The Toronto Raptors have just made some cold-blooded moves.
As earlier today, news came out
that this team was loading up the frontcourt,
loading up the center position, which was very exciting.
Then we had some more details,
some more insights in terms of why this move was made,
specifically with all the ongoings out there this summer
and the current situation with Nate Biddle.
So there are a lot of developments.
There are a lot of things going on right now with this Toronto Raptors.
teams and some of them some cold-hearted some
cold-blooded business moves in the NBA and others
that have some Raptors fans excited especially
with the discussion we had this morning regarding
CMB Jakob Purtle playing together a little bit we got
a taste of it out there in game two of this
year's uh preseason and now we're probably going
to see more of it after this latest move lots of
stuff lots of stuff we're going to get into in this vid
but folks I appreciate all the support
we've been getting out here in the videos
and we're on that goal to 45,000 subscribers this
season is right back around the corner we have
a lot of exciting stuff planned this season so make
sure you hit that subscribe button if you don't want
to miss a single thing that's going on with
this Toronto Raptors team but what's the news what's
the signing what's the cold-blooded cold-hearted
moves that Bobby Webster's cooking up starting off Jamarian Sharp
the Toronto Raptors have signed
Jamarian Sharp back who if you're following
this team this summer if you're following the squad
he's a familiar name so let's take a look
at this report the Raptors announced they have signed
Jamarian Sharp who was recently waived
by the Los Angeles Clippers in the corresponding move they
have waived Chucky Hepburn coming from Brett Siegel there
the confirmation from the Raptors
themselves as saying in the corresponding move
the Raptors have waived guard Chucky Hepburn so
that's a confirmation directly from the Raptors why
is this so cold-blooded why is this so cold
of a move well we'll break that down
but i want to start off with Jamarian Sharp because if you're
not familiar with him he had an interesting uh route
to the Toronto Raptors this year played
for the Texas Legends uh last season
was a defensive player of the year caliber guy protected
the rim lots of interesting stats we'll take
a look at all that stuff and then during summer
league impressed a lot of people he was very effective
for the Toronto Raptors over the course
of summer league was a guy that people
were disappointed didn't get put onto the roster
right away and got scooped up
by the Los Angeles Clippers I know there was a lot of rants there
was a lot of discourse about the Clippers plucking guys away all
the drama with Kawhi Leonard and
everything going on and Jamarian Sharp
was a nice little cherry on top of all all that drama
but signed with the Clippers on a two-way
then got waived by the Los Angeles Clippers so I guess
they weren't happy with him they have a few bigs out there
with Los Angeles is what it is did not
make that roster and now the Raptors scooped him back up
so despite him signing a two-way back in
July with the Los Angeles Clippers he got waived out there in September
and now he is back with
this team who the heck is Jamarian Sharp a lot
of Raptors fans I'm sure didn't watch summer league
are tuning back in getting back in the mix now
with the season just around the corner who the
heck is this guy what can he provide out there
for this team well last year for the G League
with Texas Legends 39 games average 7.7 points
per night 7.5 rebounds and 4.1 blocks per game
which is just absolutely insane to look
at the G League Defensive Player of the Year uh and now
he's uh officially on the Toronto Raptors uh roster out there
in the mix he's a guy that
knocks out he blocks a lot of shots in five
or more games uh or sorry he blocked five or more
shots in 15 games last season you know season high nine blocks
this this dude had nine blocks
in a single game which is just ridiculous
to even contemplate to look at six double doubles and the
NBA transition still needs some testing during
summer league we got a good taste of Jamarian
Sharp in terms of what he's able to provide
and for a team that's already elite on defense he
makes this roster he'll be a huge boost
to that especially protecting the rim doing all these
types of things but can he defend at you know the NBA pick
and rolls there's one thing about being
an elite rim protector guy around the basket
that could block shots be a complete deterrent
around the rim the same way Victor Wembanyama
is but then it's like okay can you actually guard
around the three-point line people put you
in these switches out there or outside the the key
can you actually execute
because that's a bit more mental than it is the physical length
athleticism and all those types of things
so uh screen and finish without clogging the driving
lanes offensively there were moments where Jamarian
Sharp actually looked like a very effective lob
threat a player that guards
on this team Immanuel Quickley, Scottie Barnes, Jamarian Sharp could run some
actual actions with and use him as a lob threat
but other times looked very raw out there on the
offensive end so will he be able to change
that be different out there for uh the Toronto Raptors
in these games that'll be one thing to look
at hold his position against stronger centers
got to be muscly out there at the big man position
to be elite defender and make quick
offensive decisions the offensive game is certainly behind
the defensive side but we saw him in summer
league he impressed a lot of people people
were disappointed that he didn't end up making the
roster didn't end up making the squad
and much more went to the Los Angeles Clippers the Clippers
they there there was a detest at that time from a lot
of Toronto Raptors fans and myself included
i have made the rants i've gone on the spiels i hate
the Los Angeles Clippers franchise for
plucking Kawhi Leonard away back in 2019
but that's neither here nor there at this point
we got uh we got Kawhi back
and now we got Jamarian Sharp back will he make the roster
that's something to be seen we'll dive
into that a little bit more but i do want to touch on this
before the video gets a bit too long
is Chucky Hepburn waiver opens up a two-way roster spot so
this is where things get a little cold-blooded
and that's a good reason my uh you know as i
scratch my head my camera freezes in this position
but Chucky Hepburn's a guy that I'm a big fan of
as a Toronto Raptors fan I liked
his energy I liked how he played on defense had the the mini
Chucky Hepburn that I didn't get to play a lot lately
or at any point because he's dealt with a
ton of injuries out there over the course of his Raptors career
and it's just unfortunate because
I like the energy I like the shooting
the Raptors front office liked him too gave him this two-way
contract back last July
then he had his knee surgery back in January so when there was some
opportunities for him to play over the course
of last season he wasn't able to go out there and
suit up on the court but the Raptors liked him
so much they were going they will were willing to
bring him back on another two-way contract
and he returned to the team qualifying offer all those
types of things and in preseason even
though he played over the course of summer league showed out
showed pretty well hurt his hamstring got
a hamstring strain in the game against Los Angeles
Clippers this weekend people were hoping it wasn't
a big thing I said in the post game I'm praying
for the guy that it's not a serious injury
but it must have been pretty significant as the Toronto
Raptors ended up waving him and it sucks preseason
was the opportunity Chucky Hepburn had to show who
he was really get an opportunity get some minutes
but now that opportunity is going different places
of course we have Jamarian Sharp coming
in it's unclear what his roster spot is specifically named
now at this point but we have an updated list
of two-way players Trey Jemison one of our two-way
spots there right now Malachi Smith of course played
for the Brooklyn Nets last season playing
pretty solid out there over the course of preseason
and stuff uh Chucky Hepburn is now
waived opening up a new two-way spot we're not sure
which Jamarian Sharp's contract specifically is but
he is with the Toronto Raptors here right now we
also have a Burnett who has shown out a lot
in these preseason games we have Tyree Key who's
also an interesting player a lot more fighting a
lot more opportunities for players now to get that spot
but one guy that doesn't have a guaranteed
roster spot especially after Nate Biddle got converted
to a real contract is Nate Biddle who
is also dealing with some injuries here right now
as he has a foot injury he's been in a boot for
the past month or so and it's limited
his camp audition Sharp adds another center to evaluate
for this team availability may affect this decision
and there's no confirmed uh Biddle
waiver or a lost job. Chucky Hepburn got the cut,
got the snips because of this injury. Nate Biddle
is still with the team, still with camp,
even despite being in a walking boot. Obviously,
Nate Biddle during Summer League averaged 9.8 points per game,
6.8 rebounds, three blocks per
game, which is crazy. 2.3 assists a game is really strong as well,
and shot 43% from the three-point
line on four attempts per game.
Different offensive upside than Jamarion Sharp, and it was clear for
anyone that watched summer league that watched
these games Nate Biddle was a guy that we could
certainly more reliably look at and say hey that's
a player that's a dude we can insert insert into
this Toronto Raptors roster in rotation right now
and it feels like it would be better would just be
more ready Jamarion Sharp has the defensive upside
the more athletic intangibles all that type of
stuff but with the three-point spacing
and the defense that Nate Biddle provides he's a guy that
a lot of people looked at and said hey could he
be the backup center for the Toronto Raptors this
year and that wasn't a crazy take even
though he's an undrafted rookie that's something that is uh
something that you do have to look at and we have
this quote from Nate Biddle saying that he wants
to be able to block shots space the floor offensively
and set good screens to get guys
open those are all things that Nate Biddle
is able to do is able to set up for this Toronto
Raptors squad and it puts the Darko Rajakovic
in an even more interesting position we talked a
lot about the center spot over
the past few days running CMB running all these guys out there the
multi big man lineups now we have a lot of a lot
of guys to look at right Sharpe has that vertical
size Biddle the shooting you know one opening you
still have Trey Jemison who's looking for these
types of spots the you know there's no sure assurance
that any of these guys are gonna be
on the roster we also have this comment you know
from uh from the YouTube comments coming from uh
let's see who's this from Joy Fem when Joy Fem
when i hope i'm pronouncing that correctly but
what about Nate Biddle a stretch big man
that could space the floor rebound at a decent good
level and can protect the rim at a consistent rate he'd
be good signing for us and could build
on him and Allen Graves completely agree
that's why he did not get waived and Chucky Hepburn did
despite them both dealing with injuries
so it's going to be interesting it's going to be
interesting to see how things play out
but Toronto tests its front court depth now at this point
right we made a whole video this morning on how
the front court depth is going to be affected
by all these latest moves all these latest updates
and Sharpe isn't here right now because we have so
many guys out there at that big man spot
and behind Pirtle we have Trace Jackson Davis we have Nate
Biddle we have Trey Jemison and then
also Jamarian Sharpe now Trey Jemison hasn't impressed
a ton of people and of course Colin Murray-Boyles can slide up
into those slots but it feels like
he'll be playing a lot with Jakub Pirtle as well
or Darko Rajakovic that's that's where things get
interesting because you have Trace Jackson Davis
who couldn't really crack the rotation last year
for the Toronto Raptors during moments where it
really felt like he should have or he should have
had the opportunity, you know, just nine minutes
per game 3.4 rebounds 2.7 assists at a 57% true
shooting very interesting player very interesting player
the 100% from three don't worry about
that it's extremely small sample size
but he blocked shots at a decent rate a little bit
undersized there with his 6'9 height at the center position
but a player that I was pretty excited
about he dominated absolutely dominated the G League
when he was down there but a name with
him, Nate Biddle, Jermarion Sharp, Trey Jemison,
that should be brought up, should be discussed.
He has the NBA experience.
His role was limited last season.
He had a jaw injury.
That's interrupted preseason.
We've also heard stuff as migraines and all that
regarding Trace Jackson Davis,
but yet to see him come out there
and play in preseason just yet.
Very interested to see how many minutes he gets
once he's back healthy over the course of preseason
in terms of figuring all this stuff out.
But the depth matters.
That's what we need.
Because if CMB's running power forward,
that leaves a lot of minutes that have
to be covered at that center spot especially if
Jakapertelis going to be dealing
with injuries yeah Jakapertel uh CMB sometimes deal with foul
trouble as well the center spot's always brutal
for that you need a lot of guys a lot of big men
that can come out clog the lane protect
the rim especially if your hat is going to be the the hat
you're wanting is a defensive team you hang
your hat on being a defensive team hang your hat on
the defense but playable depth is crucial for the squad
and we've seen this problem for years
of the Toronto Raptors needs to be resolved needs to be fixed
but gives Darko a ton more options
gives him with uh all these CMB role changes
with the updates that we've been hearing right the
with Pirtle without Pirtle stats
and very very small sample size for the with Pirtle but without
Pirtle CMB has uh been playing better out there
in those areas gonna be interesting to see how
they all shake out in terms of these guys actually playing together
but you know if we're looking at
at all they shared 72 minutes together last
season they're they're probably going to be
playing a lot more this year i'll pose
the question you guys i'll pose the question you
guys here right now who should get
that open two-way spot Jamarian Sharp brings size defense
you have a lob threat out there for the team Nate Biddle
who has the shooting and the passing
despite him being a walking boot right now you have other
or another you know Burnett who is a
player that has impressed some people out there
in terms of his shooting you know it's a i very
much uh you know Tyree Tyree he
is impressing people I liked him in what's called summer league
and mixing up summer league
and preseason just stumbling on my words but Nate Biddle is the guy
that I'd lean towards even
with the foot injury hopefully it's nothing serious uh Blake Murphy
insinuate that we should be getting an update soon
on Nate Biddle this week hopefully it is nothing
big and he'll be able to show out
and show his tryouts very very soon but let me know what you
guys think about all this in the comment section
down below best make as far as subscribe the
channel if you guys haven't already anyways I'm signing out
