but it does seem like
the interest for the veteran defenseman is gaining quite a bit.
And by a team that we do see here coming from Jacob Stolar,
saying hearing the Winnipeg Jets are one of the several teams
expressing considerable interest in Canucks defenseman Carson Soucy,
Carson Soucy carries a 3.25 AAV until the end of next season.
Now, Carson Soucy last year was one
of the very big bright spots on this Canucks back end,
looking like the shutdown defenseman of the future.
And by future, I mean the three seasons they had him.
And coming into the season, he has kind of lost his spot.
We've seen him scratched within this lineup.
They've tried new things.
Soucy has jumped in and out of the lineup, playing better as of late.
But his role in the top four has diminished quite a bit,
and it does seem like the Canucks are looking
to find a trade partner for Carson Soucy.
Now, with the market, and especially the D market,
we're seeing a lot of defensemen move for quite a high premium.
Carson Soucy, on one more year or after this year,
is not a rental, which does bump his value.
Yes, he is 31, but he is still a very serviceable defenseman
that teams can pick up to have for this playoff race and next year's.
Yes, the Canucks have the chance to keep Carson Soucy
and use him for exactly that two playoff races, including this year,
if, I mean, if they really do make the playoffs at this point.
But with the Canucks,
the value does seem at an all-time high for a shut-down defenseman.
I mean, if we're looking at the New Jersey Devils, who made
a trade with Anaheim Ducks, you can see defenseman Brian Doolman
was acquired for a second-round pick and a prospect.
this is Brian Doolman from the Anaheim Ducks
that is on a one-year deal I believe is 1.5 million
who is not a as good defenseman
and listen not hating on Brian Doolman he is a great
shutdown defenseman but he's smaller than Soucy
and does not have the track record
that Carson Soucy has now seeing that he fetched
a second round pick and a prospect
I have no doubt that the Canucks can get the exact same
or more for Soucy and even a guy like
forward moving forward if they want to move
on from both of these guys at the deadline which is
just under 24 hours of recording this away
so i mean looking at this with the defense appearance
we do know on defense Pettersson Pettersson
and Forbert that's so funny to read on the right
side Hironik Myers and Soucy now this is without Hughes
who will slide straight into the top left
end D which does seem that it will bump Derek forward out
of the lineup Mancini looked good
in his debut for the Vancouver Canucks.
So if you do move on from Derek Forbert
and Carson Soucy,
acquire a couple draft picks.
I mean, if you can bring in a first round pick
for both these guys,
or at least a second and a third
that we've seen the Canucks do,
use to bring in another player,
which a top six center,
they really truly do need.
But looking at the two players,
Forbert, if you can fetch a third round pick for him,
you can move on from him.
Soucy, you can move on.
If you can get a second plus a prospect,
you can inject Hughes back in the lineup
once he's healthy and Mancini can take over that right-handed D spot
which would fill out the
Canucks top six D immediately with younger fresher legs I mean Hughes
is the best defenseman in the
league so injecting him into the lineup is going to make a bump
but I do think the Canucks even if
they want to go on a bit of a run this year
if they want to run Marcus Pettersson as that second
lefty with Hughes on the top D PD as the third line lefty Mancini
and PD would get a little shaky
but if you wanted to put Mancini next to Marcus Pettersson,
Tyler Myers, the veteran, down with D. P.D.,
Veronik with Hughes,
I think this is a very capable defensive core
that could still make some noise in the playoffs.
Yes, you lack the leadership.
Yes, you lack the experience,
but you still get fresh legs that are hungry to stay in the NHL,
both guys looking great in their time with the Canucks.
But from these reports,
seeing that multiple teams are calling on Carson Soucy,
That the Winnipeg Jets are in on Soucy as well
as they want to upgrade their defensive
pairings going into the strongest
season they've had in quite some years.
What would you expect to get back for not only Carson Soucy,
because if it's not a second
round pick and any less, I would be upset,
but also on Derek Forbert as a expiring contract
on a contending team could be worth at least
a third round pick from what we've seen some
of the trades going around.
I mean, Vincent DeJarne is just went for a fifth.
So why wouldn't Forbert be worth a third?
but it doesn't stop there looking at this Cam Robinson
of the elite prospect said i'm told
the canucks are none too impressed with the offers
on Brock Besser at this point he's a secondary
option for buyers so canucks will try
and wait out the market to maximize the return i do think
preference is to move him now this is a huge report coming
from cam robinson who's around the
league he's talks to insiders talks
to scouts it does seem like brock's time in vancouver might be
coming to an end and seeing just a quote of they're
not impressed with the offers is a little
scary Brock Besser a 40 goals for last year
and having a bit of a down year yes you moved on from
JT Miller yes the entire team is just kind
of on a slump on their own I do expect a lot of value
and I think a team might end up panicking
at deadline if they miss out on some top guys Brock
Nelson's the name that's floating around I mean Miko Rantanen
is floating around so teams miss
out on this top end talent
or have these guys become unavailable I think the market's going
to really start to pick up on Brock Boeser we're going
to see a lot more fielding offers coming in
but teams are going to actively continually call
the Canucks on Brock Boeser with the quote of I
do think preference is to move him we know
with this team Jim Rutherford and Patrick Allvin are
straight to the point JT Miller seemed
to be on the block they moved them immediately so with the
three names that I've mentioned so far in Brock Boeser
and Susie I do expect at least two of the
three to be moved out and in my opinion
if they don't do it it is pretty much a failed trade
deadline I mean looking at the forwards replacing Brock
is a lot harder than replacing Carson Soucy
and Derek Forbert Jonathan Lekkerimaki joins
the team after having an outstanding season
on the absolute Canucks but I do think the Canucks
are in the realm of saying hey let's move on from
a couple of our guys we have UFAs and Brock Boeser
and Derek Forbert we can trade out Carson
Soucy accumulate quite the draft haul from these guys
and immediately flip them for maybe another
winger but especially a center
on the top six where Heiman could slide straight into the role
Boeser's playing who I mean heatle's look great on the play drive
but looking at this obviously the
Canucks need to get draft capital to acquire more players yes they
are missing a third in back-to-back
years they're missing a second in 2027
but I don't think the Canucks want to move on from their own
draft picks, we've seen them move on from the Rangers
to get Marcus Pedersen I know this is a lot to
cover and what you guys thoughts on this I mean we've seen
the reports just coming out the Canucks
are currently not in a playoff race right now just a few points
or I should say just a point
behind or tied for it with the Calgary Flames they're tied
in games they're in the playoff hunt
but i do think they need to capitalize on their UFAs
and free agents going in like Pius Suter
Brock Boeser, forward, and maybe even Carson Soucy
who has next year let me know your thoughts down
below who would you like to trade out
who do you want to see the Canucks maybe actively go after
we know they're actively looking for a center
so there might be another name or trade coming up as
i'm recording this who knows at this point enjoy
